Let's not forget about Astana. Not many teams (read ONE) were going to build an entire team around an aging sprinter just to give him a shot at the record. Chapeau to them for playing a huge part in helping him achieve this historic record!
Astana and Vinokourov took and gave Cav one more chance after last Tour. I would say all credits (outside of Cav himself) go to Astana and Vino
I was stood next to the finish line and saw him win. So emotional. What a great end to my holiday ❤️
Wow! A once in a lifetime event.
This Cavs win was SPECIAL. Not just a win at 39 but his 35th win in emphatic passion, working through the traffic, and smoking the "best right now" Jasper. Wow. Chapeau!!!
It was a masterclass. He looked like he won effortlessly, even if he probably left it all on the line. Surfing wheels and breaking perfectly.
The position he was in getting boxed in at the rails on the left then after having to weave his way out on the right. Unbelievable. Glad he did it like this too. I never counted him out so it's satisfying to see him silence the doubters.
Love Cav, but a special mention should also go to the rider directly behind the crash who bunny hops over the rider on the ground, great instinctive skills
@@CyclingStevens That was absolutely epic!
Yeah that was impressive. And I think he was impressed with himself too because he looked back like, "did anyone see that?!" 😂
My better half was very shocked today when I yelled "f*ck yes" this afternoon at the top of my voice in our living room. She nearly dropped her Nintendo Switch. I'm not a shouty person, but I was so tense this after, I had to let it out when he won from being so boxed-in. I am so happy. Well done Mark. We luv ya. Amazing!!!
That was me at work today, first the shout, then some tears. My coworkers think i'm nuts
I don't shout either yet I got up and yelled "Yeeeeeeees! Never count him out!" Was so happy to see him finally do it after all he has been through. Even fighting through stage 1. Amazing
Didn’t Francis say in a previous podcast that he would drink his own urine if Cav won one more stage?
He did
So happy for Cav, he was already the GOAT sprinter, but seeing him lock in the record was special. If he does commit to retirement after this, I hope he feels that accomplishment. Also, gotta shout out to the Astana team for backing him and getting him there.
He has been winning for 20 years and winning TDF stages for 15 years. He chooses the right wheels every single time, he was boxed but got onto Ackermans wheel knowing once he jumps he will open the gap! I predicted before the race he will win 3, that wasn't even a contest! Without that illness, terrible luck with crashes and being written off multiple times and left out of TDF teams we should really be talking about him winning 50 TDF stages! This race is far from over, I feel Pog will fade and Jonas get stronger
@@aliverbirduponmychest3055 I was with you right up until you said Pog will fade. Pog is going to winnthis Tour by at least 5 minutes, probably 10.
This has been the first time I've cheered a sprinter on since Peter Sagan :) what a finish that was!
Monumental stuff 🎉 I can't remember a moment I felt this over emotional about a stage finish I was watching on TV. So far this TDF is the best first week in years for me. Great show. Guys Can't wait more🎉❤
Seeing all the other riders he beat immediately congratulating him, shows how everybody loves this victory
A gap didn't just 'suddenly appear' and Cav happened to jump through it - Cav followed Ackerman's wheel knowing Ackerman was going to go and that Gibbons was a lead-out man and was going to fade, giving him space - that's what makes him such a good sprinter.
Just a millisecond before you said it, I had the exact same thought & the exact same phrase--this was a Michael Jordan moment! . Perfect!
I'm so happy for Cav! I really felt the same way you guys talked about yesterday. Wanting it so badly for him but not thinking it would actually happen. But sometimes the stars align!
Legend. Even more so as Cav has benefited from lead outs but unlike many sprinters, he doesn't need one. He can surf wheels and timely hit the air better than anyone I've ever seen.
Thinking Sagan owns that. Cav has had pretty good teams built around sprinting.
Not taking away anything from the greatest sprinter in TdF history.
@@chrischevalier6107 totally fair point with Sagan. I’d include Robbie McEwen as another who was incredible on his own. With Cav, whether it was Renshaw or Hincapie launching him or it fell apart, he could still deliver the goods.
I saw the news earlier but I wanted to wait to hear you guys talk about it.
Great show and summary of the stage. Thx!
Thanks for posting! I look forward to your perspectives. Big congrats to Cav from Houston, TX USA!
Loving the tour coverage team - bloody brilliant. Passion, insight and humour. Tidy 😊
saw that clean pair of wheels and screamed OMFG!!!! and he did it with a dropped chain at the line!
That would have been a disaster if it cost him the stage.
