Ortho GroundClear is the best weed killer in 2024. It kills everything for a year! A lesser known knight in shining armor is this Ortho Ground Clear. Likely you’ve sprayed your driveway, cracks and fencerows with round-up and have to re-spray several times each season. No-one likes to use herbicides that frequently. With Ortho Ground Clear, you mix it, spray it and you’re done with it for the rest of the year. I’ve used this product for 7 years on my house and rentals and it’s a must have in my herbicide arsenal. Anywhere you don’t want anything to grow - Ortho Ground Clear is your weapon of choice every time.

Gracias, m gonna try it.
De nada... yeah, give it a try! 👍🏼
I just purchased the ready to spray jug of ground clear for poison ivy. I'm subscribed now to see your results. Please keep us updated.
Okay I will. I just filmed the 5 week update video part the other day
@HandymanHertz okay boom. I just got done spraying over here maybe an hour ago. I didn't go all scorched earth but I had a really bad poison ivy patch in my yard coming through the fence from my neighbor. Let's hope it's works. I still have half a bottle left lol.
@mrjustjerz 👍🏼
Will the spray mixture ( which includes the Blue Lazer) leave a stain on Cement and/or Landscape rocks or house foundations?
Nope, it will dissipate after a couple weeks. I have a part two to this video where you can see that the blue disappears completely.
Is there any issue with leakage and the Ortho GroundClear? I have a rock area I'm exploring weed prevention options for and I just wouldn't want to inadvertently poison any neighboring shrubs. Great vid - thanks!
Hmmm great question. I can't tell you for sure, but I have sprayed this around shrubs and it's never migrated and killed them. In fact, at the end of the video, I spray it next to my hostas and it's still thriving. I have a 6 week review video I'll explain this on coming in the next week or two.
I will tell you that Ground Clear will wash into the surrounding area, especially if it’s not flat. I sprayed for weeds in areas where I have mulch and rocks, and because of the grade, the Ground Clear washed into my grass and has killed it. Unfortunately I’ll have to wait until next year to plant new seed. I didn’t expect that it would wash that much once dry, so don’t spray too heavily, or play it safe and use Roundup instead of Ground Clear in areas that you are worried about runoff.
@dr.jimholtz interesting, this is good to know. Thanks for sharing.
I like the torch method. Any tips?
Yes, Don't use 140,000 btu burner with a 1 pound canister... it doesn't last long. They make weed burning torch kits. Fire only killers the weeds present. Others will germinate and grow still
@@HandymanHertzI guess it would leave scorch marks on the pavers? That would be okay as long as they don't crack.
You put a fire gun thing in the middle of your video and I forgot the rest of the video 😂
I figured the organic people needed a little break by then 😂
Will this kill my plants if some of the spray gets on them? Need something I can use around my flowers and bushes.
Yes, this will kill any plant if it gets on them. I do not know of any spray that doesn't kill flowers.
I get what Ground clear is for. But what about the others concentrates you showed?
2,4-D: kills broadleaf weeds but does not kill grass.
Roundup/grass and weed killer: kills all grass and broadleaf weeds, but there's no residual or carryover herbicide left in the ground. It will kill everything, but weeds can germinate and grow in that ground.
So if i cut weeds in dirt can i spray this over the cut weeds and will it keep the weeds dead??
Yes, that is correct. I have a two month video review coming out on Saturday. The patch I sprayed on my lawn in the video is still completely dead.
I might get this, but i might really need some type of total vegetation killer. A friend used to get something from an herbary nearby. My neighbors have too much weeds, growth, and brush growing along the fence line and they really pay no attention the 2 or 3 feet closest to me. I also have an area i need to completely clear out. I don't care if grass or anything ever grows there again. I also have 1 spot in my front and back yard where tree fell and brush has become a problem ever sense
You, GeoundClear is what you want if you want a total vegetation killer that kills it and keeps it killed for a year. I have a link below for (weed and grass killer) which is also a total vegetation killer, except it only kills what you see, it doesn't prevent weeds regrowing. Thanks in advance for using my links in description. 👍🏼
@@HandymanHertz Are you mixing the 3 in the video or spraying separately?
Im only mixing the ground clear in the video with a little bit of blue marking paint (optional). You dont want to mix them. Just choose whichever route you want to go and mix according to the label 👍🏼
@@HandymanHertz OK I've seen guys with herbicides on other videos to make them bead more or other things. Do you not use the other two products on the same area at all?
@SonicBoomC98 nope. I use 2,4d of if I want to kill broadleaves in my grass but don't want to kill the grass or I a grass and weed killer if I want to kill everything but don't want the soil dead or I use ground clear to kill everything and kill the soil for a year. Depending on what I'm wanting to die
How close can you get other other plants and trees?
The instructions say not to go underneath trees, canopies, or even twice the canopy of the Ritz. You'd have to look. As you can see in my video two months after results video I sprayed right next to my hosta plant and it is perfectly fine! That video is in the description
I noticed in the video, you had three products displayed but, I only saw you pour the Ground Clear. Are you using all three and also, what is your ratio of water to the products. Thanks in advance.
You're right I could see where that could be confusing. This is only about groundclear. The other two are for different applications. I only mixed ground clean with water and some coloring. The directions calls for 24oz of ground clear to be added to a gallon. This is for the concentrate that I had.
What do i do after it kills the weed & the grass do i just put seeds where the dead grass is 🙁??
I'm not sure you understand what this does... It kills the soil for a year. I'm not sure what your options are now. I'd look at the forums online.
When will the 5 week update be posted?
Oh, I was going to wait 6 months to do a big results video with multiple stages. But I can probably get work on the video next week, though, if yall wanted sooner results?
Please update your links with the place to buy flame thrower lol
Okay I will!
updated!
At Tractor Supply, 1 Gal of Ortho is $30.00 & 1 Gal of RM43 is $80.00. Ortho requires 24 Oz per Gal of water, while RM43 requires 6 Oz per Gal of water.
1 Gal of Ortho makes 5.3 Gals of sprayable product, while 1 Gal RM43 makes 21.3 Gals of sprayable product. This equals $5.67 per sprayable Gal of the Ortho vs $3.75 per sprayable Gal of RM43. They both kill all vegetation a long time. I have used both and stuck with RM43 because the savings adds up over time.
Interesting, that's great to know, thanks for sharing and breaking down the numbers 👍🏼
I might add that the 2 gallon jug of ortho should be considered if using against the rm43 in terms of vale. It's 49.99 on Amazon, which brings it down to $25/gallon instead of $30.
This makes it $3.94/usable gallon of spray for ortho, which is almost equal to rm43 @ $3.75/gallon.
My Math: 256 ounces of ortho (2gal)/24 (ounces that you add to 1 gallon of water) makes 10.66 "batches". Each batch is 1.19 gallon (1 gallon water with 24oz groundclear). So, 10.66*1.19=12.68 gallons of sprayable solution solution. $50/12.68= $3.94 per gallon of sprayable solution.
Too much math for the morning. 😵💫
Rm43 uses glyphosate as one active ingredient which has become resistant to a lot of weeds, and has become the target in "potential cancer causing" discussions amongst some groups of ppl. I dont buy into that, personally, but it's something for people to consider.
Tractor supply atleast in California is in a licensing agreement with the RM43 for the last few months. Are you running into this issue? Not sure what to do in the mean time which is why I stumbled on this video
100% does not last a year, used a 5 gallon backpack sprayer and saturated my fence line and had fresh new growth and RE-growth in about three weeks. And so much growth by the sixth week I needed to completely respray the whole fence line.
100% has not been my experience. I just did my 5 week video in test spots in videos and everything's dead, no green.
