May the Force be with you! - Zábava
I know that Star Wars isn't shy about the Empire's Nazi Germany inspirations, but Planet B-Bel's culture and aesthetics are essentially Vichy France IN SPACE! Complete with a focus on espionage and cabaret culture, also highly reminiscent of the French Resistance of World War II.
Bro, this is WWI
This is the Story of Mata Hari
This and Screecher's Reach definitely deserve a continuation. Excellent story telling.
My two favorites as well!
hell yeah, love this one and screecher's reach
Agree. My two favorites.
Truth be told most episodes in this season could easily be place somewhere and sometime in the Star Wars universe. I love this. Think only episode 7 can't fit anywhere.
Definitely agree. These 2 episodes had massive cliffhangers.
those two stole this season's spotlight
Nothing fills me with glee more than watching Kyle and Bendu after a long days work. This is the way.
My guess is it was the imp officer who kidnapped the son who shaved/surgically cut off the guy's horns and probably had his eye removed too to make him appear human
A mother's love for her child runs so deep. This episode took me back to losing my own mum to cancer back in 2020. I'd give anything to have her embrace me again. Thanks for the great reaction.
Man this one always hits me for some reason, every reaction I've seen as soon as they get to the part where she's hugging him and saying "the Empire already took everything, when they ripped you away from me" I just get a little well of tears every single time, it gives us that insight into just how bad the Empire was in the every day life of people from other planets, getting conquered and having families torn apart, very WWII/Nazi-esque. I really hope they give these animations the ability to continue these projects, even if it's outside of Visions, just let them use the IP to continue their small stories.
What I LOVE about Visions Season 2 is that each of the studios infuse their contribution with their respective cultures... and that is SO Star Wars! Star Wars IS a melting pot of sorts with different races, nationalities, creeds, beliefs, etc., that come together beautifully into one singular universe. Season 2 definitely embraces what is at the heart of Star Wars... bringing stories together from different peoples' perspectives and cultures to create a holistic experience. Well done Visions.
So great how they pull the Neo / Morpheus save from the building to the ship at the end!
What's even cooler is that the actor who played the Merovingian in the sequels also voiced the character Jon in this short!
@@madisonwhovian943 jejeje this is great to read! AWESOME!
Forgot to mention earlier:
Some studio trivia for the shorts.
Ep 1 is Studio El Guiri, Spain. Trollhunters (series).
Ep 2 is Cartoon Saloon, Ireland. Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea, Wolfwalkers.
Ep 3 is Punkrobot, Chile. 2016 Oscar winning short Bear Story.
Ep 4 is Studio Aardman, UK. Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run.
Ep5 is Studio Mir, Korea. Legend of Korra, Voltron, Kipo, Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, Dota, etc.
Ep6 is La Chalette, France.
Ep7 is Studio 88, India.
Ep8 is Studio D'Art Shtajio, a Black owned Anime studio in Japan. They did work with Lucasfilm for this short.
Ep9 is Studio Triggerfish, South Africa.
Thanks, Kyle! Thanks, Bendu! Thanks, Nerd Chronic! 💃 I'm so glad you referenced THE TRIPLETS OF BELLEVILLE (2003); I love that one... and it's wild to fathom it's been 20 years since I first saw it. #KyleKatarn #StarWars #StarWarsVisions #TheDancerSpy
I’m curious when everyone here figured out the twist? I knew it as soon as they showed his eye.
There are not devaronians, it's a new unknown species i think.
I'm always so sad after some of these are over because I need more! They are so good, especially this one in particular
This episode was absolutely amazing!
2:09 those viechels look like mini rig toys.
I'm glad I've waited to go back and watch these again as its fun seeing other's takes on some of these. Big one I missed the first time around was the nub marks on the son's head as I was so focused on his eyes, seeing if he'd removed the patch or not.
Love it!
It might be 'Mother' was in the brief for the studios. Mother Nature etc. These are great. Loving it.
Just like the studio MIR one this brought the insane next level animation, blew me away : D
Another short without a Force user in the lead role. And just like episode 4, this could easily be slipped right into canon.
I think 2-3 could more easily be canon than 4 tbh. We’ve seen Tatooine post episode 6 and there’s no sign of Wedge or any kind of academy.
@@Jabberwocky415 didn't really seem like Tatooine to me
I think 5 might be able to if we assume it's taking place at any point in the Old Republic when the Sith Empire was around.
@@Ziggaton really? I didn’t see a single thing that was inconsistent with how Tatooine has been portrayed historically. It looked and felt exactly like it.
@@Jabberwocky415 However, we know from the comics that the rebellion was recruiting between ANH and ESB. Ep 4 could be a more lighthearted take on it. With Luke not there, Wedge could fill in as one of the fighter pilots that was there when the first death star was destroyed for recruiting and PR purposes. And if the Empire did show up, he is a skilled pilot to help evac.
Ep2 and ep5 easily in the Old Republic era, Ep1 towards the end. Ep3 is such a one shot outer rim story in the og timeline. Same with ep6 and ep8. Ep7 could be Bad Batch era.
Ep9 I want to say High Republic but after the Sith war in the Old Republic also works for it.
