A mother's love and pain
I cry every time when she mourns the fall of hometree😭when i rewatched it in the cinema the 1st film with a friend who hasn't seen it, I cried so hard I got a cold 🤧
The fact that Neteyam's last word was "Dad" is heartbreaking. He wanted so badly to impress and be like his father.

Oops. I got confused, I thought she had a younger sister because there was this photo of her with a younger Na’vi. So she does had a older sister who supposedly was to be with Tsu’tey.

Here are Neytiri's family members killed by humans in order:
Her big sister Sylwanin.
Her father Eytukan.
Her first born son Neteyam.
Imagine having that many of your family murdered and taken away from you. This is why her rage was astronomically high when Neteyam died. She's so fed up with the human invaders.
Wasn't sylwanin her little sister? (I think) poor neytiri has suffered too much. 😢

@@yubyub335 she was her older sister. she was originally paired with tsu’tey before she was killed in graces school.
I mean when Neteyam died, I just knew she was going to snap. Her past family members deaths had something to do with her rage, but the death of a child is no other pain, and it is incomparable to the point where it's the worst of the worst.
Also Neytiri was one of Grace's best students so I'd imagine she was close with Grace and seeing that Tsu'tey was betrothed to her older sister she was probably close with him also and grew up with him as well. She also had to leave her home and status to try and protect her family and her people leaving her mother behind as well.

@@1312soetc She lost: her sister, her Dad, her home (home tree), her uman/Avatar friend Grace, Tsu'tey (to which was initially promised), her Ikran, she had to leave her mother and the soul tree and now she lost her son.... Damn!!

@@dynahvelvixin.8615 the son for a son has double meaning tho and i know for sure neteyam wouldn't want that but at the end jake said "a son for a son" and pulls spider towards him meaning that after they lose a son they gain another which is spider

Shes one hell of a warrior, princess, daugther, sisiter, wife and mother. She lost so much and experienced so much pain.
Avatar is great but it honestly owes so much of its success to Zoe. She carried the first movie and really made me believe she was a 9ft blue alien.

Honestly, Neytiri has been through so much and lost too many.... Her sister, her father, the destruction of her home and being separated from her clan people and her mother.. The most heartbreaking one would be the loss of her son. I felt her anger and hatred through the emotional fight scene on the ship. It was the grief of a mother of her child's death to which was too much to bear... 💔
I cried. I wish that she could always be the princess and warrior in the forest with grace and pride.
This is simply beautiful, it perfectly captures the essence of Neytiri, her feelings towards her family, how she wants to protect them at all costs and the pain of loss ❤
I’m middle eastern and the Navi’s family values and sense of community feels really close to our culture and African cultures from what I’ve seen
They are based on Celtic, Polynesian and Maori tribes

Neytiri is Zoe Saldanas best role and performance. She proved it in that rage attack after losing Neteyam. She has never owned her characters quite like that.
Throughout the movie, I was in awe. Especially when family themes and the symbiosis of avatars with nature as a single ecosystem are considered.🦋🥶

amazing tribute. so beautifully crafted and brought me to tears reminding me off all the loss neytiri has had to endure. first, she has to experience war at such a young age and see the destruction of so many sacred sites. then she enters battle at 18, and her father dies by the same hands who killed her sister. when her ikran (seze) dies, their queues are connected and neytiri feels every inch of pain (emotional and physical) as her ikran. then, tsu'tey dies in battle, which who was the person she grew up with and the lover of her sister. after the war, her home is destroyed and she is forced to live in the mountains and flee from her clan. she is essentially shunned from her people so she can go to the metkayina clan where she endures more loss. she has to witness ronal losing her spirit sister and this reminds her of seze. she enters war again, witnesses hundreds more na'vi and animal death, and her oldest son dies. Neytiri is Pandora's fiercest warrior but I truly feel for her. I love her so much, Cameron give her a break please.
Well done. This should almost be required viewing for getting a refresher on Neytiri's arc heading into the third film.
Neytiri channeling her maternal rage to save her daughters will never not give me goosebumps.

When the Thanatos bowed to Neytiri I believed after watching the second movie that it saw her future as a mother and knows the feeling of losing a child. Everything is connected to Eywa and Eywa knows the way.
I wish before going into the final battle she would have put neteyams blood on her like war paint. The whole last scene is so insane I loved it.
I loved this movie as it displayed my culture -- maori quite a lot in the metkayina clan. Also, having poly/maori actors/actresses was quite awesome, and i really appreciate this movie.
