Why is there so much hate for this guy? If you actually tried to understand him, he is indirectly talking about self confidence and that bringing you everything you want to achieve in life.
That is what he means when he says that what you feel when you look at yourself in the mirror is carried on for the rest of the day and reflects in your body language.
He just says that if something makes you feel bad about yourself, work on it until you're better at it and you will succeed if you're true to your work.
I felt really inspired by him. And that is why he is a TED TALKER.
Not because he is a "steroid junkie"

@@vinaydhyani9079 Sure it is...It's all relevant. The speaker curates paltry amounts of anecdotes amalgamated with their empirical data and research that coalesce together at the end of their speech to formulate a well-wrapped-up, palatable message that individuals will comprehend and take home for a moment or for a lifetime. It's the rudimentary formula for public "Rhetoric" speaking; ethos, pathos, logos are the key ingredients to captivate the audience. Now, he did his very best to convey his message. Moreover, I have to admit it wasn't a steel-clad of a speech, but the message and the anecdote were heard indefinitely and were absolutely inspiring.

Anirudh Kaushik Yeah, keep repeating this message please. Everyone needs to see your valuable contribution to humanity.
I think you underestimate this. The problem is that he became a model. If he became something different it would've clicked with you, because you know you won't be a model. You know you're not enough. You're not good enough.
If you get offended by what I wrote: this is the point of the video. That is what you tell yourself when you see yourself in the mirror if you are unhappy with your body.
Working out and taking care of your body is very, very important and does wonders for your self esteem. And your self esteem is one of the most important factors of success.

Sadly, this reinforces that what you look like is often more important than what you have to offer on the inside. Humans are shallow by nature, whether we want to admit it or not. Good looking people get far more opportunities than those who are average looking or worse. This isn't always the case but it's more the rule than the exception.

And lets just keep these things aside, whoever he is whatever he does, did he say something inappropriate on the show? Jo bhi kaha motivate karne k liye hi kaha tha na usne? No doubt they're very motivating but we already have umpteen number of CZcams channels for that. I feel, what he was trying to tell is that "physical fitness" (fitness= Caring for your body & maintaining it to function properly for your goals) can play a major role in helping you to discipline yourself (I say this, because maintaing a fit body is NOT limited to gyming for an hour. Exercising is very important. But it also includes proper sleep & proper food intake and you do need a lot to discipline and self control to stop yourself from eating that pastry/samosa everyday after work etc.) and discipline is a fundamental pillar if you wish to be successful. Mental health also plays a big role, as in portrayed in his story. Not "trying" to be positive here. Just applying logic and getting out a reasonable interpretation of what he was trying to say. :)

I understand the fact that Abhinav Mahajan is not very "Tedx material" and all, but the philosophy of everyday life told by someone who doesn't spend his days between pages of books and lectures but the man who lives in that life actually makes this speech more genuine. He didn't make a very detailed (and probably boring) research about it, but he just speaks about some facts he realized it.
If you do not appreciate the fact that TEDx trying to achieve by bringing people from all parts of our society, then, well ,don't watch it.
I personally want to see a bus driver or a cashier make a speech about their personal life, intend to teach something valuable out of it.

Shameless self-promotion. The entire concept of his message is shallow. How did this make it to TED? Netflix should do a documentary on the TED phenomenon behind the scenes and TED's faltering quality control standards. That is something I would pay to watch!

Yup, disappointed with TED. Its more like promoting shallowness for success
Its like putting physique over talent and skills when the majority of successful people are purely on basis of talent, skills, intellect and being good person.

Okay i know everyone here is being like, this is not a TEDx talk, but he did give me some concepts and ideas.
What i took from it, was.
Be happy with whoever you are, because if you are not confident on seeing yourself in the mirror. That reflects in your stature and body language, and that has effect on how people will treat you, and hence will hamper your success.
Basically, people will treat you how you treat yourself. If you're insecure about your skin, people will use that against you. But if you are happy and confident then no one can even harm you as such.
Also, have a good body, duhhhhhhhhh. (sarcasm.)

“God why me, maine marana hai sabko” kyun marana hai sabko ? Kiss competition mein ho ? Kiss race mein bhag rahe ho ? Kyun jitana chahte ho ? And what is your idea of success - a great body ? A great body has given u the confidence to come on the Stage and speak. Why ? Because now u look like the rest of the people
On tv. You feel you finally fit in and have made it. What is wrong in the image that you shared earlier on screen. You look like a young kid budding with youth. What is wrong in that ? Why was that pic shown as reference. Ek bacha bacha nahi dikhega toh Aur kya dikhega. Hrithik Roshan ? Bacha has low self esteem and was underconfident because he wanted to look like the ppl on tv. Unreal standards of beauty and confidence. Today the bacha is a grown up man, pumped with steroids, stylish haircut and clothes so he is confident. Finally he has made it (more in his head) and because of that he is able to do public speaking confidently. But is he really ?
Just Another ted talk of a trapped person.

I am not sure what success really is...But I am definitely not getting money by looking trendy with topknots, beards like Russian popes, tattooed and in skinny torn hem ankle jeans...Would make me feel like a copy of a copy of a copy with no individual sense of style and dignity. You know, form over substance stuff.
But otherwise it's a success, of course. As long as you can make a good living why not.

One of the least inspiring TED talks I have ever heard. If everyone would listen to you, it would create more emotional damage and dysfunction than good for most people. True success results from a balance of a healthy (not perfect) body, mind, heart and spirit. Not by spending ALL your time in the gym. Real and lasting self esteem should never be directly and totally determined with having a perfect body. Likewise, real success is not determined by being on the cover of a magazine shirtless. This would NEVER be accepted as a real TED talk. I recommend everyone to watch only TED talks. Not TEDx talks.
