Honestly, anyone who has actually read the Plagueis novel would know that Sidious' true power was manipulation and capable planning. He may have not killed Plagueis the courageous way, but as far as Sidious was concerned, Plagueis had lost the right to call himself master the moment he let his guard down. And besides, the author confirmed Sidious and Plagueis were equals by that point anyway.
And even then plaguies let sidious kill him
@@danielsuarez3198 I feel like Plaguies knew it was going to happen at some point. Seeing as it’s only natural within the rule of two to be seceded by their apprentice.
@@Danny___Riot Actually was trying to learn the secrets of immortality so he wasn't planning on passing it along as stated on the novel.
Luceno confirmed that sidious thought they were equals but also that he wasn't sure. Plagueis had reversed his aging process and could resurrect the dead, both abilities that sidious didn't have. I would like to know why Plagueis didn't share those secretes with sidious as that was supposedly his plan, and also what was he thinking when he was staring down sidious in his final moments? Was he trying to essence transfer or just being arrogant about his immortality? Great novelization
As much as i agree, tgat book is marked as star wars legends. I am one of the people who believe it to be canon-accurate but that does not mean i'm right
If I remember correctly, Darth Plagueis after the attack that nearly killed him, didn’t sleep for years. And I think it’s partly because of this, that he was able to be duped into drinking and passing out. Using the force to not fall asleep for years, must be absolutely taxing! It’s a big part of how he fell.
Yup, the night of his death was the first time he even came close to sleep in like 25 years or something
Prior to this point, Plagueis hadn't actually slept since the assassination attempt. The fact that Plagueis was drunk and passed out was when the Dark Side called to Sidious. That was his moment of weakness that allowed Palps to seize the opportunity.
I actually find it fitting that it was an act of treachery and overwhelming use of The Dark Side that killed Plagueis. What's more concerning to me is that The Dark Side itself spoke to Sidius and told him to go for it. Sometimes I can't help but feel that The Dark Side has its own will independent of "The Will of The Force" and that it's more than just corruption.
I agree
Are you saying the Dark Side told him to... dewww it?
@@Antilluminati yes, yes I am.

There were two sides, two ways to power and achievement. One was slow and patient with discipline, and far more worthwhile. The other was faster, easier even; and far more seductive…
Before the Force was how people wielded it, it was a choice of which path you chose and which one would serve you in the end…even as a prequel fan I miss this spirituality

Plagueis not being Snoke was a massive waste.

I'd really like to see a Clone Wars-type series about Plagueis and Sidious
Tales of the Sith
Sidious’ training would be a great Star Wars short story
No thanks, literally everything being made under the Star Wars brand right now is sucking ass. There were a few decent moments in the Mandalorian and that's about it. Everything else has been awful.
We need at least a decade of down time and a completely new team of writers influencing the direction of Star Wars storytelling. Not to mention the book Darth Plagueis is already a nearly perfect representation of his character and his been de-canonized.
Yes this is what I’ve been saying since tales of the jedi
@@yawgmoth6568 tales of the Jedi especially Dooku was great
Yeah,I think a combination of Plagueis not fearing his apprentice, since he felt they had now grown past where they'd need to strive for dominance, and purportedly not sleeping for years, prior to this point, did the Muun Sith Lord in. He could finally rest, and so he did.
Seems more like the dark side itself took over Sidious and told him to kill plaguis. I think his master was probably one of the few people who he truly respected. If he really wanted to, he could have left him for dead when the assassination attempt was made but didn’t. He was even about to leave until the dark side itself seemingly took over. Even in his hate fulled ranting he said he’d always appreciate what he taught him and kept his word years later at still calling him plaguis the “wise”. It’s kind of hard to know for sure what he really felt about him. He put his ashes in a type of spirit earn that was some kind of Sith tradition of some sort. If he didn’t have at least kind of respect for him, I think he would have just dumped his body or left his ashes to blow away or something. You can hear Palpatines voice constantly change when anakin became darth Vader which was a result of the dark side itself taking over him. I don’t think it’s to much of a stretch to think the dark side almost has a mind of its own occasionally over riding its most powerful user’s judgment. Like the force itself both light and dark working thru certain people.
