One thing that I really like in GT7, is that you can move the camera around the car in chase cam. They neglected that for years.

If you seriously expect the GT7, which is only available on PS4 and PS5, to keep up with an RTX4090... wow, that's quite daring. If you watch the video, you have to have the greatest respect for GT7, because it looks excellent even in direct comparison to Forza with a 4090.

Objectively speaking, that's just not true. It also has undeniably better graphics, and the program doesn't crash endlessly..not to mention none of the vehicles or tracks are behind paywalls, in GT7. The vehicle list isn't littered with 10+ year old car models. So, it definitely isn't just VR support..it's also more fun, due to much more diverse content. Modern FM games are a joke, sadly. The franchise had taken a huge turn for the worst, years ago. While, GT is currently better than ever before. FM was my jam, for many years. Held world record lap times, until I made my tunes public. FM used to genuinely kick ass, but times have certainly changed..and so has the quality of Turn 10's baby. Like I said, it's more of a joke, nowadays. Wish it weren't so, but it is what it is. As long as one of them is at the top of their game, I'll be happy.

@@Nick_MG gt7 has mostly older models, sans maybe 3 cars which are 22,23 yr models, like the 400z, civic type r, nismos z, etc. there are a few 20 yr models as well. but we have a lot a first year production models like the 15 hellcat, instead of the newer models. while missimg some of the cooler old race cars like the nismo 380rs,amuse s2000,cusco imprezas, t
m. evos, calsonic gtrs, etc. which personally i would like to see return. we also dont have alot of the newer racecars currently being used. from f1 to nascar, granted i know why.

Sure, if it was a PS4 version to compare, I'd argue it would be appropriate to use an S, but if polyphony gets to show off on their fastest platform, why shouldn't Forza be able to? Some of us can afford either, and only really care about the end product.

What you say is exaggerated. Saying that details don't matter is stupid. Details always mattered. Maybe in some competitive FPS games losing detail for fps is good but other than that 60+ fps is enough for casual games.
@@rainyt9525 It's not at all what I said. My message was that details you never really see anyway aren't worth the trade off that rtx comes with.
To appreciate the differences of rtx, you have to do a direct comparison. The fake techniques we had in recent decades are well established for good reason.
I don't want to say that rtx as a technique is a bad idea. From a designer perspective, it solves some fundamental problems with lighting but for the consumer, it's just an overly expensive gimmick. IMHO texture resolution increase, dynamic lighting, shadows and and displacement mapping had the most substantial impact on graphics improvement.

Bro u got my brain with, see left, see right. When they are stacked atop each other.
Reflextion is only wlone way to utilize raytracing. However, what forza does is much more eith it. The issue with your shadows is actually one of those. In short, the forza uses raytracing for lighting (which provides much much much more accurate colors and lighting while might have an issue with shadows).
Ill start playing FM8 again when the physics don’t suck entirely
People also gotta realise that on GT7 its solid tree shadows as if its the shadow of a wall or person, where as Forza has the light shine through the trees individual branches making more realistic (if a little jaggy) shadows.
Digital Foundry made an hour long video comparing these games, GT7 won by a mile.

Most videos are biased towards GT7, I live GT7 but it doesn’t win by miles in physics which should be the most important thing on a racing game.
@@FredoNavajas92 gt7 compared to more serius sim is a bit worse but forza have shitty one, play with wheel (if you can since i have a thrustmaster t-gt 2 and i can't play on forza motorsport but i can on forza horizon) and you see forza have far the worst force feedback of any recent racing game. Gt7 is much better than forza on physic.

This is not necessarily the limits of hardware it just shows that GT and the studios behind the game put far more effort and time making the game
Well I'm somewhat of a common man myself, and I've never really realized what ray tracing is. Thank you for the demonstration.
Forza definitely is capable of better details and reflections, but GT has the more natural looking global illumination and static shadows on the vehicle. Forza has too many surfaces with full reflections that should have occlusion shadows instead (and a number of surfaces with shadows baked incorrectly), both inside and outside the cars. GT just bakes them in where they're supposed to be and it works. GT also gets light lenses a whole lot better; Forza makes lenses look like a transparent decal over a lighting assembly with no lens, GT looks like there's a substantial piece of plastic or glass. More disgraceful is Forza has been missing these details since the XBox 360, but GT had this all figured out back on PS2. I've seen screenshots from GT4 that look more natural than some screenshots from Forza today, even if there are other tells in environment textures and geometry to show the generational gap.

I left the Xbox just to play Gran Turismo 7 but I have to admit that Forza looks better in this comparison. The trees are sharper and to be honest the shadows look sharper. Lighting is definitely better.

