- Sub 4 minutes was the last minute barrier possible to break in this game. I'm really happy with that time and I'm now 100% done with that category!

- What's that ticking sound before the teleport?
I'm using a metronome and try to move forward at the 4th beat.
- How do you teleport?
You want to block for 129 frames, then walk forward for 4 frames. You can use a different timing like 126/7 for example, the goal is to reach 133 frames.
- Why are you teleported to the Stone Platform right after you die?
We zip so far away from the capital that the ground start despawning. That makes Hoarax Loux and Elden Beast dies from fall damage. Since Hoarax Loux has a second phase, it teleports us back to his arena. A few seconds later, Elden Beast dies and we are instead teleported to the Stone Platform.

@@KakuraZenom hoarah loux has nothing to do with it, it's just that killing elden beast automatically teleports you to the stone platform where you can end the game

To be fair all the glitches you got going on you shouldn’t stop the time on the loading screen. I’ve never played but to (Beat) the game that fast must be a dumb not well thought through game.

i always love how speedruns evolve from playing the game quick, to not play the game at all and just skip everything roll credits lol
That's actually what kills it for me.... Like, what's the fun in this? It just all seems so pointless but I guess I'm basing this opinion from other, much more involved speedruns.

also it can still be challenging to get all the inputs perfectly in such a tight run like this
there is a reason why runs like this are in a separate category vs other normal runs, you can still watch runs in those categories, it's not like glitched runs like this are replacing them
Speed runs have category for this reason. This is an any% and method run. You just have to beat the final boss. However, there is a glitchless all boss run and glitchless 100% run and those imo are interesting.

love how a game specifically about killing bosses and hard enemies has a speedrun where the character doesn’t even fight anything except the final boss and when he does he dies immediately
That's after the "final" boss, right? The final boss dies once he reaches the last guy.
no no, what happens is he fights the third-to-final boss, and dies only soon after the actual final boss dies to gravity waaaay down below. what's really happening within all the zips and frames going on, is he made the game load in the arena for the Elden Beast (the final boss) because the actual physical arena is actually way below the arena that third-to-final boss sits in. and as it loads, and the immediately unloads, within those few frames the Elden Beast drops to it's death via gravity.
not even a god in souls games can escape gravity.

I tried zips myself, these require extremely precision in the right direction, one centimeter left or right means restart

@@Joyexer I'm telling ya, even on my 2021 hardware, with lowest settings on, I got like 2 zips out of 100 tries, it is so inconsistent even with macros. This is some god like drummers skills to be able to hit the button within the 109 - 113 frame window

@@edburton6801 basically you perform "The Zip" which is by holding block with certain weapons. At this point the blocking idle animation will loop, and if you turn around and start moving at exactly the right time during the point at which the loop resets, it launches you incredible distances. This is why you see the space bar light up, and then a metronome begin to play. The metronome tells the streamer around when the loop resets.
Can you do this on console?
@@AnimeHero18 probably not. It requires you to have perfect constant 60 fps in newer patches. This is in addition to it being very hard to execute in the first place.

I don't speedrun at all, but I have to imagine people use some kind of software to hack the game where they can maybe use a freeroaming camera to see where all the collision points are and move around the boundaries of all the geometry to see how every little piece of the map fits together. It seems like there's almost no way you could ever figure this stuff out simply by playing the game regularly.

7 months ago I watched Distortion bring the WR down from over an hour to under 7 minutes and I didn't think it would get below 6 minutes. You have nearly halved that time XD I should not underestimate the dedication of speed runners to break a game over their knees.
I'm very surprised to see so many hate comments, do they even realize how hard it is to do a run like this? I guess they don't even understand what the player is doing and what is this speedrun category.

apparently ppl first noticed the zip glitch happening on random livestreams, and then some other ppl figured out how to make it happen regularly
If you have access to videos, it's easier to figure out how to make it happen
The only thing that I don't understand is why the timer goes backward 1 second at 2:22
The timer I'm using reads the file ingame time. So after quitting out, the timer might be different from the ingame time

Congrats! Can I ask who came up with the new skip in the Farum arena? I thought you were supposed to zip to the side first, then to the other side, then megazip. Now it's a single megazip from the arena itself... Why wasn't it working before? I'm starting to wonder if you can zip directly from the Farum preview to the arena, lol. That would save, like, an entire minute. And turn you crazy.
I've listened to your commentary on your twitch version, I'm sure you're not done with the game. This process is too entertaining to watch 😋
Virazy found most of the new reroute, the only missing piece was going through the fog gate which I found accidentally. Without that zip, we would have to zip out of the arena, then run all the way back behind the fog gate and re enter the arena.
The last mega zip to kill maliketh is also new, it requires a specific positionning to bounce you back outside the arena
You can't zip from the preview area directly to the arena due to the height difference. Same reason why you can't zip directly from the bridge to the arena. The only known/possible setup to zip from the preview to mainland requires you to jump down a few times, do a very precise zip where you also have to hold block for 6 seconds instead of 2 and then you land on the large tower next to the arena, from where you can't even zipkill maliketh since he isn't loaded and would be required to walk around for like half a minute to get to the same spot where you do the current zip.. So yeah, that's much slower.
@@seekerTV I just saw Hyper took your record a month ago for 2 seconds... With, like, only 9 or 10 failed zips. Are you planning to challenge him in the future (maybe some zip rerouting, if at all possible?), or are you happy with being the first sub-4, which no one can take from you? ;-)
@@renobutters if some news strats are found maybe :P But right now that run is pretty much as good as I can do, I only got unlucky with one zip towards the end where I had to try it again

Doable, considering there are 10 failed zips if I've counted correctly. But that would require perfect, tas-like execution, or a new skip.

I’ve not kept up with ER speedruns since Distortion got the record so I thought I’d check in and I found this.
First off, smart use of the metronome that’s a real simple and clever way to get the warp done waaaay more consistent!
Secondly, besides failing the warps because obviously that’ll cut time off, do you think there’s a better route to be discovered?Lots has changed since I last checked and you’ve cut the last speedrun record I was aware of in half essentially!

There is a potential earlier zip where you would land on some rocks instead of the academy bridge. That would save maybe 5-10s of running.
Other than that, the run is pretty much optimized
