- I finally turned my 2018 Audi RS3 into a full blown race car and took away its daily driver responsibilities. I have now purchased a 2012 Audi S4 - B8 as my new daily driver. I have always loved these magnificent 3.0L supercharged V6 engines and feel super lucky that I now get to have one of my own. I have put on a total of 4000km so far and in this video I walk you through what I had to go through to buy this car as well as the issues that have already arisen.

Been watching for a few months now and only just realised you have under 5k subscribers! Was genuinely shocked! The level of content you are making is insane man keep it up
Thank you very, VERY much for your kind words! I'm trying my best to put out content that is entertaining and informative.
0:55 love the *fwapap* sound the exhaust gives from the revs, then when you launch it, I love the first dip in the RPM where it sounds like it's just sitting at 2,000 for a second or so, then BOOM takes off through the RPM range. Sounds awesome, can't wait to pickup my S4!
This platform is extremely reliable, up until stage 2. Once you push the power to that point, there are several weak links to address. One of them is the supercharger intercoolers leaking. I haven't seen a stronger aftermarket replacement with equal pressure drop to the OEM intercoolers. Another is the OEM cats - I'd like to see a DIY for removal on those. Thank you for providing more content for this platform! I love my 6MT B8 S4.
Thanks for the recommendations
JHM has a cat setup that moves them further downstream so they don't melt. Check it out.
@@ster9765 I've looked into this already and have seen many poor reviews of the JHM welds holding up on their pipes
I have had mine for over 6 years and a year ago did the stage 2 and got my first failure of any component a few days back with a very small leake detected by Audi in the intercooler and I got both changed plus carbon cleaning done.
Will the OEM cats be safe on stage 1, 034 motorsports?
Love the new daily bro I daily a b8.5 dual pulley it puts a smile on my face everyday I drive it
Glad to hear it!
Really enjoy your channel..just cautionary tale. The good: people see your lic plate...the bad: people see your lic plate.
Rock on Adam👍 can't wait to see what you do with the daily driver.
If people want to find me, licenses plate or no license plate.. they can find me.
Dude, I really appreciate this story. Thought i was the only one with oops decisions or scammers. Side note, you have mad control of your ego. Good on ya.
Thank you very much!
Wecome to the S4 club, look forward to following the build!
Thanks!
Nice to hear about the new ride, I drive a Stage 2 B8 S4 but it’s currently down since my clutch packs are slipping and have a gearbox malfunction, can’t wait to see what you will do to this beast of an S4!
Thanks for watching!
I just bought one some 3 weeks ago. The amount of joy I get from driving this thing is incredible. Interested on seeing the route you take on modifying your car.so I can do the same😅😋 best of luck. 👍
Thanks! We are just getting started with it and we'll have videos up on the channel in the weeks to come!
Good luck with the S4 man. Go with IE you wont be disappointed 💪