I honestly think FM8 is a really good game (hate me all you want idc) i see it as a good game from the physics i honestly have fun driving the nordschliefe in any car i want, the physics and graphics are astounding when running on a 85 inch 8k tv with surround sound and me personally i think forzq has the better camera settings being available to change the FOV is really a game changer and the game doesnt have the stiff 3rd person view like gt7. In all seriousness i like gt7 its fun to play but i personally think that forza has the edge in terms of graphics, camera settings and sound
Tbh couldn't agree more. I tried the proper sim games and couldn't get into them I like this as its more of a simcade and to me the physics are perfect, I like that you can so easily lose it as it makes you feel on edge at all times and I love saving it. For the way that I like to play the game, I think Gran turismo would be a bit dead for me. But at the end of the day, it's all personal preference 😊

for those saying the car looks like plastic, im going to let u know, thats how the paint is on the real car, im sorry, and also this short doesn't do the road textures on gt7 justice, however the shadows re better in forza because gt7 was made for ps4 and doesnt have ray tracing atm, but also is made to run on vr on ps5 as well so adding it would cause motion sickness do to frame rates being lowered... forza isnt a vr game (this is not a complaint)
but after seing a video compairing cars in game to cars in real life (not showing 2 cars but 3) gt7 has the more accurate paint and car models, its the paint used on the car irl thats the problem

Do you all see how the car in forza looks a bit greyish, including the shadows. That is because of ray tracing, ray tracing is the # of times a photon bounces in all surfaces, as the the photon bounces it takes a bit of the color of the previous surface and adding it to the next one, the more colors are added to a surface the more dull the color will turn out to be. That is why if you look out in real life, all the colors look kind of grey as opposed to saturated colors as in the case of the very intense blue of the shadows in GT7 car. There is no "sim ray tracing", there is only ray tracing.
The thing is, Forza is too washed out
2014 Assetto Corsa with 4k textures and 3d trees and CSP and Pure looks so much better. 😅

I really don't get using race tracing for racing games. I do not need high quality lighting. As long as I can see the track, other cars and my braking points I don't need anything else.
Here i am playing on a 3070ti on medium settings getting 40 fps with dips down into the 20s 😅
GT has always looked like a plastic room compared to most other games. No grit whatsoever to the environment or track, which makes it look fake and unrealistic

I think forza looks more real. The lights going through the trees so there is going to be spots not just straight shade. Both are racing games but still very different so in the end doesn’t matter.

@@2seepno it does not look like real life. Real life is not over saturated with crushed shadows. Forza actually has a more real life look than GT7 does, which is why people don’t like it. I’m not a fan of either game, I’ve got both. And Forza has the issue of things just looking blurry when you move. Until they fix the graphics issues I’m not playing it. But GT7 does not look like real life.
The ONLY aspect in ANYTHING where Forza looks better is this example of raytracing. Literally everything else from tracks to models to trees to everything is better in GT7. I’m an Xbox player.

Forza doesnt have license plates and no license plate lights. You arent suppose to see ray tracing on number plate spot, you should be seeing NUMBER plate.

I absoluted HATED FM when it came out last year..but now it looks a little better and im actually having more fun online with it.. GT7 still looks better but FM is looking better than when it released.
The updates have been good yeah, but if they truly want the game to make a turnaround there’s gotta be some major changes made. Remastering tracks, remodelling cars and getting the horizon 5 sounds ported over would probably make it a good game, add maybe a rally DLC (doesn’t really have to be any more in depth than GT’s) and you’re pretty golden

You need a graphics card that alone cost 4 times the cost of a PS5 to get one part of the game to look better. Not to mention all the rest of the components required for the computer to work.
And still the car models in FM suck and the track scans are all incorrect or outdated.

It’s a night and day comparison, for a has significantly more detail into tracks and vehicles, gran turismo simply doesn’t look as good forza does, it still looks like it’s on a ps4
The whole ray tracing thing always makes me laugh. It's such a tiny detail that makes next to do difference and yet it absolutely tanks performance. We're seeing the law of diminishing returns in full flow with graphics now... Don't get me wrong, it's a cool feature but if you offered me ray tracing or an extra 10 fps, I'd go with the fps every single time in every single situation.
Forza looks better on PC than GT on PS5. When you can turn everything to extreme. Ultra is for peasants.

I think forza looks better but not all the models look better. Everything comes down to nitpicks for me, I think the gameplay is what we should be talking about like how forza has a terrible unlock system
I cannot believe people compare Forza to Gran Turismo for realism. last time I checked I couldn’t drive a Hot Wheels track IRL
Forza Horizon and Forza Motorsport are two different game series.
The problem with Forza Motorsport is when you don't have a Xbox or a powerful PC the game looks Bad and it's not performing good😢