@@johndef5075think him dropping chain cost him a stage last year before he crashed out. But thankfully this one came off literally just as he was crossing the line so he’d stopped peddling
@@ndennan67-it wasn’t his chain last year but his derailleur-it went out of adjustment and was hunting between 2 gears-so bloody frustrating last year when it happened as Cave had the sprint won…..but he’s done it now!
Well done to get through this with less in tears than I've been since the finish!
New virtual studio looks VERY nice! Props!
Cav is 39 years old, that means he's living his 40th year, for me: A 40 year old Knight just broke the record of most stage wins in the TDF
Sounds like the stuff of legend to me. A 40 year old Knight on his two-wheeled steed winning 35 battles over decades in the TDF.
I feel lucky to have seen that , in this era of riders , that guy is a BEAST ! Wow... that was cool . Thanks Chris , Emily , and Jimmi .
Nothing wrong with showing a bit of emotion when watching something that special!
Amazing win for Cav and yes it did bring a tear to my eye.
I'm tempted to buy a Wilier bike just to say thanks to them and Astana for going all in on Mark. In fact, sod it, I'm clicking buy in a few seconds.
N+1
Happy new bike day!
Looking at the overhead and the headon video, it pretty much looked like Jasper the Disaster swung over to follow Cav. It looked to me that he may have taken Pedersons front whelle out and caused that crash
there was some argy bargy going on there for a quick second (which i am surprised no one complained about) on the run in, but he did it. glad i got to see it live, we were all invested in this.
how is it that the bunny hop over the Trek guy crashing down has gotten *zero* attention?!
I have been online today looking at Willier bikes!!! You know it!! Yes, and the helmet!
He won by a bike length + ; what a legend . He did the last metres by himself following the right wheels . and just an explosion blew them away in the last 100 metres .
I adore my Wilier bike, and I'm fully supporting the mass buy on them! 👌
Awesome!
So good again. 🥳
Watched the highlights then watch Wild Ones Pro Show,👌Cav's win in empathic style 🥳
I wanted to see you guys reaction to Cav so badly!!!!
Still can't believe what Lefevere did to him in 2022.
And in the news hes trying to take credit for taking Cav when no one else would. No mention of dumping him in a fit of petulance the following year. The man is a total wanker.
So happy for Mark Cavendish
I was on the trainer, hollering loud enough to disturb the neighbours.
Same here!!
I believe we all pushed him, we did. He MUST have felt that.
Same 😂
I wasn't crying. You were crying!
That shut them all up ! Well done Sir Mark . Psychologically the pressure is off him now so I wouldn’t be surprised if he wins another stage
Merci For the show nice to see a Lady keeping it going Andrew from France
The Manx Missle did not disappoint. Perfect wheel surfing technique
Was that Jasper Phillopson that darted across the front and caused a crash behind Cav? That man is reckless and needs to be censored, he darts around like a hummingbird to get on the fastest tail.
you just made me cry cAV THE REAL DEAL😊
Hey guys, what's the point of putting a big spoiler warning, IF YOU'RE PUTTING THE SPOILER IN THE TITLE?!?!?!?!
THIS
SIR CAVENDISH awesome legend
Yes Cav!
Spectacular Cav!!!
How many more stages will he ride in this tour?
Chippolini, Zabel, and the great Mark Cavendish.
Congratulations Cav!! Winner 🏆
like you said Jimmy FOOKEN LEGEND🏁🏆
At the finish there still is a 3 sec rule that the GC guys still have to be within that timeframe behind the main front group. Only a mechanical or crash gives you the same time, easing off will mean you lose time.
Who knew we can get the TdF for free in the UK on ITV4, not just highlights but live?! Absolutely blown away by discovering this, today 😁
Anyone see the rider pull a bunny hop out in the sprint when the other rider crashed out?
It wasn't 4h of nothing, they went through my hometown. 😊
It's kind of absurd to say "twilight of his career" when he's still beating the field 😂 Such a great feat to accomplish, happy for Cav.
I watched the last 10-12km at work in the stockroom while getting paid! I was shouting screaming. People come out of the office looking confused at my excited. Still buzzing.
As a Manx man…..🇮🇲. Sir Mark cavendish’s sprint was totally vintage Cav….hopping on the wheel, banging shoulders, moving across the road, then just as you think….where’s he going here…..to late….👌👍🇮🇲🏆
MORE excited to see the response as I was the win. Really curious what Angry T has to say about it!
HE'S ONLY BLOODY DONE IT!!!!
I don't even like Cav, but I gotta give it to him, his determination to go against the odds that are ever decreasing is inspirational. For two years he worked hard for one goal and seeing him achieve it is satisfying.
Finally he got it.
I love that.
