I swear, when I think about those first seven Iron Maiden albums, Iron Maiden through 7th Son... That's got to be the very best seven-album run ever. I mean... SEVEN albums in a row, every one of them kick-ass from start to finish. Ok, as a die-hard metalhead and Maiden fan, I might be a little biased ;-)

Kel your absolutely right when you said you need to listen to this album again. The rest of us Maiden fans have all their music catalog etched in our hearts so we know what’s coming up next, the solos, the melodies, the cord transitions and all that good stuff it’s all muscle music memory for us. That’s why we enjoy it so much! Once you give it multiple listens to you will also be right there with us knowing what’s coming up next! Isn’t that what this whole journey is all about as well? I Love It 👌🏽

Raul. I agree wholeheartedly - it's a "grower". When I first listened to it, I liked it but still had some reservations, then with each subsequent listen I grew to love it more and more, and quickly it became my favourite Iron Maiden album - still is to this day (Brave New World is a close second). Cheers!

A lot of people love the _Number of the Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave_ period. I think _Somewhere in time_ and _Seventh Son_ are where Maiden were at their true creative top.
The first two albums, with singer Paul diAnno? Raw, almost punkish energy. Number of the Beast to Powerslave? Classic British Metal. But SiT and 7S are just so progressive, so creative, they're in a league of their own, as far as Maiden albums go.
Anyway, thanks for this album reaction, much appreciated, you two.

To me, the album Seventh Son was the beginning of what they call symphonic metal. Like I said, just my opinion. Iron Maiden are pioneers in metal. Many bands say that they were one of if not the main influence for them. That is why I have been a fan from day one. You guys will definitely enjoy the show. I can remember going to Donington Monsters of Rock in the UK back in 1988, 500,000 watts of awesome power being blasted out to over 104,000 fans. This album (or many of its tracks) was played to the adoration of everyone there, such an epic gig and so memorable. Keep up the awesome work you pair, love from Nottinghamshire, UK. p.s. It is asides from him getting older he suffered from throat cancer back in 2015 when they were about to release "The Book of Souls". Thankfully the operation was a success but as a consequence Bruce can't reach his highest notes. That's why he can't sing some of Maiden's greatest songs as well as underated songs.

I've never go wrong with this I'm gonna say: Seventh Son album, and Somewhere in time album, both are the best Iron Maiden road trip albums you can get. The end part of the song Seventh Son, at the guitar duel part, after the oh oh's, the bass line with the concluding dueling guitars becomes a part of the road that gives you a feel of being taken by it(by the bass line) all you got to do is relax your abdomen and feel the bass, same thing with the song The Duelists from album Powerslave.
Kei-Rich. Another great road trip albums I recommend are: Emerson Lake and Palmer "Pictures at an Exhibition" or "Relayer" album by Yes and even "The Song Remains the Same" by Led Zeppelin. Depends on your mood though

Hey guys. I bought my first CD player around the time this album came out and my first CD had to be Iron Maiden. Since this was a new album, the choice was clear. Especially since they were (and still are) my all-time favorite band. I had just seen them the year before for the first time on their tour for the Somewhere In Time album and it was just amazingly phenomenal. My mind was blown. Their stages are very intricately detailed and the show Is just amazing. If you get a chance, watch their Live After Death (full concert) video. It is from 1985.

Saw 1 and 2 parts, was really great to find you guys did the whole album, the best Maiden album in my opinion! Except for can I play with madness haha their one commercial filler that had a music video if I do recall. That aside the entire album just congealed, almost making one long progressive song. The whole vibe, the memorable guitar melodies and harmonies , and Bruce's vocals weaving and souring in and out really captured what made Maiden so great in the mid/ late 80's. This album captures everything great about Maiden.

And yet another classic, perhaps a top 3 Maiden songs (!!). At least for me, it's at the top 3, easy.
That's the song which managed to lure a friend of mine into metal, back in the day... Of course, the short was quick to get her to black metal from there ;)

Dark night drives really are the place for this album, this and somwhere in time have a hard to explain quality that's kinda hypnotic (maybe its the synths) they transport my mind to somwhere pass just listening to a metal album.

There are also twins mentioned. Moonchild. “The twins, they are exhausted, seven is the night”, and “Gemini is rising, as the red lips kiss to bite.” 🤪
An astrological reference to Gemini, the twins. I will have to dig into what it means. 🤷🏼‍♂️

So I was looking for some paperwork for my taxes and came across a broken glass pipe, scraped off all the resin and got decently stoned. Anywho, back to my taxes, this year in Manitoba I can apply for an extra $170 in my tax refund due to something called the Climate Action Initiative. I know it has nothing to do with Iron Maiden but still, $170 is pretty cool and like I said, I'm decently stoned and off topic. Hope ye had a fun trip, I am. 🗣💨 #PuffPuffPass

  • @marciusnhasty

Someone told them that heavy metal can't be played with synthesizers, while they were making this album... Iron Maiden was just like "Well, we will just add them anyway, so deal with it". In hindsight this album was a significant game changer for that addition alone.
