tbh, computer prices today are pretty reasonable compared to what they used to be. For people in their 30s and 40s and above, we remember when a typical laptop in the 90s cost about 3k in 90s dollars. That’s almost 6k today. You get a lot of bang for your buck today compared to those 90s machines too, and they’ll last a lot longer. Just thought I’d give a little perspective on the pricing. People should look back through Apple’s pricing in the early 2000s, everything used to be way more expensive, especially when you take inflation into account. I remember buying an iMac in 2006, one of the first intel macs, for 1299, the same price as the new m1 iMac. But inflation means that 1299 today is a lot cheaper than 1299 in 2006. By not raising prices, apple has effectively lowered their prices.

it sounds a bit strange. no matter what RAM's GB is, as long as it is working, that shouldn't block you from booting up. does the expert say your RAM is broken or what?
Hi, A bit late lol Normally if it’s the ram you will hear 2 “bips” sound at startup, if it doesn’t boot up and there is no light flashing, it could just be the cable that connect your hard drive to the Logic board, I know it happened a lot on some models between 2008 and 2011. @@drbass9677 the 2012 model with a non glossy mat display actually has a much higher resolution than the standard glossy models, so it’s very suitable for adobe programs. The reason why I don’t recommend the 2012 retina models is because a chip in them is very prone to fail, which will cause the MacBook’s GPU to stop working. Here’s the explanation: “The chip responsible for creating GPU Vcore in this machine is called U8900. This chip sends out spikes of 12V into a coil, which averages out to around 0.9V on VCORE. However, the solder joints on U8900 are very suceptible to cracking over time, causing GPU VCORE to drop to 0.6V or lower. This causes the machine to randomly shut down or black screen.” The unibody non-retina 2012 model doesn’t have this issue.

Hi I bought this Harddrive and when I turn on the Late 2008 Aluminum and press Command R all I get is a folder with a question mark in it. REALLY REALLY need help trouble shooting so I can get an operating system going. You are sure this kind of Harddrive (WD SATA SSD) is compatible with LATE 2008 13" ALUMINUM? @@GoAnimateFan-fd8gx You have to create a bootable drive with El Capitan. Hit option key when booting up, select the drive and upload new operating system.

Do u need to backup data before doing all this?
is it real?... the mbp 2008 is just maxed out at 4gb of ram, 128gb of ssd (or can it has ssd and hdd at the same time?.. pls tell me) isn't it??...
and also the proc is just core duo :((
On some models you can remove the optical drive and get adapter to place ssd
Apple states MBP 2008 can only use 4GB, however, if you follow this website the max is actually 8GB.

I did everything right bought the parts but my MacBook isn’t booting up, it has the file folder symbol can anyone help me?
Hi! I have the same mac as yours. I have been dealing of this problem recently, My mac suddenly didn't boot up and the breathing light isn't on (usually, it goes on when I'm turning it on). I have let it checked on experts and they said it's on the memory. If I changed the memory, will it still run? Also, there still power from charger and battery which means the logic board is still good.
I hope you can help me with this.
TIA!
it sounds a bit strange. no matter what RAM's GB is, as long as it is working, that shouldn't block you from booting up. does the expert say your RAM is broken or what?
If it doesn't boot on it could be a lot issues... Try checking if it holds a charge first
Hi,
A bit late lol
Normally if it’s the ram you will hear 2 “bips” sound at startup, if it doesn’t boot up and there is no light flashing, it could just be the cable that connect your hard drive to the Logic board, I know it happened a lot on some models between 2008 and 2011. You could try this solution, I don’t have it in hands unfortunately tho so I can’t be 100% sure about that.
no update with 16Gb ram? (8X2)
still use 2008 macbook with original battery (16xx cycle count) :D
Can you use this on the 2008 MacBook pro with the battery pack in the back of it the square battery pack
Yes u can!
i have the same macbook and my fan turns to much and make a lot of noise. and how did you fine all application compatible for mac os el capitain ?
There might be a lot of dust accumulated in your fans. Try cleaning that. Also change the thermal paste on CPU. This will be in a later video!
Hi, Can I use this laptop for edition apps like Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere?
no, it will run really slow. I recommend getting a 15 inch mid 2012 macbook unibody (**not** the retina model!) which has a quad core i7 processor so it will be perfect for these tasks. But the late 2008 MacBook is too weak and I don't recommend it for Photoshop, Illustrator, and definitely not Premiere at all.
@@GoAnimateFan-fd8gx I have a MacBook Pro late 2008 15 inch, Can you please tell me if this model is able to make renders? @@getmoreplay8488 hello, I have installed a really old version of Adobe Premiere and it works faster, and exporting a video can take up to an hour. But unfortunately I’m not familiar with the software you mentioned, but maybe downloading an older version like I did will make it faster?
@@GoAnimateFan-fd8gx the retina model would be much better as the non retina screens are really bad quality especially for adobe apps
This causes the machine to randomly shut down or black screen.”
The unibody non-retina 2012 model doesn’t have this issue.

