Oscar Pereira I live in Western Europe and have never met a Real Madrid fan in my life
The americans rely on music played to them, to make noise. The europeans make the music themselves and sing different songs and chants that are specific to each team.
Not only that but all the flares, fireworks flags being displays are all funded and co-ordinated by the supporter groups. Meanwhile in the US its the clubs that do stuff to create atmosphere not the supporters themselves.
MuffinsCrib Sadly English football is heading that way. It’s good that fan violence has disappeared but I’ve been to watch games at Man City (not as a fan) and they have comfy leather seats in some areas. That ain’t football! If the fans are too comfortable then the atmosphere is too. It takes away the edge.
Jonathan T look at the club you are talking about before suggesting that the whole of English football is like that. Man City have no history and have fans that can’t even fill their own stadium. Check out lower league teams and even premier league teams have amazing atmosphere.
Liverpool being a good example
Ayan Ismail Well I’m saying it’s heading that way. City are a strange one because they are generally well supported but the quick financial turnover has seemingly left them without a strong core. United and Liverpool can still create good atmospheres on their day but I’m talking about the match day experience as a whole becoming more Americanised. I support a third tier team who have a terrific away following who support the team for 90 mins but it’s a different atmosphere at home games because the die hards are split up. Mostly at top clubs it feels as though fans are becoming more like the customers than supporters. Another thing is the traditional English stadium will soon be a thing of the past which is a true shame.
in USA people react to music.. In Europe, we make our own parties.

You don't see ever in Europe any messages like "Jump around" or "Clap now" or "Sing a song" and whatever on screens, people do it on their own, without any order, because they love their teams.
And in Europe they're clubs, not franchises. New club's are get rare, and never does a club move city / location. So the songs in Europe have generally developed over years, passed on from generation to generation. I saw a Heat game in Miami and was appalled by the passivity of the fans, prescription of entertainment, between every quarter, and I even think during a time out. Fansn Europe generally care for their city/club more than the national team too, at least in the UK. Club football in Europe isn't used for patriotism for domestic games.
Gabe G. damn that IQ is at 0 no wonder you are american
Gabe G. That's called passion, something you probably know nothing about.

I think you can sum it up like this:
Sports in USA is more of a spectacle, or a show. People are tailgating with their families, they put their hand on their brest and sing the national anthem, the Stadium manager directs when they chant by playing specifik songs and they cheer when they score.
In Europe sport is religion. Most of the clubs have 100 year+ history and the fans are raised to be hardcore fans of the clubs. These elaborate chants are developed through the history to lift their own club, to insult the other team or the other teams players or sometimes comment on politics in the country.
European (hardcore) fans live and die by their club. Americans cheer for their team and go to the game to be entertained.
This ^
Also most clubs in Europe are unique to a particular city so it also raises kinda of a "city pride" when you face a team from a rival city
i agree for the most part but teams in america have just as die hard fans as europe. how they show their passion may be different but just because we dont sing and cheer doesnt mean we dont have die hard fans. i do think however that european teams have a higher percentage of fans who are more passionate and die hard than america
Well put. I will love Reading til the day I die. No matter what league we are in I'll always be there to support them
"Hardcore" is a little bit of an overstatement. Good hooligans, yes, but not hardcore. We are talking about Europeans here. Hardcore is the South American ones, that is hardcore. That's criminally hardcore.
In Brazil it's a religion too, as Europeans brought fottball to Brazil. Our way of supporting is pretty much like in Europe, spontaneous chants made specially for each team, fireworks, giant flags.
Obviously win Europe
That's EU flag
@@chrislfc2317 and whats wrong with that? He litteraly say "win Europe" EU=European Union
@@Flandre-Scarlet_495 I think that you're an fucking American. European Union doesn't mean the whole Europe. Only European countries can get to EU. You may have heard of BrExit... Britain Exit. That means that Britain is gonna leave EU behind, but that doesn't mean that they're not on Europe.
@@Flandre-Scarlet_495 you're 100% an American... let me explain... The EU is an Union of fully independent countries, but it doesnt involve all of Europe, there are many countries such as Bosnia, Serbia, Ukraine, Russia etc that are European countries but not members of the European Union
Jajajajajaajajaja 100% true, but you have not seen South America
you can't really compare.
In America it's just a one off day for the family where you have fun and sing along to the music being played.
In Europe it's a much more significant part of their lives, they go to that stadium every week, their club is part of their identity.
It s like their life is soccer,I hate that
Themistoklis 26 its because the teams represent so much more than the city that you live in in europe. in the nfl its a business, but soccer clubs in most of the world represent political and religious and cultural views. like when barcelona and real madrid play in el clasico, thats like a proxy for the right wing, royally supported castillans of real madrid fighting against the left wing, catalan culture of barcelona.
meanwhile in the nfl half of the people
in the city support a different team
seriously though, look up the history of barcelona and real madrid, its good stuff