O34 Motorsport all the way!
Had my 2010 white one since 2014, a very low mileage car and still has only 83k. Stage 2 with sport diff. No part failures ever except 2 weeks ago I got the intercoolers changed and carbon cleaning done by Audi.
km not miles. Eurodyne tune with a custom dsg tune by a tuning shop. They spent 9 hours on the dsg.
I love how you wanted to rescue this car haha. Also, sorry to hear about the extra hurdles with it
As soon as I saw how beat up the poor thing was I knew I needed to get it into a better home to treat it like it should be treated.
Great video dude, the S4 is what I'm saving up for now 😂😂
Thanks and good luck!
Hi Adam! I know what You filings. I bought my S4 B8 6 months ago from S4 Lover( Hi call that himself) And I already had to do Timing chain, all fronts panels and radiators and now transmission. But I love the car‼️ I hope it will bring you as much joy as me👍
Thanks and I'm sorry you have had to go through so much with your car already!
Man sorry for all the crap you went through with this S4, but with a proper tune etc, you can see 500 hp and 11 seconds in the quarter mile which is crazy for a four door sedan!
I have the A6 with this motor and it's definitely a sleeper.
Keep those vids coming.👍😁
Thanks!
Integrated Engineering!! A full dual pulley race car would be awesome to see! I have their intake on my B8.5, sounds great, just saving up for their stage 1 (no pulley upgrades) ecu and tcu tunes. Gotta keep it reliable and on the cheaper end as I am only 19 and still in college. Will be keeping up with this series!
Check out the video after this where I announce that I chose IE for my tuning software!!!
Just curious how the car has been holding up after 3 years...currently interested in one
Thanks for sharing. Very surprised you didn't run with all these redflags. Hope you got one hell of a deal on it. Bet the owner posted it as very good condition too. Lol I like how owners think because it's an audi it's nice shape regardless if it's had the crap best out of it for it's life. I look forward to your next vids for this build.
Thanks for watching. So far my experience tells me I should have walked away, haha. I just couldn't bring myself to leave this poor car in the hands of someone that just abused it so badly.
Hell yeah. I was already subbed for the RS3 vids, but now you have a B8 S4?? I have an 8.5, so I’m pumped for some content, bro!
I'm pumped too!!!
Vancity Audi mines currently stage 1 on ECU and TCU (APR), although I’m considering checking out integrating engineering, mostly for the convenience on flashing at home. Any idea what brand you’ll go for?
@@rockhardfister3441 still researching, but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon
Welcome to the S4 family! When you said you needed a daily as your RS3 was too much now, I had a feeling you'd go for an S4 you seem to like them when you've had them on the channel.
Thanks! Ya, I've always had a soft spot for that 3.0L V6. I'm really excited to see how this all turns out

Vancity Audi go APR if you’re local to a dealer
@@Uncbennn I've already chosen Integrated Engineering. This video is a little old now.
I'm excited to see you mod this car. I have a b8.5 S4 with Stage 1 APR and 034 TCU Tune (On-the-Fly adjustable launch control). The thing is crazy now. spin all 4 without any effort. Now need better tires. The APR ECU and 034 TCU combo gets me 3.85 0-60 using Dragy at around 60 degrees. The only mod I got is DIY Airbox Mod with AFE air filter (Where you drill holes under the airbox to suck cold air in) because I don't want to lose the low-end torque due to hot air/heat soak, and I want to keep my intake temp in check. The car is at 32k miles.
Great buy!
Thanks! I'm very excited to start tinkering with this car too!
I have a b8 s5 convertible with 75000 miles. Transmission was replaced by Audi at 35000 miles. I’ve did longevity flash from tvs engineering at 68000 miles. Will watch after your updates.
I have 034 for my 3.0 SQ5. Last dyno I averaged 415whp using their unmodified 93 octane file. Their ZF8 TCU isn’t the greatest for my SQ5, but I believe for your DSG they are the top guys for that transmission tune. They also have great customer service, which I know is lacking with some of their competitors.
Thanks!
My B7 S 4 is at 200k and still going strong with regular maintenance. A7 on the way in December though...
I got a b7 s4 avant but i also want a b8.5 s4 or a b8.5 rs5 or b5 s4/rs4.. hard friggen choice....
Welcome in the S4 fam brother!
MILLTEK SPORT, UNITRONIC, AWE 🤷🏻♂️
Thanks!
I bought a 2010 s4 prestige fully loaded with 80000 miles on it and love it despite all the teething pains
I'm sure I'll love it too
As having a current APR everything s4 ultracharged with test pipes to a AWE touring exhaust. If I had to do it over again I would go with 034 tunes with the APR ultracharger as they don’t have a throttle body as of yet. If you’re planning to install test pipes I highly recommend something more quiet than AWE. There is a lot of drone that’s my only regret right now but besides that everything is great! (I daily drive mine as well)
Followed ya since the beginning good stuff man!
Thanks for the recommendations!
Highly recommend Integrated Engineering, def worth going dual pulley w/throttle body,a Fluidampr pulley which is a two piece and you can have any custom size from 183-207mm, once your dual pulley look towards either gutting the cats or test pipes(gutted cats have less rasp vs test pipes). Also plenty of companies out there for heat exchanger upgrades highly recommend Merc Racing and separate the cooling systems. IE hpfp or autotech recommend IE tho, 034 motor mounts and drivetrain bushings from 034. You can get plenty of content and you can easily get into the 11's
Very, very informative suggestions. Thank you very much!

