Hmm he's a bit of alright isn't he tbh I only watch The 1st Lord of the Rings it was so long it kind of put me off watching them. I love 2 Steps from Hell music themes and come across this scene though I like the instrumental version as well. The music is amazing well what do you expect from a Norwegian composer.. Epic!

This battle still makes one emotional. They realized, in the end, they had a common enemy. So, instead of fighting petty squabbles over shinies, the banded together to fight for their people. Excellent series! The entire thing from The Lord of the Rings to The Hobbit. Beautifully done!

The only thing dwarf hate more then elf is orcs ...so nothing to do with common squabbles ..they will still fight over those afterwards ...but if you die you cant :P
The dwarves going straight into action when the orcs showed up as the elves stayed looking is awesome.

the elves had no artillery. the dwarves shouldn't have sent in the goats and just battered the elves from afar. but it did make for a good action sequence.
Elves jumping over that draves wall to fight orcs is by far my favourite scene ❤🙌

I love the elves!!! Their preciseness and discipline is amazing to watch. Even when the dwarves broke their line, they were fluid in reforming their lines and allowing their archers to do the work. I wish there were more movies that portrayed the elves in this way!!

You do known the elfs are patetik, the dwarfs saved them and not the otherway around.

I mean, I get it, its an awesome movie moment, but in reality, they would have been skewered in a heartbeat. It would be much more helpful if they stood behind the dwarves and just headshoted the orcs to bits.
Oh and those anti arrow ballistas, they would have really came in cluch too ;)

Wrong. That was terrible and stupid teamwork. That was a total facepalm.
Because the dwarves have built a phalanx - a formation that is extremely difficult to break through by unorganized hordes of orcs. And what did the elves do? Instead of shooting from bows over the backs of the dwarfs and covering them from the flanks, they rushed with light infantry under the spears of the allied phalanx, ruining the whole essence of the dwarves' formation.
The united stand still gives me goosebumps. What an epic moment in the history of cinema! I can't recall any other scene as epic as it.

@@fit3z184 yeah, it's the hobbit. But this full scene wasn't in the movie. This was edited. It's like what would have happened if some of the dwarves hadn't stupidly gone up the mountain to fight the pale orc.

Watching the Lord of the Ring, I can feel the flow of my blood in my body.
I can't describe how much excitement I got when I first saw this. When I was 11-12 after I watched that legendary LOTR movie, I went to a small bookshop near my home and found the Chinese version of The Hobbits. Funny thing is that book was on sale and quite cheap, at that time there were many fanfiction books and I didn't expect that "The Hobbit" was a true original story. But as it's cheap so I can afford it by skip some after school snacks. After I finished that book, I thought it's crazy good, the adventure and battle are so well told that made me wish if any company could make a movie based on this "fanfiction book".
10 years later, when I was finishing my last year in university, this happened. I watched it of course, and I was so excited and proud because surprisingly I can still remember many plots and some of the scenes are very similar as I imagined in my 13 year old head. I was in tears several times.
I just want to say thank you to J.R.R Tolkien, to all the people who made these movies, and to that bookshop owner. This is one of a kind life experience, and I am really lucky experienced all these.
Thank all of you again, and wish you all a happy Hobbit life in peace.

As a Two Steps fan, and a Tolkien geek, I am loving this, the timing on the editing is great. Sometimes you've just gotta suspend disbelief and be that kid in the cinema again. Takes me back to kids learning elvish at high school and bugging the music teacher to do Elbereth Gilthoniel

I watch this over and over. I love when the Elves jump over the dwarves. I bought this song as it is so beautiful and I listen to it while I workout.
That was my favorite part, too! It's when they all realized their scruples were petty compared to the REAL threat. Cooperation never looked so COOL!

I loved it when they suddenly worked together to defeat their true enemy. They just fought side by side as if nothing was.
Oh and of course the Eagles they are the best.

I just love how the elf come to aid dwarf army's when they thought they would fight the enemy alone since they both fight each other before, they are as fearless as dwarf but also very tidy in their action, in the battle of Helms Deep too, it just very epic how they suddenly come out from behind in line

yeah, I played it many times.... that gives the feeling with that (vacuum or air pocket) background sound.
Yea, first the dwarves set that line with there shields and spears, which is badass already, and then the elves leaping over them just full send. So well done. Bravo
When you think about it, the Dwarves only had a very thin line of a couple of troops and the orcs charge would've penetrated it but because the elves sacrificed some of their men to jump over and expertly negate the momentum it allowed the Dwarves to hold the line and even initiate a counter charge which was so damn epic seeing Dwarves charge through the Orcs like that.

I think i saw 4 or 5 times LOTR and every time when im watching im having the same feeling as i watching for the first time . Is one of the greatest Trilogy i ever watched until now and it will be.

Elves and dwarves were bounded for thousands of years in the history of middle earth, and just when the doors of Moria were closed for the outside, because the advance of the orcs bands in the misty mountains the friendship among these races fell down. Thorin oakenshield made his ancestors very proud. Never let the king and the warrior inside you die, however they tell you, whomever tries, you had inside you, my brother.
If middle earth was united as one alliance from different kingdoms. The battles between orcs should have been different and ended quickly. I mean all of their strategies, positions, techniques, weapons, tactics, abilities and all types of war are truly a legendary sight! It is amazing!
The Elves on the old age are quite badass in the book. They won a lot of wars.

Fantastic scene, one of the best ever....How ever, the battle between the elves and dwarves was in full flow, when the orcs entered battle field....the elves and dwarves had both suffered huge losses, yet there were no bodies of man or beast any where to be seen!

There is one accurate armored fight in the TV series - Longest Day in chang’an. After so many hits in a group fight, only one guy died a slow death afterward 💀 from internal blooding caused by a mace. All the swords and spears did not do shit.

Это настолько эпично , что у меня слёзы не произвольно начали лить......когда эльфы выпрыгнули из за спин гномов ...сражаясь бок о бок , ВМЕСТЕ ! ПЛЕЧОМ К ПЛЕЧУ !
Это было на столько тупо, полный фейспалм - ибо в угоду эпичности полностью похерили логику.
Гномы постоили стену щитов с фалангой, о которую должны были разбиться орды орков и что сделали эльфы - вместо того, чтобы стрелять из-за спин гномов, а мечников поставить для прикрытия флангов фаланги и за ней для уничтожения случайно прорвавшихся....эльфы просто...кинулись перед копьями гномов, сделав их построение абсолютно бессмысленным.
Слава богу, что в финальной версии не было этой тупости с уничтожением баллистами стрел...как сама идея идиотская, так и предположение, что скорость стрельбы из лука и из баллисты может быть одинаковой.
Так что в театральной версии такий больших фейспалма - второй - это то, что гномы Торина перед выходом из крепости...сняли с себя доспехи...снять с себя доспехи перед выходом на бой, Карл! И этом при том, что в книге Толкиена упор как раз на том, что гномы Торина одели на себя самые лучшие доспехи, которые были в горе - и именно это позволило им стать непробиваемым тараном! Только доспехи! Ибо ничем других они по сути от других гномских воинов не отличались.

even with all its weaknesses, the hobbit trilogy was truly a worthy successor to the amazing LOTR imo. I'm happy that I went through a 20h marathon once watching them all in chronological order. this battle was epic!
