The range is incredible.... 200 meters???? Tanks are driving past an enemy 88mm anti tank gun paying no attention at those ranges.

There may be panic or the crew are inexperienced newbies who are completely blind on the battlefield and are trying to retreat in the wrong direction. Who knows..

honestly inside a tank you ahve terrible visibility. considering the commander wasnt looking outside his cupola they propaply just didnt see outside the viewport at the right time.

The 88 was definitely not at 200m.. from the muzzle velocity and time to impact i would guess 600m. The tanks are driving past smaller caliber weapons

@@Mfields4517 I don't think so, you can clearly see the wheeled bogie in the foreground. A clear sign of the 88 position.

This is probably one of the most incredible videos I've seen to DATE. There are videos far and few of actually seeing the famed 88cm FLAK in action in an anti tank role and seeing rounds hit its target. There are some that may say this a propaganda clip but regardless I've only read about "hits" meanwhile these 40 second video clips will replace a library full of WW2 books describing it. Bravo!

It's a Matilda II. Britain sent around 5000 armoured vehicles to the Soviet Union under Lend Lease, (1400 were from Canada) including Valentines, Matildas, Churchills, Tetrarchs, and Universal Carriers. They also supplied over 7000 aircraft of various types, of which around 3000 came from the US, as part of the British Lend Lease commitment to the Soviet Union, in exchange for which Britain supplied aircraft to the US for their use in the European Theatre.

They weren't strong, they were numerous and massively supported by foreign powers. Really they weren't admirable at all unless you are impressed by capacity for fanatic abusive slavery. Communism was the enemy of Russians too and unfortunately their memory of WWII and the USSR is entangled with it now.

The ones in important places would have quickly been overrun, and the rest would have been squandered. Flak 88 units where concentrated specifically to areas anticipated for armored attacks, aside from thier uses as artillery or anti-air. The other less strategic AT outfits, like Division assigned AT companies with Paks would more closely be what you're thinking.