Hey man that’s the main reason I got the B8.5, although the price on the B8 is cheaper the B8.5 being more will basically even out if the mech gives out in the B8 plus has some revised parts and who doesn’t like the facelift. In love with my front end mainly headlights 😊
I swear haters come just to dislike the videos. Bums. This is solid content 🔥
If I manage to gain more popularity and grow this channel into something significant I am SURE there will be a butt ton of haters a long the way. There are WAY too many miserable, unhappy people in this world that want to take others joy from them to bring them down to their shitty level.
Best route:
1. Test pipe are the first and most important of all mode due to catalytic converter falling apart to pieces and may destroying your engine.
2. Jhm 207mm instead of needing to install duel pulley and you get the same ratio with one pulley.
Also aliminate weak point of the nasty oem crank pulley.
3.IE fuel pump.
4. IE E40 tune and TCU tune
And you all set!
Wicked! Thanks for the suggestions!
Dud. Congrats on the new ride. 😊 I'd go with the APR dual pulley and ultracharger kit... 😊 👍
Thanks for the recommendation
Give Injen or Cobb tuning a go. Definitely give a Scorpion Exhausts a call and see what they can do for a B8 cos i know they had some mad B7 kits and definitely the first thing to go with is an upgraded inter-cooler, coil-packs and small/tighter supercharger belt. Instantly better throttle response and more mid range torque along with lower temps. These engines suffer with high ish engine temps when the supercharger is worked harder.
Thanks!
034 motorsports really supports this platform and are a good bang for buck
Thanks for the recommendation
Nice video! I've owned my B8 for about 2 months now, and damn do I enjoy driving it. I only heard about the mechatronic thing earlier today and then found your video here, which has admittedly resulted in a bit of angst. How would one know if the unit (and/or the circuit board) has been replaced?
Looking to get the IE ECU/DSG tune upgrades later this year and don't want to overload any components or cause preemptive wear.
If you Google the topic you will find the actual errors that show up on your dash with a circuit board fault. Just keep in mind a circuit board fix seems to be a temporary fix. Only by replacing the entire mech can you really see the whole issue be resolved from what I've read. We will be diving into this problem over the course of the next month on the channel
I plan on doing IE pretty much everything in the engine bay lol. PS sucks dude had all those things wrong. Glad you found most of it out before
Same here. We are constantly working out the kinks but so far, so good!

Following- looking forward to what lies ahead with your mods. Mine is a 8.5 Avant. Bought it with 146k kms 2 years ago, now on 190k. Major issues thus far, control arms, PCV due to mysterious coolant disappearing and currently in the shop to replace steering rack - due to CU stuffed😡. I’ve really enjoyed thus far. When I wanna do some manual shifting without any electrical nannies, I drive my RS2😊
What is a "stuffed CU"? I'm really excited to continue modifying this car too and continuing to go faster and faster.
@@VancityAudi sorry for replying in code🙈 the steering is electro mechanical assisted. There is a control unit that is attached to the rack. @@VancityAudi lucky you😊 mine is a total replacement, no repair possible 🙈 there goes modding money😞

