Great! Well done Jim - ‘Halloween’ is a classic and one of my fave horror films.
I’m glad they did the recent trilogy of Halloween films where they said ‘just forget the shit that happens in all those sequels’ and rewrote the storyline between original film and today. Those three were really good.
Once again, keep up the good work!

It's a great film that really shows how much you can do with a very basic setup a bit of creativity. Michael fading out of the shadows near the end is such a simple effect but it works incredibly well.

I agree, this film is a classic. While I can enjoy some of the sequels, I do think this one could've worked as just a standalone film.

Carpenters skill as you say is making everyone and everything "normal" even the nominal "star" pleasance of the production is relatively low key. Cundeys beautiful photography & JC direction and pacing are still a prime example of how to do it right (the terrible awful sequels, & rip-offs) Friday the 13th are corporately produced and thibk replication the same as original (1sr attempt) often made by hacks as well.
Wonderful JLC deserves more credit than ever given as it clear that warm naturally funny person she plays isnt so from herself.
    Great review of undoubted classic

So true and rightly said about Michael (the Shape) being so frightening because he doesn’t say anything. Speaking no words, making no sound and just being so still and whatever other words - makes a character all the more scary and in the Halloween films works to such great effect - similar to Leatherface in Texas Chainsaw Massacre (perhaps)
Saying that, my other horror favourite is Pennywise the Clown from ‘It’ - his voice is scary stuff - but, on the whole silence is scarier

Halloween is a great horror. Easily could be ranked number one for horror films. It’s in the conversation anyway
Jim, on the horror stuff, have you ever seen ‘GhostWatch’? It was a spoof documentary horror by the BBC in ‘93 - I was 11 years old and traumatised by the scary stuff in that, wouldn’t wanna be left alone for the weekend. Then someone had the sheer audacity to say ‘oh they were talking to Richard and Judy on This Morning on Friday, it’s all scripted and acting not real’
Obviously it’s not freakin’ real, I can see that now, god damn it, but still it gave me absolute nightmares! Well, if you haven’t, give it a search on CZcams. The programme itself was banned due to sad and tragic reactions by young viewers
I’ve just seen you’ve got like 150 videos uploaded on this channel. Man I’m gonna be kept entertained! 👏👏

I'm sorry this movie is not "great" and its nowhere near the best horror movie ever made.