But i dont geting youtube and nothing
Pls give me a reply what to do
How can i download Ms office 2016? In MacBook 2008
Would you be able to use it for editing and printing
yes
You would have to install Catalina or Mojave to get the newest version of iMovie. It’s not the best for editing but it’s definitely possible
I would not suggest it as the CPU is not upgradable. Running any sort of video rendering on an Intel Core 2 Duo would not be very productive
Can u run zoom on the update
Can this laptop be upgraded to 16GB?
Just did the same to mine, while it certainly aint no 2020 and the screen sucks as does the speakers and Bluetooth is not compatible enough with newer Logitech peripherals. It does almost what i need it to do as a secondary mac device for work.
Bad part is mines is stuck on lion, how do you update that?

why don't you try the dosdude Catalina installer?

I bought an SSD but it does not get detected in the MacBook at all, whether I boot into my bootable OS X installation USB, or into a live linux distro, the MacBook just doesn't recognize the SSD. The SSD does work in my newer Windows laptop from 2014, but not in the MacBook. I've also put the SSD into my old 2007 Windows laptop and it also doesn't get detected in there.
So apparently modern SSDs do not work in old computers? I do not want to return the SSD, so does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks.
You'll have to format the SSD in Disk Utility before installing a Mac OS.
max upgrade ram really can 8gb? what MHZ?
What's your mac os version? El Capitan or with Catalina patched?
This was El Capitan, the latest MacOS a MacBook 2008 could use
@@cbeducation2716 OpenCore Legacy Patcher is a magician, you can run Sonoma on a old 2008 Macbook Pro. Of course the hardware might suffer, but Catalina, Ventura, etc is doable!

I have late 2008 macbook, I replaced ram with 8gb corsair for mac but it can’t boot, just 3 strange beep, what should i do?
i'm learning just like you, but i recently heard that these beeps may be because the new memory cards are not entirely in place. try pushing the memory cards in to make sure they're snug and as deep as they go.

Quite foolish video without explanation. Actually I don't believe that he could upgrade RAM up to 16Gb. Recently I found info from mac gurus that after last firmware upgrade and OS upgrade up to Yozemite of macbook pro 5.1, the RAM limit goes up from 4Gb to 8Gb.

New thermal paste.
Yes old macs are actually better than new in upgradability (ram, SSD etc) and repairability. But in terms of OS, these macs are running ancient version of macOS. Old macs are much better on windows 10/11 or Linux distro which is fully supported even today on these machines. yes I know about OCLP, but for these old macs, they are not worth the trouble.

How do I upgrade from OS X Mavericks?
You want a 1499$ cheaper? Upgrade your old one for a few bucks it will be the same as the 2020 model. Just ignore the fact that it still will be slow as hell because of the CPU, but the CPU was never important right?
You’re ignoring the facts that he’s updating something he knows is slow 2008 to make it faster but with limitations (RAM, SSD-HD) upgrades & by comparing a new rMBP CPU at the beginning which he said he can’t change! Besides the main reason is as a College student he’s on a limited budget so he knows how to live with in his means even appreciating a “slower” (compared to a 2020) laptop. Humble yourself or buy him that “FASTER” more expensive rMBP!
You can’t make 2008 MacBook as good as 2020 MacBook .You can’t replace the cpu and gpu
i guess as long as you are light-using it. the 2008 one is still decent with 8gb and SSD. most people just care how fast it boots up, and open APPs, that is all it s about.