Well said Satan, my lord haha 🤣😈🤘
He does admit being grateful when he gloated to him
He felt grateful to him as a teacher but not a master.
But as he said, didn't let Plagueis die the first go around because he still had a lot he wanted to learn.
He did want him to die on Sojourn and we see in the book Maul he even got Maul to get the nuke that Ars Verunna and his group used against him to try to kill him.
He believed in the true way of the Sith.
Sith aren't sort to revere their masters, hate is closer to it. I'd imagine that Sideous had been planning how to kill his master for a few decades at that point, each step in the process getting progressively worse and more inventively horrible.
Agreed even Anakin was already telling Padme he was planning to overthrow Sidious just hours after swearing fealty to him as the new sith Lord Vader.
rule of two is brutal.
For some reason I read this comment and found myself imagining Sidious couching behind a rock with a bunch of Acme Roadrunner Killer rockets waiting for Plagueis.
@@davesouthword1298lol
It's much, much worse than that, even. At the very last moment, Plagueis' spirit tried to take over Sidious' body, but he failed and his spirit was then locked in a perpetual cycle of death, where he just dies over and over and over again for eternity. That's like getting eaten by a sarlacc, only eventually after many aeons the sarlacc will die and its victims will be released from their torment, but Plagueis' suffering will never end.
Palpatine: You (Plagueis) will never reach the truth. You will simply die in a loop over and over again. This is the true power of the Dark Side (Or Requiem)
I never thought of it like you described with the sarlacc, but not guna lie it's probably the closest thing to being stuck in a death loop for the rest of eternity haha... Never thought I'd say this but if I had to choose between the two evils I'd probably think the sarlacc would be the lesser of two absolutely horrid fates 😂
Kind of payback for the way plagueis killed darth tenebrus. The way tenebrus died was way more brutal and while there’s no evidence to support plagueis spirit is constantly reliving his own death (we don’t know anything), we do know that because of darth tenebrus maxi chlorine studies, his spirit is constantly reliving his death from which he was basically buried alive under the weight of massive boulders.
@@satan899 this is an important nuance honestly.
That happened to Tenebrous, not Palpatine.
And now you know the Tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise.
It’s not a tale the Jedi would have told you.
@caseyhillebrand7569 wait who was he again?
So ends Plagueis, the last Sith to die for the rule of two…
I've read the Darth Plagueis' novel on Kindle and it's still my favourite Star Wars novel after Thrawn trilogy's books, i enjoyed every part of it and i highly recommend it.
Have you read Bane's series? Those were my favorite.
@@danielstellmon5330 No, but I thought on doing so.
@@samuelebincoletto637 you should. Those three are my favorite.
We really need a Plagueis movie. Or, better yet, a series about the Rule of Two.
I just realized that Sidious took the weakness that allowed him to beat his master, and gave it to Vader.
That's why the ancient sith don't consider him true master he did it the easy way.
I'm happy I found this channel again. Thank y'all for your content always great videos. 💯
Love the quality vrs quantity you put out! Keep up the superb services!
The fact that Sidious had to get his already exhausted master drunk in order to kill him shows how much of a scumbag Sidious really is.
Sidious got the job done. That was the quickest way to gain more power.
Quickest way to gain more power but not the way to gain the most power. That would be to continue following his ridiculously insanely powerful master. Sidious is an arrogant and overconfident fool. That’s exactly why he died.
Plagueis on the other hand died because he was cursed and had like the worst possible luck imaginable. He abused to force and lusted for its power and he did receive it but while the force was insanely strong with him it was not on his side.