Great reaction, Kyle and Bendu. My take on this (excellent) story is: 20 years earlier, this high-ranking Imperial conquered a village, and decided to abscond with the Mother's 1-and-half-year-old Son, as the ultimate spoil of war...he raised him as his own Son, having the child's natural-born horns surgically removed, as a toddler, most likely...and raised him to believe that the Imperial was his Father...or, that he was adopted as a Foundling/orphan of The Clone Wars...thus, this kid was indoctrinated to believe that Might Makes Right, and that The Jedi and Force-users are evil...and that The Rebellion must be crushed and erased from the galaxy...now, nearly in to his 22nd year of life, he (by the will of The Force?) encounters his birth Mother...one who most definitely is Force-sensitive (hence her acrobatic and supernaturally-timed attack and defensive moves), like he probably is, in a nascent, unclear way...now, after this fateful meeting, he will begin to question EVERYTHING he's been told and led to believe over his entire existence...eventually making him in to a last minute Rebel, just before the time of the Return Of The Jedi. (Imagine the conversations this Former Imperial could have with the Former ISB Agent, Alexsandr Kallus...)
I want this Imperial officer, his Mother, and the rest of the cast of players, to all be featured somewhere within the live-action branch of The Mandoverse (although, I'd have no problem with them appearing in The Bad Batch either). Their story would be intriguing to see in The SWU, as another reminder of just how much The Empire took from the galaxy...
May The Force Be With You 2...
New reaction!! Let’s goooo!!
Only watched until episode 7 so far but this one and episode 2 were my favorites.
First ever appearance of a, shall we say well-built Stormtrooper. :) At last my dreams of wearing the armor can become semi-canon.. :D
13:08 Motherhood and family, generally. Even in the second episode, the Sith is identified as «Sith Mother»...
Best one of the season I reckon. Though I haven't watched the last one yet. But this one really blew me away with the animation, the attention to detail, the French nazi regime tie-in, and of course the mother finding back her long lost son story.
This one and Screecher's Reach were my favorites of the season. I would love follow up episodes to these stories.
@@JessAnderson1988 Really? I didn't like Screecher's Reach at all. Glad you did though :)
@@Flippokid Wow really? That surprises me; I think you're the first person I've seen say that they didn't like it! That's too bad. And yes, I LOVED it!
This was definitely my favourite out of the shorts. While I do think that the voice acting could've been better like how the line "what did the empire do to you" needed more emotion behind it, but everything else was spectacular.
I love this episode. It's in my top three of the series
I don't think the son took away his horns. My guess is that it was the empire that took the horns and his eye, the two prominent features of his race, to make him a part of the empire and not seeing tke kinship to his actual people.
Give us a live action of this NOW! Fabulous reaction to a fabulous episode!
This give me Glorious Bastards vibes. How it takes place in France, the Nazi took over and the girl wants to take revenge with the guy who ordered to kill her family. Love it!
The things people have to do under occupation, and what those occupiers do as they ravage a civilian population for shits and giggles. The horror 😭
Top plot twist!!!
IMO🤓
This was one of my favorites
This season of Star Wars Visions is the best season, hands down! I wasn't one who liked all of the first season, I liked the first episode very much and the others were, sadly forgettable to me =/ That's not what's happening this season, though! The animation is great, for sure, but the stories feel so much stronger this time around. The Spy Dancer isn't on par with animation of today, but that's not a bad thing--I like how it reminds me of 80s cartoons like Voltron and Robotech! The chubby stormtrooper really reminded me of characters like Hunk from Voltron and Ben Dixon from Robotech! I agree, I would love to see a sequel of this story!
To be honest, I want to see some of these characters make it over to cannon. Lola, Toul, Ara, Loi'e for sure, but I wouldn't mind seeing more of Rani and her Jedi Master.
This season of Star Wars Visions did a lot for Star Wars by bringing in diversity. I see the mother themes too, but more than that I see a lot of cultures and histories woven into these new Star Wars stories. I hope we see more of this in conical stories, as they expand on what we know of Star Wars--Korea gave us some sick Sith designs that need to be copied! Who doesn't want a Bichan figure?!!!!
I hope we get a season three, and while I want to see more studios get involved, I would not be upset about a sequel or two =)
Literally need a part 2 to episodes 2,3,5, and 6 but especially 2 and 6.
Love to see a fat storm trooper jejej!
This was awesome
Is it just me, or does that frog character look a lot like Hopidiah Plantar.
Great reaction! Def was my fav along with ep2. If you guys ever tune into this one again on your own time; I suggest watching it in French. I really dislike the font and background of the subtitles for Disney plus. It’s worth it though
Another banger 👌
My problem with I AM YOUR MOTHER is she didn't have a Darth Vader-like voice,.
Why does the dancer remind me of Celine Dion??? Is it just because she's French???
so if you think of this as a ww2 with France with Germany.
3:45 - i think they are not
devaronians!
Only male devaronians have horns.
Season two visions was waaaayyyy better than one
I swear in a few years, we'll get a Ukrainian animation studio doing their own take on a Star Wars story...
The only Galactic Empire I like is the New Galactic Empire/Fel Empire. But yeah this was some French resistance Vs Fascist Nazi Germany in space.
Yeah I love Star Wars Visions I just wish they'd have an episode every week all year round
Oh, she STRAIGHT UP went for the Inglorious Basterds Film Festival plan..... 🫡
