It's been a while since you sought out the mysterious Delilah Black at her home, and she warned you not to search for her again. But if you meet her by chance, she'll consider making you hers, and you've scarcely been able to think of anything else. Still, when you came to this rundown theater, you were hardly expecting her to be here...

Nightshade's notes: Is Delilah Black a good person, or is she a monster? I may not be wise enough to answer that, but there's one thing I do notice. Many abusers will say that their actions are not their fault, that they were responding to their emotions. That they acted a certain way because of how others made them feel. But Delilah Black, despite being cursed and having an actual reason for all her emotions and desires being heightened to the point of losing control -- Delilah never once tries to excuse what she's done. She believes that it is her own responsibility not to hurt anyone, and no one else's. She won't foist the blame for her actions onto anyone else, and she is actively working to hold herself to the standard she set. She refuses to hurt anyone else, and the responsibility for that is on her own shoulders.
Idk. It's fantasy fiction, a world with magical influences, and it's hard to equate something like that to real life, I know. And I don't know at what point a person deserves forgiveness. I don't know if there's a right answer to that question. But I think her actions now, the efforts she makes to be the person she wants to be -- that part, I appreciate. No one can change the past, but Delilah is holding herself accountable for her present and her future.
The play, you may have noticed, is The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde. Who is, of course, the author of The Picture of Dorian Gray, on which this series is based. I did my best to don a (pseudo-) accent and change the pitch of my voice (but not so much that it stops sounding natural). The script only called for music or something in the background, but once the idea of doing an actual Wild play came into my head, I couldn't let it go -- even though it meant taking longer to get the audio done. Thank you for your patience! @vesselVA (aka simp_trash, formerly!) was kind enough to agree to lend his voice for the background scene, despite the fact that 90% of it was muffled. Delilah sorta reminds me of Superman/a vampire from twilight in the way of when vampires are newborns they are super strong and can’t control themselves and with Superman’s whole world made of cardboard thing. It seems Delilah has had her world made of cardboard moment but is still trying to isolate herself and hold back
Why does this feel like something out of the picture of Dorian grey it’s got a fun creepy twist and turn to the story

I thought as much although I’m more of a Richard adams reader I do love the story of Dorian gray just based on the darker side to the story

I think this is officially my favorite series of yours. I love stories like this that have love and danger practically dancing together and at any moment everything could go wrong. Always toe the line of danger

Every human being in the world wishes there existed a "rewind" button in their lives that would allow them to change things. Poor Delilah lives her entire life with that desire, no differently than Londo Molari from Babylon 5 or Kratos from the 2005 origonal "God of War" for the old PS2. Poor Delilah suffers the same fate as both of them. Forever living with decisions that cannot be reversed.

Despite my great infatuation with and longing for her, I would now be a little terrified. Even though I could forgive those murders due to how different she is now, that one of her lover is potentially an exception. While it is entirely possible that I would stop seeking her presence out of fear, I may also have acted similarly to the listener.

Yeah, it's scary. Running away is probably the smart move here, and I don't think Delilah would blame you one bit. Of course, the story we're telling here is one of acceptance, so the audio itself doesn't go that way - but I think the fear should still be real. She's a dangerous person, and I don't want to gloss over that, or the internal conflict the listener must be feeling. Reading your comment makes me think that I'm probably succeeding, so thank you for sharing your thoughts!

Also, please don't say stuff like "probably succeeding" about this. You don't need or deserve the self-doubt. I can absolutely relate to why, but you simply _are_ succeeding. How else would you explain justifying a third instalment beyond mere self-expression and unchained creativity? 😉💜

No matter how bad something someone has done, be it murder or even the most gory satanic ritual, everyone deserves forgiveness. It just takes the right people to truly give it, but too few of that nature exist.
What do beauty and monsters have in common? Both are in the eye of the beholder and based on, and biased by, judgement of an emotional nature including a collateral element. People name those who have done wrong many things: Evil, Demon, Monster, Abomination, spawn of Satan himself. What if they're not evil? What if they're just misunderstood because of everyone viewing and judging everything through an emotional filter?
Delilah confessed her sins and I forgive her. I never jump to judgemental conclusions, that's the precursor for many things. Injustice, racism etc. I always analyse the situation and circumstances before declaring my final verdict. Delilah deserves a second chance at happiness, and now it's within her grasp.
How is it possible that you make a video based on my favorite book in which they go to see my favorite play?
Hahaha I'm glad I could provide! When I saw that part three took place at a play, I couldn't help imagining it at an Oscar Wilde play... and then I just had to make it happen, even though it meant taking longer. It was super fun to play Gwendolyn, and vesselVA (simp_trash_scripts) did AMAZING as Jack (even though we can't hear most of it)! I do have plans to release just the scene from the play that we recorded together as a sort of behind-the-scenes glimpse, so if it's your favorite play, stay tuned for that!

Either I’m not cultured enough to get this but I’m confused so the painting is the heart of her immortality so why did she kill her past lover just for seeing it and the other people?
As I understand it, her emotions, desires, etc, are all heightened since becoming immortal. So when she was new to all of that, she didn't have a good grasp of her anger. The painting looked exactly like her when it was created, but it doesn't anymore. Every change that should show in her appearance shows on the painting instead. All the things she doesn't want people to see are there in plain sight. So when her former lover saw the painting, Delilah felt extremely vulnerable, her emotions overwhelmed her, and she lost control of her anger and accidentally killed her. She hasn't gone into detail about the circumstances of the others' deaths, but I assume it was something similar. She couldn't control her emotions and killed each of them in the heat of the moment.

Her lover saw the real her and she freaked out,thank you for explaining nightshade this is why your the best looking out for little/confused guy.😊
You should definitely read Dorian Gray or watch the 2009 movie version of it. It’s a great story and I love that she based this story on it.

I have to admit I've never seen the film! But I do love the book! I personally think Dorian Gray's plight is a little different than our Delilah's, because I think our Delilah has a stronger sense of morality, but it's quite a fascinating story!