Europe: life
no name winning touch down fans jump up and down goal to win World Cup throws self onto floor and screams
Issa Bird I don't get what you mean but if you watched this World Cup, you know Croatia won 2nd place. When team came back, celebrations lasted for almost a month. First one was in Zagreb and it took them 8 hours to get to the square from airport (driving usually lasts for 30 mins). People just forgot about everything and went on the streets to celebrate. I'm not wrong when I say football is our life
no name What I’m saying is that there is more passion of a thrill seeing your team score for example I’m Hispanic and when México scored that goal vs Germany I was very happy futbol is something different it gives you an experience you will never get in football
Issa Bird oh i got you wrong😂i see what you mean now
Issa Bird its also club games vs national, I guarantee that Mexican fans are much more ecstatic about seeing their national team win than seeing their favorite liga mx team win. So judging a world cup win to an Nfl win, or any other club sport is pointless. There is hardly any pride that comes with a club team winning a game, but when your nation wins a game then its people are filled with pride.
There is no place for comparison. NFL teams are companies. European teams are institutions. They are integral part of our cities and towns. Try to explain to anyone outside of the US what team relocation means. Almost no one will understand. To us it is much more than just a sport. It is part of our identity, bacause it not just to decide to support a team and that's it. It is a combination between the game we love and the hometown we love. The teams were founded by people, who wanted to practice football at the place they felt the most at home. American football is business. It's all about optics, business plans, tv rights, attendance forecast, commercial breaks and tons of stuff, which has NOTHING TO DO with the game.
This comment is perfect.
You think American football is not a way of life there's only one team that a team has been relocated anf the city rioted the relocation of the team..look up the Cleveland Browns and when they left the fans literally sue the NFL... the city sue the NFL and got their team back.... Then you just got to look up College basketball/football environments college is where it's at....
Locomotion2121 - excellent comment.
Wimbledon FC was my team from childhood. I supported them before they were admitted to the Football League, through the glory days of the Crazy Gang, through the ground-sharing with Crystal Palace until the bitter end. MK Dons and AFC Wimbledon cannot replace Wimbledon FC - their history is ended.
@@MOBOBBA2166 - there have been at least three other American football teams which relocated:
Cardinals: from Chicago to St Louis 1960, to Phoenix 1987
Rams: Los Angeles to St Louis 1995, to Los Angeles 2016
Colts: Baltimore to Indianapolis 1984
Yeah agreed, imagine Real Madrid Ajax or any other team moving to another city......
That would be total blasphemy.
I’ve seen a few americans react to this and they all focus on the volume. In europe the creativity and unifying nature are more important. Every fanbase wants a ‘signature move’ of sorts.

This video does not serve the European football fans well at all. The passion in Europe is unreal and beautiful. It gets so loud that sometimes players are scared to go play away games at the rival's stadium.
I was at a Virginia Tech game (college football American) last year, and the stadium was so loud the opposing team who were #2 in the country has 7 false start penalties. Its was so loud the registered a 4.1 on the Richter scale (scale to measure earthquakes)

