    This channel single handedly helped me make the decision to tackle the full rebuild on my 96 xp rather than buying a new or used motor and rebuilt carbs. Thank you! I had been following you on ig since the original post with all the xps in the garage

    Very nice tutorial. I need to look into a sonic cleaner. The pine sole is a good idea. Didn’t know it would remove the paint like that. I’ve always scraped and wire brushed all the loose stuff off before repainting. I’ve been using good old rust oleum black appliance paint for carbs for years. Good idea on the engine paint though. I like the bronze color carbs on the rossier ski

    So for the low speed and high speed things on the carbs. Would both carbs be 1 rotation out or would it only be low speed if so then how much would I do for high speed.

    • @TodayWeWrench

      Both low speed jets are 1 turn out and both high speed jets are 0 turns out. Do not crank the needles in.

    Hello and thanks for the great videos.. especially on the vintage skis. I have a question in regard to replacing the dreaded grey fuel lines. have a 1997 GTX (787/800) Can the smaller hoses between the 2 carbs be replaced without removal of the carbs? Does the flash arrestor/air filter require replacing and it there any product to spray in the carbs and run through to clean at all in the ski? Thanks so much in advance?

    I haven't been able to find any information about the positioning of the needle arm in relation to the carb body or diaphragm. Do you know how to tell if the arm is set properly? For example should the arm be flush with the body, 1mm higher than the body. There are no specs. Thanks.

    • @TodayWeWrench
      @TodayWeWrench  Před 3 lety

      @@asht0nwilliams If you own calipers. set the caliper to .020. Drag the sharp pointy ends on the caliper along the edge of the rave valve to scribe a line on the rave valve. Using a half round file, remove .020 from the leading edge of each rave valve.If your new piston were .050mm oversized, you would remove .010. The only oversized piston you can use without cutting the rave valve back is .025 oversize. I do not suggest you use a grinding wheel for this process. You can accomplish this easily with a hand file, and have more control of the finished product. The whole operation should not take much over 10 minutes.