look for the 034 motorsport trans mount, the jerkiness you described will be slightly reduces thanks to that, ECS also has some decent exterior pieces such as the frontlip, defuser & the duckspoiler, or maxton has a different spoiler design if i remember correctly, a RS honeycomb grill is also a must have, perhaps some bilstein or KW v2 coilovers (way better than a regular S suspension) and for the unfortunate peoples with Concert/symphony radio there is Tune2Air with AUDI MMI connection, plug & play for bluetooth
Thank you for the suggestions. The jerkiness is from a malfunctioning mech unit. It has nothing to do with the mounts. I do have some upgrades in mind though. Thanks for all the cosmetic suggestions but I think I'll be focusing on the performance side of things from here on out.
This is great! I just threw a rod through the block on my CC so I am in the market for a 3.0t either A6 or S4. I have done a ton of research on the 3.0t and I was leaning towards APR but now they are starting to pull there stage 2 software starting with the ea888 gen 1 to "better comply with EPA laws" - Cars and Cocktails. I am leaning towards 034, I have always gone with APR for all my my tuning but this whole pull back could mean seeing less power out of their tunes. Stage 1 across the board seems to be 440 crank and 450 for stage 2 for everyone. It really comes down to who you feel most comfortable with from a research and reliability stand point. I will definitely go dual pulley and possibly a jokerz 1320 ported charger a little further down the road. I'm looking forward to seeing what path you go down with your S4 so I can have your review before I start building mine!
I'll do my best to showcase some amazing tunes and performance parts
APR will remain the same with the 3.0T. EPA laws are only effecting vehicles with modied catalytic converters (ie downpipes), APR stage 2 for the S4 doesn't change the downpipes.
Peter Davies good to know! I wasn’t sure how hard the tune was in stock cats, I have read a lot about egts eating through the cats pretty quick once tuned leading a lot of owners to go for test pipes.
Hey man I know I’m 2 years late but what’d you end up going with and how do you like it? I also have a CC and my engine just blew at 133k miles last week lol what a coincidence, I also was looking at an a6 or s4 3.0T as it seems that’ll be the best upgrade to the ea888 platform while still paying a realistic cost and being more reliable.
@@Pallu420 I ended up getting a 2012 A6 with the 3.0t, right now it’s got the XLR8 196.5mm crank pulley and it’s on APRs stage 2 dual pulley tune and it rips for a daily driver.
Here are some of the best mods for the b8 series audis 034 shock top mounts
Engine mounts drivetrain mounts, trans mounts & trans rubber mount, h&r swaybars f&r and 034 endlinks, awe or ecs valved exhaust, modified air box or ie intake, merc cooler, jhm headers and catless resonated downpipe, rs grille, ecs carbon fiber diffuser, suspension bilstein pss, big brake kit revo alcon, stoptech st60 or RS5 brake kit

Revo rvo19” wheels are light and pretty, these suffer with drone. I tested 8 exhausts on mine looking for no drone. Scorpion red power won. With valved systems now that may not be an issue.

My B8 S5 3.0T used to stutter when I hit 100k, I ended up slapping a trans mount insert in while I was doing Coilovers and that seemed to take care of it. 10k later, haven’t experienced the stutter. It was also winter when it would happe .
Good to know! We know this is an actual problem with the mech though as it only happens in 2nd gear between 1200rpm and 1800rpm when driving slowly.
Going to look at a 2012 s4 tomorrow with 120k on it hopefully it doesn’t blow up on me too soon lol, that or a 2012 a6 3.0 with 63k idk which one to get yet
I had 2014 s4 before I bought rs3 wish I never got rid of it never broke ever
Glad to hear it. Here's to hoping once I get past these initial issues it'll be a problem free car.