Biggest difference between european sport fans and american is that european chant during the game, american fans sit down and watch the game like they are in the cinema. So it´s comparing 5-10 min of cheering in the US to 60-120 min of cheering in Europe.
Then you have never been to any Seattle Seahawks (NFL) or Seattle Sounders (MLS) games. Fans stand all game long.
Many MLS team fans do chanting. The better chanting fans are in Seattle, Portland and Kansas City.
And by the way, that's not true that European football fans stand or cheer all game long. Most fans in the EPL, La Liga, Bundesliga and other leagues sit down during the game. The ones who do tend to chant-cheer nearly all game are the hardcore supporter clubs at one end of the pitch, not the regular ticket holders sitting on the sides. That is true in almost every European league but not at all clubs.
I was speaking generally, but I´m sure there are teams and games you are getting chant going in the US. Yeah, exactly, and that support culture dosn´t really exist in the US. Just standing and screaming now and then like they do in some of the clips or having some form of a coordinated chant with music is not "supporting" in my mind. This is my team, AIK, look how we act during games. czcams.com/video/XBIDTfRW7zc/video.html Now tell me there are teams in the US who act like this.

as a BVB fan, and a Liverpool enthusiast I cant help it.... YNWA always make me choke up, if you know the background it becomes such a powerful song.
especially when you realize that Celtic fans sing it better and pretty much every English team's fans used to sing it before Liverpool fan did.............................
No they don’t and no they didn’t mate
Yes they did, and they do, "mate".
A communal anthem of triumph over adversity, it seems particularly suited to ever-hopeful football fans crammed on to a terrace, although it actually began life as a Broadway showtune, in the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel. The best-known recording of the song, though, is a 1963 pop version by Liverpool’s own Gerry and the Pacemakers.
Gerry and the Pacemakers were from liverpool and that's why we adopted it much closer ties than Celtic have with the song and liverpool were one of the first clubs in the u.k to have a pre match DJ in the 60's so they used the song and it stuck stop talking crap.
+Hand Solo Lad are you stupid? Liverpool were the very first football team in the world to sing YNWA way back in the 60's and eventually adopting the Gerry and the Pacemakers version, you properly need to work on your football knowledge mate before you make a stupid comment again, Celtic didn't sing it until years later and then other teams eventually adopted it years later too, most in the 2000's like Dortmund and even FC Tokyo, literally zero English teams but Liverpool have ever had it as a song they sing.
"That was pretty good"? That was not a chant, It was your national anthem 😂😂
Hearing the whole of anfield ring out you’ll never walk alone is just footy as a whole
You'll Never Walk Alone always gives me chills. I've probably been hearing it my whole life and it never gets old
Same for me even though I'm a Spurs fan
It’s the only time in a game where they make noise
Look for a clip online, CZcams, of Liverpool playing somewhere in Australia and the entire stadium is singing you’re never walk alone which is a more massive euphoria than they get at Anfield. European fan culture is a lot different than U.S. I've noticed, that sports games in North America, for the most part, are places where you take your whole family, you get your nachos and you also enjoy the game. In Europe people are a lot more passionate, each team has a set of very very passionate fans and they all sing songs for their team. Unfortunately, there's a also a lot of hooliganism in Europe, mostly in the South.
East and North + Greece you mean.
When it comes playoff time or colleges in America, it’s not like how you said. Yeah for regular season it’s exactly how u mentioned, since it’s a business and that type of marketing is how you get more fans. Family=6 drinks, 6 nachos, 6 hotdogs but you get a family discount on your tickets so it seems cheaper. But playoff games and college sports are more prestigious and the money is made on the actual tickets since you can get away with spiking prices up. It’s more passionate and about the sport. In Europe, I’ve noticed that games that don’t have immediate impact, it’s more about the party and atmosphere rather than the game.
Every game has an immediate impact you either get the 3 points or you don't and as a European football fan I can tell you we care about that in every single match.
mostly in the south? The craziest hooligans come from england, germany and poland. Since when are those countries in the south?
England doesn't have hooligans anymore, thank goodness. But south eastern European countries definitely have them.

Hi Ethan..... I've been to Europe & the US many times & have been to many games of both codes & have seen the good, the bad & the truly terrifying sides of crowd behaviour, especially when alcohol is involved. The section that you loved with "You'll never walk alone" is a chant made famous by the Liverpool Football Club in England. One huge difference between the two: the away fans zone. I've never seen an away fans zone in a US game. There doesn't seem to be a culture of travelling to support your team. In Europe every stadium has a secured zone dedicated to the away fans. On one hand, that can generate security troubles, in and out of the stadium, on the other hand, it definitely boosts the stadium mood a lot. My experience as away fan have been the most thrilling.
Let's not forget that away fans in their small numbers of maybe 1500 in a 40,000 seater stadium would out sing the home support. Which shiws how loud and proud us football fans are!