Great stuff as usual
Getting Plaguies drunk then wasting him, I find to be a most simple yet interesting way for Sidious to kill his master. But what about the other video made about Plaguies's own death? I remember in that video it stated that Plaguies could have a chance to fight back before Sidious struck the final blow but chose not to. The reason being, Plaguies believed himself to be the Sith Ari coupled with his mastery of the midichlorians Plaguies would be able to cheat death but ultimately could not.
Reading the book is one thing.
But I’d recommend the audiobook.
It makes the scenes more enticing.
The voice actor, especially as Plagueis, was great. The added production value with the score and sound effects made it very captivating
Sidious took the cowardly approach to achieving power. If I was a Sith Lord, I would honor the tradition of becoming the Dark Lord by defeating my master in a duel
And that's why Sidious became Dark Lord AND Emperor - not anyone else.
If im not mistaken, sidious knew he wouldnt win in a straight up fight.
@@Azriel884 you’re probably right
His name is appropriate as "Sidious" since it is derived from "insidious". He always did his worst in the shadows of the dark side. Ironic that he told Yoda, "Your arrogance blinds you, Master Yoda."
Takes arrogance to know it, I suppose....
@@archmdc370 ....And it unfortunately did, in master Yoda's case and cost a great many Jedi their very lives!!
Plagueis died of a broken heart.
This is the Star Wars movie I want, a dark side story with Darth Plagueis and Palpatine. All before and leading up to The Phantom Menace. In fact Plagueis was still alive during that time period. Basically the novel turned into a trilogy
Plagueis' death also highlights the idea that ARROGANCE IS THE BANE OF INTELLIGENCE (a personal mantra of mine), as PLAGUEIS had become complacent feeling victory was well within his grasp, while Sidious driven by the Dark Side recognized his master's moment of weakness & capitalized upon it!
I wish snoke would have turned out to be plagueis… such a waste
2:16 Well said.
I would like to thankyou for the great information you are giving about the star wars lore. I wonder if Disney will do a darth plagues movie.
Sidious had a chance when gas exploded in a mine they were both deep in.
You'd have thought that since pretty much every Sith in the order has killed their master and taken on an apprentice to maintain the rule of two (as Plagueis himself had done) that he might have predicted Sidious would ultimately try to kill him. Is every single Sith so arrogant that they feel the line will just end with them and their apprentice?
Honestly it wouldnt be out of character for a sith to be that arrogant
You made the mistake by taking me as your apprentice.
Plagueis wasn't joining the Order of the Canted Circle, he was just in attendance to support Hill. They'd offered to induct him, but he refused so they wouldn't try to look into his background
I am french and i listen for 8 months the audiobook in english ( it helps me for keep practising )
I dint read or listened to other SW books, ( I mostly ejoy the prequels/sequels + clone wars ) but i never get bored of it and that is why i find Sidous and Plagueis are the most interesting characters in all SAGA ( A banker/scientist that plays the Rule of 2 with a charismatic noble politician, both strong in the Force and united in the dark side to play the game of politics/economy/war and to take control over a whole Galaxy, this deserves an epic Film or Tv show )
If you have a suggestion for any SW or SF book that would be merely as interesting im interested ( excpet the expanse i know it )
Je recommande le SW roman "shatterpoint" mon ami
Please do a video on all star wars metals
i currently am reading james lucenos darth plageuis novel and the first book in the darth bane book trilogy
I am always skeptical and critical of those who empower themselves for the supposed good of the people.
The audiobook on audible is fantastic....its so well dramatized. ive listened to it several times
I really wish Disney would make a movie or the very least a new series about the life of Palpatine. From his youth to whenever.
When I think of darth Vader he completed his path as the chosen one, but he also fulfilled the rule of 2 by killing his master. He killed palpatine at the last minute in the same way palpatine killed his master. Neither could’ve expected their apprentices to kill them in that moment. It explains why palpatine couldn’t see it coming.
we need a movie of this novel❤️
I liked the video but one thing was wrong. Plagueis wasn't joining the order of the canted circle, he had declined a offer 20 years before that... I've listen to the book prolly 100 times or more... I love it
A lesson for life don’t get too drunk 🍺
In Episode X, a flashback narrated by Luke depicts the battle between Sidious and Plagueis that takes place in the secret Sith base in the Industrial Sector of Coruscant.