I have a 2014 s4 and just had to replace the radiator mounts/heat exchanger as well. I broke it parking against the strip of concrete in front of the parking spot. When I got it on the lift I saw the one bar was completely missing from when I bought the car, and I had broke the other from catching on a screw. I’m also on air suspension so I’m probably quite a bit lower than a stock s4, but it seems they might be a weak point. If you do any extra modifications while fixing the radiator mounts to make it more protected please make a video
Will do, thanks for the suggestion
60K no issues at all with mine. Stage 1.5 ish... LOL Bought mine with only 3700mi, Chestnut interior on Glacier White Metallic. I have heard though, that past Stage 2 a lot of internals should be changed out. Anyways great channel and content as usual.
Thanks for watching.
The transmissions service on these cars doesnt amount to anything but a change in the outer filter and fluid. They dont replace the mechtronics unless they actually fail. Its not part of the service. And the service they do perform doesnt drop the pan or clean it out.
I don't stick with just one company i compare the products they offer to each other and then after much research pick a part from there that i think fits best and offers the best features... When it comes to tunes tho after probably 40 hours of research i've ended up a Unitronic for the 2 times i've had the option to make the choice.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Ouch! Bad luck my man, sorry to hear you got stung like that. I would definitely have looked for evidence of the DSG service intervals being carried out at each 35k miles. If there was nothing to show they had been done I would've walked straight away and never looked back. There are reports of B8 cars having done well over 150k on the original unit with just regular servicing alone. There is also talk of doing the internal filter change as well as the outer one during servicing to extend the life of the unit, makes sense as it can get clogged up. Not hard to do and it sits right next to the basic cylindrical one that gets done as part of the DSG service. Main difference is having to drop the trans pan and then using an OBD tool to measure live temps to ensure you refill at 40 degrees C. Check Deutsche Auto Parts vids for more details and DIY info. Lastly, the cheapest and easiest upgrade to take away any slop in the gear changes is an aluminium billet transmission insert. Takes longer to get the car up in the air than to fit it in!
Thanks! We have a bunch of fun mods and repairs on this car planned so stay tuned to check them all out
How intense was/is the jerking when accelerating? It seems my DSG S4 gets a little confused sometimes and you can almost feel the clutches slightly disengaging/reengaging at the wrong times. This could just be stock DSG being silly. It's actually pretty unnoticeable, so I was wondering how aggressive your bucking is?
Also, when I plan on tuning my S4, I am going with 034 no doubt. Their TCU tune for the DSG transmission is so crisp, they are still heavily focusing on the B8/8.5 platform coming out with cool new features, and their ECU tune offers pretty much the same as IE. With your plans, I'd suggest 034. If someone wants a little more oomph out of their daily S4, both 034 or IE would be fine.
Mine is extremely noticeable. It only happens in 2nd gear from around 1100 to 1700rpm when driving slowly. Thanks for the 034 recommendation. I've already went with IE though.
Welcome to the B8 club 🙌
Thanks!
Sucks you have all these issues. Suck it up and fix her up, don't let it get you down (doesn't appear it has). GL MAN
Thank you very much. I am doing my best to stay positive and know that once these issues are sorted out, my ride will be ready to rock.
I have a B9 S4, but I have wondered why the supercharged S4's have the V6T badge. Never took the time to look into it. I thought the owners just put that badging on there until you mentioned it ha. Why do they have a V6T badge?
a transmission service does not mean the mechatronic unit was replaced. it means the fluid and filters were changed. huge difference.
I am aware. I simply used that terminology for the video. I explain after that it was the circuit board that was replaced when I read the invoice.
Damn shoulda got a sports diff!!! Lol! Does the car have a trans insert? That helped me out with a lot of the slop in the trans. Also a DSG tune helped with the way the trans felt when taking off from a slow roll. I say go IE!!
The car is completely stock. Thanks for the advice.

Thanks for the recommendation but I'm carving my own path. I will never simply do what others have done before me. That takes every drop of fun out of the build in my opinion
034 or Unitronics seems to be the most reliable from what I've read and seen, dual pulley, merc cooler, cts open filter intake, polo exhaust.

