- After 23,000+ miles it was time for my fuel filter change. On the 2017 F250 we have two, one under the truck and one in the engine bay. Very simple process that I walk you though in this video.

Thanks for watching yall!! What would you like to see next on the Beast F250!?
Delete all the BS on the truck lol
In due time John! 👍🏼
when did you get the 6.7 didnt you just have the 6.2 the other day hahah?
moostang09 how to remove and replace chrome mirror caps.
Deleted my truck. Best upgrade ever.
Change BOTH filters first, then purge all the air by cycling the key 5 or 6 times. That's why you had a hard start.
You’re 100% correct
Thanks for this info guys.
I purge mine over 20 times in my 17 250 and it still has a hard time starting. Always has been that way. And I change them both before i try to prime it.
When u purge the lines do I have to take off a line to bleed the air out or just off /on 5 times then start? Thanks
@@FKNSENDIT That's what I'm wondering. The displaced air has to go somewhere. I think that's why if you don't prime it correctly you have to crank it a few times, it allows the air to move through the system and out the injectors.
Hey man, I just wanted to say your video helped me out in a BIG WAY today... thanks for posting this!!! Hope you had an awesome day!!!
Exactly the video I was looking for, thank you!
VERY well done video! Appreciate the time you took to make it. I’ll definitely be doing this myself!
Couldn’t have completed this without your video. Thanks man!
There are a few videos out there on the 2017 SuperDuty with the 6.7. This was a good one. Very clear video. I didn't disconnect the fuel line based on other videos, though and it did great! Thanks for the tips!
Watched this video and had no problem changing on my 2019 6.7. Love Moostang09 videos
Hands down best dude on explaining things! Thanks again man!
Dude that was way helpful. I just had the dealership try and charge me over $275 for this. I will be doing this job on my own this weekend. thanks bud!
Thanks for the video man. Just changed mine and did my air filter. Dealer wanted over $400 for both! It cost me a total of $100
This was a very well put together video! Thanks for posting. I appreciate it.
Great video! Just bought a 2017 black 250 6.7. I'm totally a DIY guy. I look forward to more of your videos. Thank you!
Very good vid. I have the same truck with a S&B cold air intake. Unbelievable boost in performance..Thanks
Man, you just saved me some time and money. Thanks!!!
Very detailed and informative! Thanks for the video!
Thank you, showing the clips clearly really helped me out.
Thank you for the informative video. I just change my fuel filters with ease. One thing to note you do not need to remove the fuel line going to the filter under the truck. It is just plugged into the upper housing I didn’t, and it worked just fine for me.
Good video! Easy to follow!
I just changed both the fuel filter and fuel/water separator filter at 25k on my 2017 F250. I had no water in the drained fuel or in the separator filter, but I live in Northern California where we have very low humidity and relatively mild winters. However, I cut the fuel filter in half to examine the filter and it was very dirty. Glad I changed it early.
Thank you! Huge help! I have the same truck with 6" lift on 37.
tnx dude now I know what to do weekend proyect, coming up.
Tanks for the video man. You helped me a lot
I Got a 17 XLT also. Keep up the good work. I will be installing my Supernova V4's next weekend.
Awesome Tim, you will love them.
Nice work, great video.
had the oil on my '17 F350 changed at the dealer yesterday and this kid quoted another $320 to change the fuel filters! Thanks for the video and the link, just order it, comes Thursday. Sorry jr, I'll take care of this myself!
Nice video man !!!
Good work buddy.👌🏼
Good video and well presented!
Thanks man! Great explanation
Wish I would have seen this video. Went for an oil change/tire rotation and I let them talk me into a fuel filter change 😤. Never again. Keep up the great videos.
Thanks for the video.
I changed both my fuel filters.
I definitely drained more than a gallon from my truck
Yea mine too
3 waters bottles and a ice coffee jug half way. Had to go back and double check if you're suppose to drain the whole thing or only some haha. Good to see videos that help ppl save money. God bless u guys
Your videos are so good.
Nothing like a good rivalry over a cold beer!
Absolutely man! Let the rivalry begin and let the beer and smack talk flow. Haha
Some rubber mechanics gloves and non chlorinated brake spray will help ya out a lot. The open filter element looks very open for contamination during install. Good explanation on it all!
Thank you. I’m changing mine out tomorrow.
Really great video! It was a big help.