How do you spell the name of that martial art that was created to counter the effects of force wielders (Timestamp is ~3:34)?
Ikachi? Ikatchi? Itachi? I can't seem to find it on any Wookiepedia, etc. Someone help!
I just reread this awesome book, but I started wondering, whatever happened to ALL the knowledge from the Sith library AFTER Palpatines death?
They were actually at plagueis apartment, and he did gather the force enough for his form to become animorohic for a moment
Loved this book i always thought this could have been a fantastic film
How cool it would've been if Snoke turned out to be Plaguies
Just imagine if it was Plagueis that tempted Sidious to attack him, and not the dark side. And then imagine he actually didn't die. He just had to let Sidious believe he was dead.
Your idea of Plagueis surviving may be true. Look at a picture of Plagueis. Notice the physical similarities with Snoke? Plagueis lost his lower left jaw in an assassination attempt. Snoke appears as if his lower left jaw is missing. Neither Plagueis nor Snoke has much of a nose. Both were very tall. According to the ROS Visual Dictionary, Snoke was a clone of Plagueis to honor his old teacher. Sidious grew rather sedimental for Plagueis in his old age. That explains why Snoke was freakishly powerful in TLJ. Look how easily he punished Kylo Ren by bouncing lightning off the floor in the throne room scene. With just two fingers. He overpowered and tortured Rey with ease. And just like Darth Maul survived being bisected, we may yet again see Snoke/Plagueis.
Sounds like Kubrick repeating the words "Only the best people" in all his films.
The novel I have to read. And the Doctor Who Warmonger. And the Plaguels novel. And I can imagine if Plaguels had met the time lord the Master. And played the game of Rassalion
Plagueis killed his own master himself too when the opportunity was there, not openly, just at the moment when Tenebrous was distracted and let his guard down.. not a bad novel i have to admit and it shows good how afraid the Sith where of Qui-Gon
Definitely the best book I've ever read and I'm going to read it again
Is the merchandise you're selling licensed?
Plagueis didn't "conquer death." He actually failed. Darth Venemous" body literally falls part during the experiments.
Sooo dope
Damn that was pretty cool.
He got him drunk and took advantage of that. Oldest trick in the book.
Heck Yeah!
the quote unquote 'canon' is infuriating - this would mean Sidious was still an apprentice long after maul had been killed.. no Plaguis died hundreds of years before and Palpatine had mastered his art long before that - Palpatine was so old he had been putting up a hag's illusion for hundreds of years at that point which was only revealed when Windu blasted him in the face with his own lightning
We need a three season 10 1hr episodes of Palpatine - from birth to “death”
So, if he and Plagueis were celebrating his becoming a Chancelor in Episode 1, where the hell did Maul come from already completely trained and ready to go?
Pretty sure sidious already had Maul as a secret apprentice
Maul was trained to be a sith assassin, not a dark lord. This is the reason he used a double bladed lightsaber and why he was mostly taught about the combat focused abilities in the Force. Maul had great potential, be he was never meant to be more than a weapon.
@@herbalyzoltan409 Ah ok thanks for the additional information as it surely answers a few questions I had. Been a while since I listened to excellent audio book that should never of been left out of the canonical story of Star Wars. But if my memory serves me right he was purchased from the strange witch type women as someone with force abilities? So to be sure he was never meant to be part of the rule of two thing, which inevitably means them turning on the master in the future. One of my favourite things in the book that hardly anyone ever mentions is Plagueis takeover of the ship with the droid that ended up serving Plagueis or was it Hugo Damask? That bit was as Star Wars as it gets that kinda highlights the problems with AI technology and Asimov laws of robotics imo.
