this series i often connected as the 3 main lessons of kung fu: heart, mind, soul.
respect/heart - 1st movie, learning to respect po as a warrior and each person's unique journey; harmony/mind - 2nd movie, the obvious yin and yang parallel as well as accepting yourself to find peace; fairness/soul - transcending the division of right and wrong, offering a chance to even those who have done wrong to be always aligned in your morals
i know each person can interpret the lessons of kung fu differently, but i liked the trilogy this way
Ngl, I'm worried about the 4th movie. As much as I love these 3, it's a complete trilogy where the lose ends are tied up, and like you said, they're already treading water a little with the antagonist and the central theme. Fingers crossed though!
Exactly I know they’re “passing the torch” so to speak so that might be a way of continuing the story without treading water.

It's weird that Shifu tells Po what his deal is and what he has to do in every other movie, when he didn't want anything to do with him in the first one and kind of had to teach him under duress once the threat of Tai Lung became known.
Guy didn't even know what the Dragon Warrior was supposed to be like in movie 1, but every one after that is like -
2: "The Dragon Warrior must learn inner peace."
3: "The Dragon Warrior must know who he is inside."
And now 4 is like "Okay, time to stop being The Dragon Warrior now. I can just make that decision," apparently.

Po's dads are the only two I ship in the 2 whole series. It seems so right to me (seriously, if it had been Pos long lost mom with the same personality Hollywood would have said yes, of course, then made it happen) so I was sad to realize it wasnt a common idea. I get the appeal of the others but this feels like it needs to be canon. Or at least gaycoded/heavily implied.

I really loved this movie! I always wondered why ‘DRAGON’ warrior? Last two never mentioned anything draogney… this 3rd movie gave me my answer. I guess Po still wondering ‘Who He Was’, maybe because there are many aspects about himself that he still couldn’t understand completely, like Chi and stuff.. I’ve heard that Chi is kind of related to your inner self and Po understanding Chi led to finding himself truly, thus answering his question of Who He Is.. That’s completely my POV, I maybe fully wrong..

5:35 Am I the only one that thinks it's a little screwed up that Po is playing with an action figure of a guy he banished to the shadow realm?
Also Tai Lung was indeed sent to the spirit realm and not simply killed. You can even see that Kai had his chi amulet. However he didn't use Tai Lung. There could be a few reasons for that. Perhaps he needed some on hand to remain in the mortal realm with Tai Lung and Oogway being the greatest sources of chi. Or Tai Lung and Oogway were too strong for Kai to easily control.

This was supposed to be the end to the series. The trailers for 4 make it look like a BAD repeat of 3. The original cast isn't even involved. That says a lot, imo. I could be predisposed to like 3 because it came out a few weeks after my dad passed, and it was nice watching Po's dad's be what I'd wished my dad had been like. It was kind of healing. I'm probably biased
We ended up enjoying the 4th and so sorry about your dad. For the same reason I don’t hate Minions 2
