There's a difference between a puzzle and a password. Puzzle gives you all the hints you need to solve it. Here, you need to know the sequence to open it beforehand.
That’s a very clever use of a few simple mechanisms. I’m curious of two things; 1) is that the ONLY combination that opens it? It seems likely to me that the constraints that make the shuttle settle in the open position might also settle in that position from other sequences. 2) Can it be reset like an adjustable combination lock?

Over $450 US is insane for this box. You could get a really really nice Japanese puzzle box for that price or several smaller nice ones. Mine is like 12 moves, was less than $100, and is a solid well made box. I think its better than the one in this video anyways.
I like that the solution is to line up the semicircles, but also requires several not-immediately-clear steps to do it. It’s simultaneously secure and satisfying.
Anyone else get that sense of satisfaction everytime it clicks when he slides the panels across? And the end when he unlocks the box is even more satisfying!

I have a box kinda similar to this! One of the local shops sells these with intricate designs on the top and I think they are genuinely so cool! Mine is of a wolf howling at the moon.

This is a "Hakone Zaiku" - a traditional trick box from the Hakone region of Japan. There are also more complicated boxes with mechanisms that can only be opened by moving them in different places multiple times.
That was a good one and the first time i ever got one right.
