I would love to get a figure of Cyclops in a jacket without the visor or glasses! He was extra badass with that look. Also would love to get Prof X in his grey sweater/suit from when he confronts Danger, but that's definitely at the bottom of the want list for "Astonishing" based figures.
Since everyone loves the Jim Lee version of the X-Men they should just make them all in that style. I think that Hasbro should make artist inspired lines of figures in the most popular artists' style. Like a Humberto Ramos Spider-Man?

Would have been great if these came included with an additional blast effect accessory for Cyclops and an extra (more widely spread) cape for Emma Frost (or even a cloth cape instead of a plastic one), but at least these are nicely sculpted figures.

Slick text wipes at the top, Robo! Also, very surprised at how much newness they crammed into these. As much as I like the newer bodies, I'm a full-cowl Cyclops guy, so I settled for HoX Scott until this was announced. It's too bad we already got a Havok recently - I'd love to see all three brothers on some version of this frame.
I’m not necessarily sure why some people are so dead-set against the colored lips like on this Cyclops figure. Are a person’s lips the same color as their skin?
I think it's mainly how heavy handed it comes across on some figures. One figure that stood out to me was the retro Iron man- (the one with the big cannon thingy) he came off very doll-like with the added lip details.
That is a very John Cassaday Emma Frost. For Cyclops, they don't have to cut of the smoke effects. Just use some red clay or puddy or some to fill the gap -something you can remove. It's a waste to destroy the laser smoke effect.
That Wolverine Emma Frost body looks great with the Black Queen Emma head you put on it with the Marvel Select cape. Love it! I also love the current Astonishing Emma we are gonna get. I hope so much that there is a Diamond variant with no cape.
I don't really even mind Robo liking the Astonishing X-MEN team because they are cool and both the figures look dope as they should be, But to me, Jim Lee is my favorite version of X-MEN but Great review overall Robo
I'm conflicted. I love that they're giving comic figures the love and unique sculpts they deserve. Astonishing especially, I might be a Jim Lee 90s kid, but Astonishing hit during a really formative time of my life and even if I wasn't super deep in comics, the designs and impression of very mature adult story tell left and impact. That being said, there's some fit and finish that feels lacking. Scott's height, Emma being knock kneed, and brace yourself I'm gonna have *words* about Fang 😢. That said ho lord that Astonishing line up looks amazing. I skipped heat claws Logan because revoltech fills my shelf, but seeing that alternate head with the more pinched fins is just money.
I would like to personally thank everyone who selflessly gave up single use plastic straws, lids, bags and cutlery so we could, once again, have plastic windows for our toys. Apparently some weirdos like to keep them in the box and couldn't see what they bought! Which actually makes sense... especially to combat swappers!
I kept looking at the Emma Frost figure and I couldn't put my finger on who it looks like, that is until I started watching Harley Quinn and looked up who was doing the voice of Harley and then it hit me Kaley Cuoco. Could she possibly play Emma in an upcoming X Men movie?
Not read any of the comics with this uniform. I do like the look of it. I’m kinda tempted to paint the visor so it matches his gold lines. Think it’ll look good. Still waiting on a retro carded classic cyclops.
I appreciate that they used John Cassaday's art on the sides. Always nice when Hasbro go with the prominent artist of a story for the art. Cyclops looks really good other than the height and lack of non-smoking visor and blast effect. So close, Hasbro! Emma looks okay given what the costume is, and I feel like a cloth cape would be perfect for a diamond version so she can do more arm stuff. The head sculpt isn't good, but Astonishing Emma is *my* costume for Emma. Perfect kitbash for me is Astonishing with Hellfire head Emma, since her hair changes all the time anyway. That'd be my "catch all" Emma. Also, the New X-Men jacket look came before the Astonishing looks. I remember early on, Logan pushes back against the superhero-y Astonishing suits but Cyclops says the New X-Men suits were making people nervous.
Oh yeah, but then when they go to Breakworld and Cyke is playing possum with his eyeblasts he's wearing the puffy NewX jacket over his Astonishing costume.
Okay, I'll admit, it's been a bit since I've read the series, maybe he was more naked by then. BUT, he was definitely wearing it when he first lost his blasts and was carrying the gun. I think. Somewhere in there.
You are definitely wrong, Emma Frost does not have short hair at any point in the Astonishing run. This is definitely her best face by far, at the end of the day it's identical to the art. They like to complain about nothing, it's her best face, period.

Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men still holds the title of BEST run since Claremont, with Morrison’s run coming in right behind it. It feels like Hasbro keeps making Cyke a little TOO buff, though. They need a slimmer hero-buck.
Cyclops was only slim as a teen. He's 6'3 and 195lbs as an adult. That's nowhere near "slim" anymore. Gambit 6'1 and 175 could be considered slim. Darwin at 6'4 and 150lbs is really slim.

Very simple solution on Emma, make the cape narrow on the shoulders or more loose, put her triple joint arms, in that way, movement will be better, or make her cape removable, like the older version. Why Cyclops is shorter, lol?

(My Dad envies you're hats so I wanted to check) Also, do john walker custom unpainted heads have a socket for a hasbro neck joint, or do they have a giant tube socket so someone could put sticky tac inside for whatever figure. even if you don't respond, I wanted you to know I love your videos.
When Hasbro puts in the effort I am torn because I'm happy they tried but it also reminds you of the times they didn't... in this very same wave...just sculpt a clawed hand with less fingers!!!

Thank you for this video. It helped me cancel my preorder. That Cyclops is too basic and Emma Frost is basically a statue. Neither of them justify paying 25 bucks each.
How could they mess up Emma Frost so much. The figure is great and horrible at the same time. Her elbow joints are strange and are moved forward it looks strange. Also they made a coat for major Toht. And if they cane make a coat for Major Toht they can make a cape for Emma frost. Considering the current prices I am reevaluating my life choices.
The Astonishing Cyclops figure has to be one of the best on this Wave.

She doesn't have the other head left and she doesn't need to, this is Emma's best head to date, but of course not everyone has good taste.