Football fans sing their own songs. American fans sing what they're told. Not a Liverpool fan but good to see them do Walk On. It's pretty powerful, especially in a final etc.
YNWA was written by an American.
darrell sanborn jr so what? 😳
Your face during "You'll never walk alone".. Absolutely true. Good for you, your heart is alive.. YNWA
American fans? jajaja i don't see fans from Argentina, Brasil, México, Uruguayo, Chile, etc.
América it's a continent (not only a country).
american football fans. not american fans. American Football is a different sport.
Latinos get so petty about this, I would know I'm a mix breed mexican white kid from the border literally live a couple blocks from and skip of the creek from Mexico, America means USA bruh that's just the way it is, who'd wanna be known by there continent lacks individuality, also its kinda funny that The Nation of the united states is compared to the entire continent of Europe because it's so huge. Just saying Viva la raza (as in la raza humana) USA! USA!
P.S. Football or as they say around here El fútbol is the best, especially when it's The BPL or Bundesliga
argentinians, brazilians are never referred to as americans, americans always means people from the united states

Each team(well at least in England), we have like 2 or more songs for each team. Everyone singing it together in sync, is the real reason you come (and to watch of course :), an example of this is mil-walls' "no one likes us" ).
video of people chanting it ( I don't support millwall, but seen them as a good example): czcams.com/video/kdB2WBtzUDg/video.html
5:11 Liverpool had the best crowd by far. YNWA!!!
The Best European Chants are when the two separate Sides of a Stadium start singing different chant Parts. Which one which is also very entertaining is the Chant of the National team from Island ^^
In USA, there are rarely any spontaneous chants. It’s usually choreographed or supported by music from the stadium sound system. In Europe, it’s more spontaneous and creative where the supporters is the driving factor. If someone starts singing, everyone else joins in. And it goes on for a whole game instead of just at specific moments.
4:15 it’s a fire and people are shouting for help xD
Its a flare and they are not shouting for help they are shouting chants for their team
I recommend watching the funniest soccer chants, some of them are very creative
Great reaction bro
Yoooooooo I’m watching Castro’s stream An I just saw u pack road to the final messi gg bro 👏🏻👌🏻
you should watch south american football fans xD
You think european fans are passionate? Search for brazilian teams, like Flamengo, And Corinthians,or even watch the brazilian anthem during the 2014 world cup,its crazy
Arthur Frederico phahahaahah, o brasil n se compara a europa, aqui é onde se repira verdadeiramente o futebol
European fans look like little kids compared whit brazilian or argentinian fans, even colombians and mexicans have more passion
I was searching for a comment like this or I was going to post it, South Americans really have a passion like no one else
Jhon Antelo very true but the security and law is practically non existent compared to Europe
Diogo Melim slc, kkkkkk o que é o YNWA do Liverpool comparado a glr cantando em bavi,flaflu...
I think the main difference is how the american football teams take a big role with cheerleaders, halftime shows, bands... differents way to cheer for one's team
“Sophisticated” proceeds to light flares and smoke grenades.
You can't really compare them to be honest.
One reason are the Stadiums/Arenas and the distances between them. Because of that, in America you've got all home Arenas, maybe a few fans of the other team will travel to an away game, but they are too few in numbers to be recognized.
In Europe on the other hand the distances compared to the US are pretty small, so you have got a lot more away fans that are showing up. AND they will make an effort to out-shout the "enemy" fanbase. Also, the clubs have a reserved space for the away fans. So it's truly a Fan-War in Europe Stadiums.
Another reason... sad but true, football in Europe outruns EVERY other sport in numbers. So basically you could say, football (or soccer) is our only sport.
It's not completly true, but compared to the US with NFL, NHL, NBA and MLB (which are the top-leagues in the world). Our own leagues in these sports in comparison to the US are tiny and qualitative behind. And in most of these sports, our rules differ from yours. Why? I dunno, i don't get it either.
And what is a little unfair are the pictures with Fireworks!
Some fans may still smuggle them into the stadium, but you are not allowed to use them (in most parts of europe). Most clubs get a fine when their supporters use these in the stadiums.
