    I have a question hope you answer that.
    I built quads doing tons of leg extensions. Would you think I lose quads muscle stop doing leg extensions and start doing only squat??

    • @amoon.93
      @amoon.93 Před 4 lety

      No you won't lose your quads.. i personally build most of my quad muscle bulk from squat variations , leg press & lunges & use the leg extension more for definition/as accesory work

  • @FalafelManiac
    @FalafelManiac Před 7 lety +1

    Brendan, if all the fundamentals are covered, do you think having a limited work capacity could literally prevent you from making gains? (for example when your minimum effective volume=max recoverable volume)

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před 7 lety +2

      FalafelManiac yes it 100% can and I see this OFTEN! Greg nuckols I'm pretty sure has an article on this if I remember right. Try googling "Greg nuckols work capacity" and see if it shows up. He explains it well. It might have been an article from mike T but I think it was nuckols. Put simply, there's many times when we need to increase our transient work capacity a lot higher than it is to make gains because the amount of volume we need to see progress after a while gets really high.

    Can you build a relationship between strength plateau and work capacity ?

    Hey man. I got diagnosed with a skeletal muscle tear in my chest. I do power lifting workouts but I was told by the doc to lay off the weights for 3-6 months for recovery. can i still lift ? and what can i do ?

    • @Cbeezy771
      @Cbeezy771 Před 7 lety +3

      Jeff Schuyler "told by doctor to lay of weights" then "can I still lift?". Just when I thought I've seen it all. No dude listen to your doctor he's a doctor. Maybe train some legs but you tore a muscle in your chest. Please let that shit rest life is more then lifting.

    • @charlottech9990
      @charlottech9990 Před 7 lety

      Jeff Schuyler get well soon. It sounds painful. I hope your healing is fast.

    • @BrendanTietz
      @BrendanTietz  Před 7 lety +2

      Jeff Schuyler I'm not afraid to go against doctors because honestly most doctors don't understand the physiological principles surrounding us as lifters. I've lifted with a torn lat. in fact I tore it deadlifting and then finished the workout with safety squats since I couldn't Deadlift lol. I healed in a couple months. It depends on the severity of the tear, avoid anything that causes pain of a 2/10 (10 being excruciating). Avoid directly training the muscle, but I would keep lifting!

    I workout 5 days a week, diet and I mean is there a reason why I'm gaining weight ? I don't feel like I look any fatter haha if that makes sense but I do look stockier, thicker? Someone told me it could be because I'm not consuming enough calories ☹️ someone lol 😂 I'm so frustrated

    • @rachel14rod
      @rachel14rod Před 7 lety

      gladys perez - are you sleeping enough? how are your stress levels? are you recovering from your workouts? have you been dieting for more than 6 months without results? are you energetic?

    • @gigis_vlogs
      @gigis_vlogs Před 7 lety

      rachel14rod I've been dieting for 6 month almost 7, I usually only get 5 to 6 hours of sleep because of work. And yeah I stress a lot but didn't think that would have anything to do with gaining weight. I'm 4"11 to 5"0 at 130lbs I was down to 123lbs when I was hitting more cardio than Actual workouts . My goal is 120lbs to 115... I'm confused as to what I'm doing wrong 😩

    • @AsifIqbalMunir
      @AsifIqbalMunir Před 7 lety

      Stress & lack of sleep can lead to weight gain but if you aren't getting fat, could be muscle? lol

      Balance between sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system is very critical to how you metabolize. Stress and recovery must balance. Your brain thinks all stress is physical and responds that way.

    Brendan, does the accessory exercises count in the means of the 20 to 25 sets per week ? Because if we do for example two shoulder day to catch up a lagging part, we have to do only 5-6 exercises of 4 sets totally in the two days ? No matters the intensity or the using percentage weight ? Thanks
