This is exactly what it is. Guys are on a football field, bumping bodies/heads and tackling each other into the ground, getting under the skin of their opponent. As someone who played juniors footy, I've copped and heard some foul things but its water off a ducks back haha.

I don’t understand the outcry. He said something wrong, immediately acknowledged his mistake. Honestly think this could be a great thing if handled well. Imagine the ability to make him a face for the education of players and public on these sensitivities.

Ridiculous. The facts of the situation are different. Tex did not self-report it. Crouch didn't call him out. A staffer reported it and there was an initial period of denial. There was no immediate accountability and a belated apology.

So a player was called what he is. What was the word? How do they identify if you can’t use words to describe them.
The word used DOES NOT have a place in 2024. Its meaning is derogatory, it says that you’re gay and there’s something very wrong with that. Sure it was used a bit back in the 80s, but so was the N word in America and look how that’s treated there today. Words have meanings. If I walked up to you and got in your face and aggressively verbally attacked your family, would you then just say ‘Yeah, I don’t mind mate, that’s just words’? No, you wouldn’t, it’d be on for young and old. If you were in a corporate office and said what Jeremy said then you’d be fired in an instant. It might be the footy field, but it’s still a workplace and it’s now 2024, discriminatory comments whether racist, sexist or homophobic have no place in today’s society.

An interesting point is the wording, the word gay has been stolen as it means happy yet now it means a homosexual man. A more accurate definition would be sodomite yet it is seldom used. If people are so concerned about words hurting their feelings we are in a crazy world.

The AFL didn’t punish Clarkson anywhere near severely enough, and while Finlayson has shown remorse the league needs to make an example of him. In my opinion, he should not be allowed to play again this year.
