- Climbing Blake Slide In the Adirondack Mountains. This was a very interesting slide climb. There is a Lower Slide on the bottom of the mountain then in the middle of the mountain you have a large section of forest and bushwhacking and then you have a large headwall at the top of the mountain that is extremely steep. So far every climb that I’ve done has been very different. This one started out as a drainage that was flowing water. Two minutes later it was completely dry. And then five minutes later it was flowing again and we were climbing a waterfall. Then it was a mixture of water and dry drainage whacking to get to the base of the slide. It really was pretty short-lived. We first hit the bottom slide maybe 30 minutes in from the base. The slide at the bottom was very timid compared to most of the slides we’ve done. At the top of the bottom slide it was a mixture of small sections of boulders and bushwhacking and slippery drainage whacking. The final and top headwall had a very grippy rock and although it was ridiculously steep there was lots of little flat ridges and cracks on the way up which gave you a huge sense of security. We did this after a long period of zero rain and hot baking sun. I only know one other person to have ever done the slide and he did it when It was more on the wet side. From his trail report and in my opinion of the wet rocks I did encounter on parts of that slide. If this slide is wet do not attempt. It is so unbelievably slippery that it will not even be possible if the slide is wet. If the slide is dry this hike is not too bad!!

Tips for people just getting into hiking:
Don’t do this hike if you are a beginner! Seriously
LNT - leave no trace. Meaning if you carry it in then carry it out and if you do see trash on trail try to carry it out as well to help keep these mountains beautiful and clean.
Do The Rock Hop - The Alpine vegetation is very rare and very fragile so when you’re on the summit of these mountains please only walk on bare rocks to avoid killing the vegetation.
