The gold rims came with the super shot when I had it.
I always wondered what those things were in the back.
Here I am at 47 and finally might pull the trigger on this thing lol. Great video 👍 my first Tamiya was the Hornet and I haven't lost interest in this great hobby since then.
I'm in my early 40's Steve and all I can say is that the older you get, the more you'll love and appreciate these buggies. Pull the trigger, enjoy the Hotshot and all the great experiences it will bring! 🤙

I have the original 1985 issue Hotshot. It came with white rims. The Supershot came with the gold rims.

Yup. My OG 85 HS had white wheels too.
I always wanted one really bad. To me this was a 4x4 Fox which I had. I might have to look into getting a rere.🤘🤘🤘

The monoshock is what does it for me too. It's so unique, so different and so so super cool. A must have in any collection. Just ordered mine from Amain Hobbies yesterday... FINALLY!, cant wait for it to arrive.

You should upgrade to the MIP ball diffs. I love the hotshot thanks for sharing
I thought about it, but they are quite pricey. I installed the MIP diff in my Monster Beetle and it really brought that truck to life. 👊
I would like to make an observation on your video. I had an original Hotshot in the UK in 85, it had white wheels. It was the super Hotshot or the Hotshot 2 that came with mostly gold wheels, at least in the UK.
I've seen it sold both ways, didn't know they were white wheels in the UK. Thanks for sharing. 👊

How similar is the Hot Shot to the Boomerang? oh can you do a video on your Boomerang. I was going to ask if you thought a brushless system would be good for my Optima, but you already answered that. Stay tubular Fil.
There are quite a few similarities between the HotShot and Boomerang, primarily the driveline, chassis and front end. I'll put the Boomer in the next episode of TBT! Stay excellent my friend! 🤙

Finally found myself a HotShot re release to build. Local shop got 2 in stock last week, both are gone now. One other shop in west end has them but wants more for them then I'm willing to pay. Just need to get bearings for it then begin my build. Love the red look but think I'm going with my signature metallic green look & custom MCI racing decals.
I have a spare 10T brushless motor (speed pasions) what ESC you using on yours? Wondering if the stock Tamiya will be up to the task. 🤔
Yeah baby, you're gonna love the Hotshot! Still one of my favorites to drive and the design always puts a smile on my face.
I like the custom decal idea! Get MCI to change the decal colors to accent your green paint, it'll be wicked!
I've heard of guys running 12T brushless motors on the TBLE-02S and it's held up, but I've never done it myself. I'm running a Leopard RC esc in mine and I love it!
I've had them custom make colours for a few of my cars now & they look great. Green & gold combo looks good, need the gold super shot wheels. Once my hard body for super clod is painted, I have custom decals made up for it already using the black special edition design.
G’day mate, great channel, just purchased a re release hotshot and was wondering is yours handling the 10.5 turn ok. I’m thinking of a 13.5 for mine but was concerned it might be too much for the drive line. Regards Craig
Hey Craig thanks for joining! And to answer your question, the Hotshot has handled the 10T brushless without issue! I run on sand mostly, which is quite forgiving which I'm sure helps.
I like to know what it's top speed is with the brushless motor.
I'd estimate it's running 50 - 60 km/h with this motor. It's fast!
The hot shot is a super cool kit I recently got one from the RC Elf. If your not 100% a box art fan you should stop by and check out what I did with mine you might like it then again you might not. Sorry to bomb your channel.