Remember that Vingegaard lost about 30 seconds on stage 6 last year.
And still beats the shit out of Pogacar later.
There are 2 TTs that are longer than the one last year where Pogacar lost 1:38.
And there are 4 mountain stages with long climbs in the south of France within the last 7 stages and the TT on the last stage.
If Vingegaard is close to as good as he usually is he can take lots of minutes on Pogacar there.
Whose guitar (Fender Telecaster Fmt HH) is that 😉?
Who was the guy who bunny hopped the crash at the end ?? It was epic
Bryan Coquard
@ChrisHallRides can't believe it's not all over you tube that's some serious bike handling
Rolling across the finish line without a chain -->> Mechanical doping!
ems called it :D
He gonna hammer a couple more stages on this tour 😊and even if he is on something the UCI not gonna look there. This bring energy to cycling
Funny you put the "Spoilers ahead" message in the vid, but the video title already has the spoilers :)
He won it like a 2012 Cav too.
The bruv must of shit the bed this year.
Who knew? We ALL did!!
Speaks of the longevity of Cav, GOAT, legend and generational talent. Whether it was the older sprinters with big lead outs and 1500 watt bombs, or when you think the young crop of sprinters are faster and stronger than anyone that has come before them, Cav has outlasted them and beaten them all.
Saying that, I fancy Sam Bennett for tomorrow 😅
And how’s Pog narrowly avoiding a crash
2022 TdF Stages 11 & 18, 2023 TdF stages 5, 16 & 17 Jonas gained more than 1 minute on Tadej on all those stages
You guys on this channel thought he wouldnt do it….crazy. Hes gonna win one more as well I bet.
did you see his chain break at the finish line?
lol, Oh GPB and Imperial measurements. I thought you went and bought a 5.4 KG bottle of wine! Oh! you spent 12pounds...
Cavendish is now the greatest tdf rider in the world!
What do people use for fantasy league in cycling ?
Google tour de France fantasy, it's there own website
Velogames
What a f@#king intro. 😂😂 love it. Thanks for the daily shows and constant effort.
I can't find how many times he has finished the tour???
big question - Cav's glasses. discuss
Did you ever think that Jonas is not putting Pog down, but he and his team thought that his shape was not at the level it needed to be. And they are satisfied because he was not in bad of shape he thought he would be.
Need to sort out the hammer house of horror lighting on Emily..
Go Cavo 🇬🇧🖖🤙👍
Did Philipsen's quick move to the left create a chain-reaction to the cyclists behind him also forced to move more left... leading to Pedersen crashing into the barrier?
Yeah congrats Sir Cav..!!
but just as much Yeah ASTANA.!! for giving him a chance when no one else would, and building the WHOLE team around him to get this record...
If not for Vino-- M. Cavendish= 34 stage wins
Salu
Rest assured you don’t need to be British to cry of joy when Cav wins.
This is a Holywood story.
It was given to him 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
TDF 🐐 Don't give a flying f
ruit bat now if Pog wins all remaining Stages by 30 mins !
Rolling into Nice with the biggest time gap in TDF history.
History ! See Lance, that's what you could have won :(
Can someone with video editing skills do a montage of all 35 wins??
I will say this record will NEVER be beaten.
Riders now and in the future will not be riding in the main peleton long enough to get 35 or maybe more wins.
i think it's worth watching the Jay Vine interview from late in 2023 where he explains how Pogi never stood a chance at the 2023 TDF due to the fact that Pogi would never have been able to achieve the minimum chronic training load (CTL) he would need to start the tour with to be able to sustain in week 3. basically Jumbo drilled it from the gun to overload Pogi and put him into negative. It worked. This is no different for Vingo and to a level of extent, Remco.
So now UAE will return serve. After seeing that interview it makes sense
More legendary: Cav, or Jimmi's shirt?
Historical or Hysterical?
Cavandish is now complaining. About the cameraman and the tour director on the road primadonna mode!!!
@Cade_Media Watching from Germany, I really like your channel. One remark: Since you said you are trying to pronounce names correctly: Lidl is not pronounced like little, but more like leedle (like needle)😊 Also I am really sorry for that awful color scheme of Team Lidl Trek.😂
Interesting! We have Lidl in the UK and even its own TV adverts pronounce it like little. In fact their tagline is ‘every Lidl helps’ (like every little helps)
👍 „Again what learned“, as we say in Germany. So it’s up to whoever says it.
@@emilychilds8085the middle of Lidl! Where one can buy sewing machines, power tools and musical instruments on the same shopping trip.
I think Cav won his first TdF stage in 2008, so if the next GOAT is currently in the peloton we have about 15 yrs at least.