Have you ever changed out the whole fog light? My glass/plastic is broken and water is getting in. I want to replace and upgrade to the led like you did. I am just not sure how big a job it is. I look forward to hearing from you.
Helpful video. Thank you
Excellent very informative video thank you
It is extremely important that you prime the system with 6 cycles of turning truck on but NOT starting it to prime the fuel system. The fuel is required to lubricate the cylinders and the injectors. At each cycle listen underneath to hear when the pump has stopped before starting the next cycle. Attempting to start your engine before there is adequate fuel is bad for the same reasons it is bad to run out of fuel.
Great video! Thanks fam!
Great video i thought the same when for a 6.2L gas.
But to everyone with a 6.2 just know that they come with a built in filter on the fuel pump in the tank.
Manual for my 2018 350 6.7 liters literally says "Your vehicle is equipped with a lifetime fuel filter that is integrated with the fuel tank. Regular maintenance or replacement is not needed." - Yet the water separator and engine mount filter look exactly like these....very confused
Excellent vid thanks 🙏
oh yes thanks , great video , well explained . Thanks
Is there a fuel filter reset for a 2019
Great job!
Thank you! 👊🏼
Dealer told me $470 just for the frame mounted filter change cuz the tech said he had to unbolt and lift the fuel tank. Crooks! I changed it within a half hour. Thanks for the video!
I like your channel👍👍 Any chance we can see a diy delete kit for your exaust and tunner i have a 2017 6.7 powerstroke.
Great video, huge help, however after opening the drain plug, you mention remove a hose on top (6:15 seconds into the video) . Which hose and how?
Well done great video thanks
Thanks for checking it out and for the positive feedback Nick!
Thx for the vid!
Thanks nice job
Good job
Regarding fuel spilling out when you remove the housing/can filter.
Take an earplug roll it up and stick one in each hole. I’ll take donations in the form of beer. Thank you!
Well done Sir
Thanks for another informative video. I am going to start to do the fuel filter changes on my F250 as well. I have now installed the 2 wheel drive valance on my truck and you are right, makes it look much taller. Also got the tailgate dampner.....very cool. My question is when you removed the airbag to install the leather wheel did you disconnect the negative terminal on the drivers side battery only or did you disconnect both. I don't want to risk having to re program the truck if that is an issue. Many thanks
Philip I disconnect the batteries in their entirety.. I took off both positive and negative just to be safe.
I’m a new 2018 f250 diesel owner how often should I change the fuel filters?
I have a 2017.....What size rim and tire size do you have on?
Good info. I wish you would show how to undo the line under truck.
How do you like the fuel filter so far thinking about doing it on my truck.
Lube up those new gaskets before installing them. Always. diesel fuel or o ring lube will work. Good video
Good call out man! I always do it on the oil filters, makes sense to do here as well. 👍🏼
Can you drain the water seperator without changing the filter?
Speaking of the 37s do they rub at all with just a leveling kit??
Thank you for sharing!! The dealer told me $208 for each filter😱
Saved me $120! Thanks
Thank you for the amazon link doing my fuel filter change my self thanks to you 👍👍
How long does it take to drain??
Great vid, thanks for letting us know how much the dealer charges....needless to say their cost is probably $20 for the filters.
Good video. 2020 is slightly different bu mostly the same. Front most clip on the top filter is different in that you need to use a small screwdriver carefully to open the clip.
Can you just by the lower fuel water filter separately. Having a hard time finding it. Only see lower and upper as a package.
You can change both filter and cycle the key to the accessory position seven times and leaving the key in the accessory position for 30 seconds on each cycle and your truck will not have any long crank cycles.
Is you coolant level low? Unless yours is different than mine, your coolant is below the full cold mark.
Changing this out , the new one I bought did not have the red rubber gasket at the top, do I take it from the old one ?
After looking at my owners manual it says to unhook the fuel line before draining water separator. Did yours say to drain water separator then disconnect fuel line? It’s to keep the separator from siphoning fuel from your tank. Seems like if you drain separator then unhook line it would be pointless? Curious what ya think. New diesel owner my self so looking for some clarification
My kit from Amazon came with a clamshell connector to add to the orange/brown line. Anyone use that?
My dealer quoted me $200. After viewing your video, one hour of my time, rvand $51.20 for genuine ford filters for my 2019 F250 everything worked out perfect. Thanks a million!!! Oh the service rep I takes to was a real d##k....
