I've always loved that year of mustang. I have wondered why more weren't done this way. They were light, and in my opinion, had great body lines. I dig it brother. Keep go'in fast!
Love that car. It'd be better, if it was a coupe and a manual. But amazing regardless. I had a 78 coupe and it was my dream to do this too it. Obviously I didn't get it done. So nice to get an idea of what It'd have been like. Thanks for doing it
When I first did it the packaging was going to be tough plus the car is supercharged now and getting a drivable clutch that can handle 800+ is very challenging.
Thank you! This was the first time I’ve actually tried to get a good light, with this car it’s pretty easy. Of the 7 passes I made, I red lit once with a -.016, my best was a .014 and my worst was a .054.
Love the mustang II, that was my first car I ever had back in 1985. I love the coyote swaps, but my small block 331in an 85 Capri with a stick runs 11.00 @ 125 all day long, no nitrous. Steet car driven to the track. Nice work and you're having fun! That's what it's all about.
Man that thing just flat out hauls ass, and you will be able to squeeze more out of it the more you tinker with it the faster it's going to get. I wish I could go up there one weekend and go racing or terrorize the streets, with our cars. That would be fun as hell. I may have to try and make it happen sometime 😁
I plan on doing a single turbo over the winter maybe, but will probably do a converter with the NA set up first. With a converter and good tune, it should go very bottom 11’s and maybe even a 10! Where are you from? That would be a lot of fun!
@@dugganracecraft im from Alabama, yeah man I know that we would have a blast. Are you running a stock converter now if so that would help you out a good bit and if you do a turbski on top of that you would be stupid fast but yeah I believe that u will be able to get a 10 out of it N/A like you say with a converter and 9s or high 8s with a turbski maybe
@@79beans347 yeah it’s stock truck converter which is the worst one I could possibly run lol the only thing saving me right now is the fact that I have a 4.11 gear
@@dugganracecraftYeah that kinda sucks but a new converter will help it alot . But for what it is that thing is super quick and there's not much that is going to hang with it now , that thing ain't nothing but Business
Yeah it’s pretty good for what it is, essentially being a Gen 2 truck drivetrain with a Mustang Cams and a boss manifold. The nice thing is that with this set up this is the slowest it could possibly be lol I’m not gonna lie, when I was building it there was always a thought in the back of my head that was like “what if I go through all this work and it’s slow?” I guess we’ll never know 😊
So I weighed it before I put the hood on and without me in it, it weighed 2,704! So definitely a light car lol I’ve added to it since, with the rollbar and the hood and some other stuff. When it’s “done” with the interior back in and everything it’ll probably be 2800-2850.
No thank you, my Father use to race cars for a living, his last car was a late 60s corvette funny car, it had a 426 hemi pushing 1500 horsepower, I don't remember how I was maybe 2 or 3 years old, now I'm 51 and nothing to show for it, just awesome memories, thank you again
Awesome build man. Just bought a trans dipstick like that for my swap. Glad I found your video cause I was dreading putting fluid in it. I just got it in and was wondering if it was kinda difficult for you to get the rubber piece in the trans. My trans is in the car currently so that’s making it tough but was wondering how it was for you. Thanks.
Just stumbled across your channel. Nice work! Would love to see/hear about what all you had to do for the swap! I'm an active member on the Stangnet forums and I know the few regulars we have would love to see/hear about it all too. I'm not in any of the Facebook groups anymore though, there were just too many s*** posters so I left. Would love to have you over there if you're interested though!
Lol it’s connected, but it’s electric and the engine makes so much oil pressure that it blew out the pressure sender. I’ll have to go back to a mechanical gauge unfortunately
@@dugganracecraft 9 second car or not I love your car! A shot of laughing gas will also get you to the end of the track before you could shake a stick twice! Either way your car is very nice!
Thank you! I really do appreciate it! I’m not sure what it’s going to be yet, but as of now it’s definitely going to be a stick in the spring, fingers crossed that I get my hands on a blower but it remains to be seen! But at any rate; thank you for subscribing!
Great content as always!! Your cobra seems so well planted, just floor it and hang on!!
Thanks Mason, I appreciate you 😉
I love Mustang IIs. You showed me why.
Glad I could be of some assistance ☺️

I totally agree, the way these cars are shaped is fantastic! With the right set of wheels, they look even better. But thank you rick!
bad ass. man I love this car
You and me both!
Awesome swap. Love the car. I still run a 302 SBF(332") at 530hp in my 77 Mustang II coupe, it goes pretty good.

Your hard work shows. Looks like a fun day at the track!
Thanks, Wade! I appreciate it.
Looks like a very fun ride. Nice trans dipstick. I hate having to get burned every time to check the fluid on my 2007 ST 4.6. ; )
Honesty, the factory dipstick is so stupid. It’s just anti-consumer BS.
Had your channel randomly pop up on my feed, love the old Mustang II’s. Currently building a blown Dart block 363 78 Mach 1, Subscribed!
Thanks for the sub! That should be a blast!
Holy shit man! That's bloody impressive! Looks like you were cutting some damn good lights. What were your RT's like?

I definitely can't blame you for that, I still love the small blocks and own 1 but the Coyote on boost is out of this world!

Right? It’s crazy what these engines are capable of! I’ve got a video coming this weekend about the new blower set up! It’s an absolute riot now!

@@dugganracecraft that's extremely light, Im hoping to get mine down in the 2500-2600 lb range!
@@rustybritches6747 it can definitely be done! I was leaning on the side of being too heavy for a lot of the stuff I had made for my car.
@Duggan Racecraft that's exactly why my 74 Mach1 with 300hp 302 was smoking the Chevelles and Firebirds back in the early 80s.
How much did the build cost you? You should do a price breakdown
Nevermind, I seen on your channel that you did one. Thanks
Ah you beat me to it! Lol
That was a lot of fun to watch! Looks like a good time.
A two-step would help drop your ET and leaving at a consistent RPM would help your testing.
A wire-in transbrake and a 2-step are coming as soon as I get a new torque converter!
@@dugganracecraft I'd get one compatible with a bump box if I were you. That's one thing I wish mine had.
Nice into Sean;)

Time for a turbo that will drop you a second or more in the quarter mile 👍
With my math, a turbo should put it well into the 9’s. But I’ve got some things coming this winter. 😉

It's truly a shame what you have to do to get A V8 To run quick as a Turbo 4
You mean bolting in a truck drivetrain with a boss into my car?
