Jack Ovens - Jak na to + styl
Hey mate! I absolutely love your no nonsense approach to your cooking and it’s very informative! I have made countless recipes of yours! Love from Perth mate! X
Appreciate that! Thank you. Glad you enjoy them
That’s a great idea. Making a roast plus steaks with that big piece of beef
Had to edit to add this part, but keep up the tips like this, very handy. Thank you Chef Jack
Glad you think so! Thanks, Joey
@@ChefJackOvens I’m buying a bigger piece next week and doing exactly this. I’ve seen them but wasn’t sure what to do with them as I’ve often compared the price and it’s cheaper per kilo more often than not than precut meat. Now you have shown me what I can do with it. So many meals too. You really have helped me so much Chef Jack. I’ve been making many of your delicious meals, my husband is very impressed with what I’ve been turning out. I tell him it’s all your help. Thank you 🙏
Good tip. Never bought that much cow meat, but have done this type of thing with ~3 kg pork shoulder chunks and it saves you decent money.
Now this is a great video, thanks !
Always love your videos. Thank you Chef
Thanks so much
Oh yes! This is really the way to go. I do this with whole beef tenderloin so I can get filet mignon, chateaubriand, tips and tails, etc all at a MUCH better price, plus I can control the thickness of the steaks. Also, most butchers tend to trim all the fat off, which makes me sad! 😂 This solves that issue.
We do this, and season them with salt and pepper and garlic powder, vacuum seal them, as we Sous Vide our steaks at 52 degrees, and sear in a cast iron pan, it's a great money saving, great video Chef Jack
i do the same but purchased the Su v gun. its well worth the result for the cost and cast iron sear is sad compared to the gun
@@johnf6288 those Sous Vide Guns are freaking brilliant, it's something we are looking at investing in
Hi Jack, Very informative video. EXCELLENT. Very nice cut of steak as well.
Cheers Des!
1:22 you should follow up on this in another few videos about what exactly you would use this for while making said dish
Love this tip! As you say, could work out cheaper in the long run. I'm going to get family who live close to me to chip in and divvy up the goodness.
Brilliant 😊
🙌🙌
Here is what I consider to be a half decent tip if you live in the United States. Every holiday, my local Walmart in a rural area has ribeye roasts for sale, some boneless some bone in. Obviously they are very expensive. Almost every case in the last two years there have been left over ribeye roast after the holiday and the sell by date means they must be sold or disposed of. In every case at every holiday if there were any ribeye roast mark down on their last day they can be sold I buy them all. I've purchased as many as nine at one time and the discounts have been approaching 50%. Perhaps in your Walmart this doesn't happen but it would pay to check. My Walmart opens at 6 AM in the morning and I am standing at the door when they open and I go directly to the meat department knowing that those roasts were marked down overnight. I hope this helps certainly helped me and my friends who I buy them for. Remember on the package it tells you to sell by date so make note of that. Currently there are six of them at my Walmart and the sell by date is May 10, 2024.
Best tip ever!!! 😋 going for it😅

Here is another tip that has worked for me as well, I always ask someone in the department if there are any more of them that aren't in the cooler . Their vacuum sealed so they can go right to your freezer that's what you want but I many times cut them into ribeye steaks.
@@theresamarie7679
Here's another tip I just thought of which has worked for me at Walmart, they have beef tenderloins (entire filet mignon) with the same situation meaning a sell by and I've gotten two of those this year so far, again at the discount.
@@yt650 awesome 👌 keep em coming 😎
Do yourself a favour. Get your hands on some Blue Dot 🔵 rib-eye from PEI Canada. I guarantee it is the best steak you’ll ever taste. It’s unbelievable
best way for red meat is a vacuum sealer
100%
Cheers for the info 🫡
Jhayco 2.0 is in the houseeeee😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Where did you go in Australia to get a Rib Eye like that? I’ve been looking for places to buy them in Sydney so I can break them down myself
Good old Costco
Hey Jack, you're in Adelaide right? Where do you source meat cuts like this? I'm in Adelaide too and have always wondered. Can't get this sorta thing at Coles right? Great video btw :)
Hey! Yeah I’m in Adelaide. I got this from Costco
@@ChefJackOvens Awesome. Absolutely doing this!
I do this with other cuts of beef that aren't as expensive as rib-eye.
Need to make a nice steak one of these days
I do this all the time. My question is, is it better to cut my steaks before freezing, or keep it whole and cut them when I'm ready to grill them?
Cut then freeze.
@@ChefJackOvens thank you brother! I appreciate ya
update you description, MEAL PREP CHANNEL IS LIVE!
Yummy 👌 😇 😋 😊
When cooked
$256?? Where from?? Wouldn't be from Woolies or Coles, would it??
Costco 👌
@@ChefJackOvens Spewing. I'm not going all the way to Melbourne from Geelong.
🥩🤘👍
How can ppl afford meat...10oz ribeye $20 ....just not right
Considering this exact steak cost $80-$100 when going out for dinner. $20 for a steak of the same quality at home is pretty good. Plus you’re not eating this everyday. Also, these steaks are large, cut them smaller and get more. There’s also 1.4kg roast here that can be cut down. If you cut these to 310g, you’ll get 18 steaks. That works out to be $14 per steak.