@@herbalyzoltan409Your wrong Sidious intended Maul to be his new apprentice after killing plaguies but after his defeat at Naboo Palpatine saw him as a broken toy
Ironic. Palpatine killed Plagueis when Plagueis,s guard was down. Vader killed Palpatine when Palpatine's guard was down.
Palpatine was not mockering his former master that he could not save his life, but because him, Palpatine saved his life after Vader killed him. His soul went to cloners who created his new body after which he met Kylo Ren. So Palpatine managed to save his own life after death, and probably created that secret cloning organisation by the time he was in opera house because he didn't knew whether he will survive clash with Mace Windu or whoever will be sent to arrest him
I thought Plagueus didnt fight back...almost like a dare but he overestimated his power...at least thats how I remember it from the novel I read years ago
Palpatine got plagues drunk on wine that had poison in it and when he passed out Palpatine killed him and the poison is why he couldn't defend himself or feel that it was going to happen through the force is that what happened
WoW!
The Canted circle
Plagueis was plagued by his physical injury/deformity.
I thought that smirk was cause he knew it would pull anakin In talking about saving others from death.
I wouldn't expect any less of Darth Sidious.
I like the guy Ian McDiarmid for his portrayal of Palpatine. But the fight with him where the Jedi council come to arrest him just hurts my soul. It looks so slow and clumsy and made the jedi masters look like dudes that I could beat in a fight. I wish they got some stunt doubles and really choreographed the fight in a way where a sped up Sidious struck down the Jedi in a fast and force intensive way.
That was originally the plan, they had all of it, stunt doubles, good choreography but Lucas screwed it.
I love the story to death, but one thing I've never understood is why Plagueis doesn't fully heal his jaw or respiratory system when it's established that he's mastered the ability to self-heal wounds. Would that not have been an obvious vulnerability that he could have fixed to no longer have any need for the transpirator?
I think it’s implying he cannot repair the already permanently healed and I’m assuming it’s also a homage to vaders suit being palps shock collar for his pet
Lol “Be Weary” I am bro. I am. 😅
Can we PLEASE get a movie!!!!!
Darth Plagueis is also my favorite book and was the first I owned.
Or did Plagueis get the ultimate revenge and for saw the betrayal and manipulated the Midiclorians to birth forth Anakin.
Anakin would grow to be the strongest of all the Jedi, fall and turn to the DarkSide and become Palpatine's greatest apprentice, only to betray and kill him.
Im kinda shocked that Darth Plagueis didnt have his life force bound to a sith object or something incase an event like this occurred.
I'm to be honest that is one the most cowardly things that any sith lord has ever done, and also if this happened in the old republic era this version of Sidious would be so dead.
Plagueis novel is so far one of, if not the best I've read, legend or otherwise. It might ad well be canon, who can do better?
I think it was more so plaugesis arrogance that killed him. He thought he was truly immortal.
I read it wasn't SIdious, but lung cancer from smoking too many Marlboro's.
Yep plagious was was pissed.
Wary, not weary.
I gues it can happen but if I was a strong force user and got caught while sleeping and needed breathing room I would have used all my power to forcepush sidious away with all that power you wil send sidious flying through the room hitting the wall sustaining injury giving you time to focus
Vader scared to look at me I mean Sid. How Does a Lord Of The Black fall asleep in front of Sidious..And I don't know the whole verbal . I know The Power
Sheev was a master strategist & manipulator who never stopped scheming. He maneuvered his master into a false sense of security and took advantage of an obvious weakness to get rid of him. If he had openly challenged his master there is no guarantee that he would have been able to defeat him. In retrospect it was tactically brilliant, but I still can't help but to see it as a "bitch move". This coincides with Bane's Rule Of Two that the apprentice must kill his master to succeed him as Dark Lord but Bane would have scoffed and found him unworthy for the manner in which he did it. 🤷🏾♂️
I want a fan fiction of plagues winning the fight. Then he trains anakin
I think he would've taken Dooku over Anakin.
A surprise to be sure
But a welcome one to be sure
Wait, Sithlords can get drunk??