Maybe it is different in Europe, but in the US we don't really care as much about what race an athlete is. While you are absolutely correct that most of our athletes in Basketball and American football are black, you are incorrect in assuming that people of different races won't be passionate about a sport because they are in the minority. If that assumption was true, then there would be no such thing as African American athletes, because up until Jackie Robinson in 1947 there was no African American representation in Any US team sport, and look where we are now with a majority of athletes in US being of African descent.
As for passion for sports, I can tell you that most of the white kids that I know are obsessed with basketball, even though there are very few white players in the NBA, and for the most part most idolize the best in the sport, like MJ, Lebron, and Curry. Like I said in the beginning though, maybe its just different in the US, but we care more about if an athlete can win games, then what race they are.
I see what you are saying, but who do you think athletes like Yao Ming were influenced by? Probably a black, or white nba player. Now I'm not saying that people everywhere are not racist, that would be naïve. But to say that people only follow their own race's preferences is simply wrong, there would be no white rappers if white people only listened to white music, or people like Jimmy Hendricks would never have been if Black people didn't like the overwhelmingly white preferred rock and role.
Now, I will agree with you that having someone of one's own race in a sport greatly influences the popularity of sports for their race (ie. Ling's influence on Chinese basketball, or George Taliaferro who opened the doors for African Americans to play American football), but it is not the only defining factor (and not even the most prevalent) in determining what cultural phenomena become popular to each race. In other words, of someone truly enjoys something, then they will enjoy that thing regardless if it is looked down upon by their own race or other races.
On a side note, the first truly big star in US soccer was the great Pele, not a white European. Unfortunately, after he retired soccer practically ceased to exist in the US until the 90s resurgence.
You'll never walk alone❤️
The best example of a comparison between the two sets is the "You're not singing any more" chant. It kind of sums up the entire debate I guess.
The Liverpool song stands above any other in the world. It gives me chills every time I see it. And the lyrics are perfect, "you'll never walk alone". What better lyric could fans sing to their soccer heros? It's like they are saying, "boys, we got your backs". Awesome.
Ayeee Wisconsin’s jump around made it!!
michael musarra it was still dead tho
React to the Iceland Viking clap! Amazing stuff
Iceland claps were taken from Polish hooligans from Hanball Club in Kielce City Poland - Icelandic people brought this Polish Hanball clapping so now everybody thinks it is some kind of Vikings ones but it is 100%Polish hooligans invention that popularizaded by Icelandish fan in Euro Competition 😁
The biggest difference is that we (european) football fans make party the whole game, not just before kick off like in the US.. ⚽️❤️
Greetings from Poland, from football team Piast Gliwice's fan, after all Lech Poznań's supporters are great crew, one of the best in Poland and maybe in this part of Europe. It's a good thing that you make comparisons American & European fans but I think that applause in European matches is the best all over the world, beyond Southern Ameirca and few part of Africa and Asia. At the end I'll tell you that Lech Poznań's fans at the movie applaused in Bosnia & Herzegovina, at the match with FK Sarajevo, this match is still known among Polish fans because in the night before the match the riots explosed at the streets of Sarajevo between hooligans of Lech Poznań & FK Sarajevo. Riots did last all the night.
Anfield baby! Ain’t nothing beating that atmosphere on a champions league night!

react to "You think NHL has the best hockeyfans? Welcome to Sweden! (Djurgårdens IF)".
One major difference between fans in America and fans in Europe is that in America most people support the different sports in their city. Like Houston Texans fans, if the Texans suck they can just go and watch the Astros. In Europe a large majority of football fans just support the football team even in cities and towns with multiple professional teams, most people will only care about their favourite sport.
A big difference is that in American football all chants are created by speakers or instruments but in soccer they just start in the crowd
I really enjoy American fans.
The atmosphere in MLS is awesome in my oppion,it seems they really enjoy the game.
American fans are shit compared to Europe
Let’s see a South American Crowd vs European Crowd. The original 4’s. Argentina, Brasil, Chile & Uruguay. That’s it.
Chile is a shit dude
I here “never walk alone so much” and that song still sends a shiver down my back listening to it
A major difference from what I’ve experienced is that American football fans (or North American sports fans in general) are getting entertained while European and South American soccer fans ARE entertaining, I think.
