So if it was called touch by umpires could have Cottrell gotten of a handball to Owies who was running by to have a shot at goal? I would be asking how did Cottrell get to be in front? As a Carlton supporter I look at this game as a game where we were wasteful in front of goals, sloppy in general play but still were able to fight to the end and win. There was a Fremantle out of bounds on the full in the Carlton forward pocket missed by umpires earlier in the match. Umpiring was frustrating all match not just in last few minutes.
we used to be in freo's position leading all game, leaving the door open by a small margin then silly undisclipined errors toward the end and throwing the game, cant blame adjudicating.
my preseason prediction was a Carlton vs freo GF, this only confirmed my preseason prediction

Freo had about 4 or 5 dodgey ones in the game right in front of goal. Carlton kept coming while Freo was trying to play time out and hold opn to the lead. Thats what cost them in the end, that and Carlton missing some easy shots at goal.

Great game but you have to ask if one umpire said touched and the other didnt ( because he didnt see it) surely the sighted umpire should have stood up for the correct call. A 30 second chat, ball up, play on and fair outcome for both teams.
Not a Carlton fan but it’s hard for the umpires to see that and call it touched it would be too controversial I agree with them letting it go Fremantle never should’ve allowed that mark BT is just a biased Collingwood supporter who hates Carlton

The Phenomenal Carlton Played, Contested Exciting Voss Footy. Carlton Soundly defeated Not only Freemantle today but also the Boring and stoppage footy the umpires where trying to negotiate. Long mire can go and look back at this and ask himself why he told his team to play preventative football against Carlton. Carlton 55% inside 50 vs Fremantles 45% ... Carlton the 4th quarter proved that patience is vital. and that playing boring footy looses to Who Dares Wins Footy! GO THE BLUES!

Carlton had more Numbers on the ball as well so I'd argue they played more football and more handball, as for Gifts free-mantle had heaps but Carlton got gifted the Trojan horse so both teams had freebies was a even clash. I'd personally blame long mire for being a boring guy. his expression before he knew what the umpire was gonna do on stoppage decisions was enough to tell he wanted to play boring Slow and Safe footy, panel is gonna have a field day with him during the weekend

Longmire obviously did some homework with the kangaroos game and kept the ball in contest for 3.5 of the game, Voss just outsmarted him with better end game sense. some would argue that the kick that **Cotteral marked**, was touched by nat fyfe befor it could have even been touched by Aish which **It looks to me that Aish did not touch it as there was not enough effort if it did touch for the touch to alter the balls trajectory and Cotteral to mark it** , however **i watched that mark at 0.25 speed on you tube** **and its questionable if before that play Fyfe actually got a touch first on it at all or if Fyfes finger missed on the side, the referee missed the play arguments if the ball was touched before the kick or after the kick does not matter to much intrinsics, Cottarel got the mark** . but to put the history into perspective, That play about it being touched or not would not have mattered in 1995 when Carlton won there last premiership with a very similar team build . Freo id argue had the better share of Sideline and Referee sympathy this game, this play was defiantly hard to observe and the panel, and the referee certainly did not see it, and the Freemantle players id argue aside from arguing against the mark failed to even mention that Nat fyfe could have touched it or was the one that touched it But I was not on the pitch to hear it what they said. Earlier in the game Patrick contested the ball and it was kicked on the full by freo but the ref "Threw it up on the boundary" for play" same kind of situation" just not at the end of the game. You Will see Longmire get Freemantle play different footy in other games this season for a higher score on the board and you will see that they lost because of How Longmire decided he wanted to play slow and keep contention on our full forwards, while we tried to scramble the ball desperately in the final quarter. That desperate footy is whats gonna separate the top #4 from the top #8 Its just how it is @80 points Or 180+ 1 way. Freo Still did good at the start of the season , See how they go!