Do I have to disconnect fuel line on rail?
What are you disconnecting on top of the housing before you drop the filter?
Just replaced both fuel filters. Before starting I turned key to acc mode until I heard the filter fill back up. Started first time and acted like no gas. 2nd time started fine but dash said engine limited power, and check engine light came on.. read code and it says fuel rail system pressure low..
can you buy the lower filter only or do you have to buy them together? I cannot find it online.
How long does it take to drain
I change my fuel filters and engine air filter every 15k miles on my 2017. Being a diesel mechanic I understand the importance of clean fuel and air in a diesel. I never go by the recommended mx intervals, I always go sooner.
Thamac15 how often should I drain that big filter he changed
@@caveman117j8 I drain my wif every oil change. 5k miles.
May want to spray the under-tank filter with shop solvent to remove excess grime. It doesn’t take much dirt to cause big problems. Thanks for the video
At least rinse it out with some of the diesel that was drained from the old filter. Better than leaving the sludge in the bottom.
I’m definitely laying the dealer to do this for $100 in labor lol, but I still want to know how it’s done just in case. Thanks for the great video!
Agreed. I honestly thought it would be more to change the filters from the dealer.
after you install the HE motorsport fuel filter. the next time you replace the Baldwin filter, how do you remove the hose on the port that yu cut the hose/plug off? Do you have to unscrew the JIC female swivel end? also< just an FYI. my 2019 F250 drained 3-1/2 gallons of diesel fuel from the water seperator filter.
I see you only got a little bit when you Drained the fitter. But i got like 2.5 gal is this common...
Doc’s Diesel sells the whole oil filter and both fuel filters in a kit for 53 dollars. Can’t beat it.
I just noticed my 2017 is leaking fuel. I started to smell the fuel as I was driving. And can see a little dripping underneath. Would replacing the fuel filter fix that?
I might be missing something in my manual, but I just recently purchased a 250 and have been wondering. When you do a quick drain, not to change the filter but just to test the fuel. Do you re-cycle the system or no need?
6'1" ha
Try 5'8". My tailgate is a few inches shorter. Cool vid. Gonna order my filters and do the same
Always fill a new filter either oil or fuel before replacing it and you never have a problem.
This was cool and interesting to learn something new I only own gas trucks so I know none of this. Also how is it having a shared drive way?
That is awesome that you learned something new. I figured there has to be more people like me out there that didn't know this was a regular maintenance item. Thanks for always watching and commenting on the videos Collin. I appreciate your support of the channel man!
@@moostang09 Absolutely man the content is always top notch keep it up
Just bought an 18 f250 xlt. Upgraded from an 06 6.0 f250 and before that a 2000 7.3, everytime I changed the oil I changed the fuel filters. Good video, been following you since the LED upgrade video. Thank you
Congrats on your new rig Tony and thanks for joining the channel!! I am not sure how the fuel filters differ from the different models. Is the 2017 one that much larger vs your old one?
@@moostang09 completely different. The one under the cab on the new ones look like a cabin air filter compared to the old ones, that's why the one guy said something about "cabin air filter". The old ones under the cab look like the one under the hood.
Oh I gotcha man! Thanks for the clarification because I had no idea. 👍🏼
good video man, very simple instal... thanks for the input...
Trans Fluid & Filter Change. Im about to do mine at 48k miles I Tow a 40' Gooseneck on my 2017 F250 Platinum w/upgraded rear axle which is same as the SRW F350 rear axle
I was draining mine and it passed half a gallon and continued to drain... is that normal? I have 9k miles and have never drained it nor have I received a notification on the cluster. I hit a gallon and decided to stop. Thoughts?
How did you remove the under the frame line? Mine has some blue clips on it. Did you jus pull it or is there a way those clips work. Dont wanna break it so being very cautious.
Thanks, great video. I’m also am new to diesel trucks with a 2019 F350. Did I hear correctly that you empty the lower fuel filter water drain every 3rd time you fill the fuel tank?
I think he meant to say every 3rd oil change...
That's correct. To ensue you drain any water buildup in the separator. It shouldn't be much if you're buying good fuel not from old mom and pop shop that doesn't get much fuel traffic.
I paid the dealer $500 for that and oil change. Thanks for the video
Amazon Link for the parts please
How many miles are you guys changing yours ? Manual says 15k for service vehicles and 22.5k normal.