I have a 2013 Audi S4 64,000 miles and not one problem. Best car I’ve ever had
Yours is a B8.5, not a B8 like mine. Your car is much less prone to issues than my model year is. Happy to hear it has been running well for you!
I don't know if ABT exists in Canada but in Germany (and Europe) they are what AMG once was for Mercedes. Today they modify and sell new Audis adding an extra -R to the RS models. Might be an idea.
Thanks
Well this engine is a tfsi. The T in V6 T is for Tfsi or audis way of saying "Forced induction"
Also with the titanium package they changed it to "Supercharged" On the side instead of V6T :)
From the lower mainland. Friend had an S4. I want an S4
If you have the dough, get into a B9 S4, not a B8 S4.
My b8.5 jerks like that too 🤔 I have ie stage 1 and cold air intake. It’s quick but it does they jerk and now I’m noticing a little hesitation on top end 🤷🏽♂️ like a sputter
Better log your car then. My car does none of that anymore since I've tuned it.
I definitely LOVE Integrated Engineering because of their amazing customer support and relatively cheaper parts but the same and if not better quality. for crank pulley I went with JHM 207mm so I can have minimal belt slip since i’m keeping the stock supercharger pulley and have the correct ratio for a dual pulley setup. MercRacing is a great option for heat exchangers, which is required when going dual pulley. I suggest gutting the cats and reinforcing the welds for no drone or going with full blown headers, if you want to keep cats then I would put them downstream (JHM has a catted downpipe) or have a custom high flow welded in the downpipe section. I’m not familiar with S4 with their rear mufflers having valves but the center suitcase muffler is definitely better for increased volume and still keeping it muffled from the rear mufflers for no drone. IE’s upgraded fuel pump is better than AutoTech, from quality and output standpoints along with their upgraded throttle body compared to APR. Jokerz porting job is probably amongst the best. That’s all the ones I could think out the top of my head but I am constantly researching on what type of parts I should go with for my personal taste for my A6
EDIT: I stand by Integrated Engineering because they have enormous amounts of R&D, supremely helpful customer support team, release updates to tunes frequently, easy to use flash program that is used from home, I live in Utah and they’re down the street from me whenever I have some things I want added to my tune and such and they go through the R&D to make sure it’s safe for it to be added. Overall just an amazing company
Thank you very much for the recommendations and insight.

I would hunted heaven and earth for a manual. Would of took forever but I have a B8 A4 manual and I love it but thought about upgrading to S4 recently. So many Autos though and It was like the first generation of the DSG and I haven't driven one yet but I think the later gen DSG (RS3) are much better for an auto.
The DQ500 transmission found in my RS3 is on another level of performance compared to the DSG found in my B8
I Have IE on my 3.0 A6 so I'm a little biased but I can't recommend IE enough. I do hear 034 is coming out with some interesting stuff for the platform as well.

Vancity Audi anytime if you want to make some big power , do the dual pulley upgrade , ultra charger, DSG tune, and a ported supercharger from jokerz performance. You will not be disappointed. Local b8 made 530whp on 100 octane
Very impressive!
I want to get a B8.5 S4 within the next year and a half. Not sure how I'd pull it off as a college student though

I have a IE dual pulley 2011 S4 and I'm in the greater Vancouver area if you want to take it for a drive to see how it stacks up if you're shopping for tunes. I also grenaded my front dif and had to replace my entire transmission so I have a used transmission with a working core that shifted and drove fine aside from the differential damage if you're looking for a local used mechatronics unit on the cheap, hit me up.
Hello fellow Vancouverite! Is that the original mech in your broken transmission? Or was it already fixed and how many km on it?
@@VancityAudi It is the original. The previous owner had an issue with it and had it repaired but I made the same mistake and assumed it was the mechatronics unit only to find out it was a different problem after I bought it. The transmission was replaced at 115k km. I know, not the greatest offer in the world but I had zero issues with shifting prior to the front diff failure. @@VancityAudi Drag racing yes but anyone can go fast in a straight line. I find track racing more fun. :) Good luck with the build. Hope you get the tranny fixed!
@@joyroc885 lol. Anyone can drive around a track as well. There are specifics and techniques when dealing with builds for both of those motorsports. I enjoy both but excel more at drag racing (and it's cheaper). Thank you for watching and for your support!
if you want slow and reliable and SLOW. go EPL.I ran a 034 b8 a few weeks ago at the track with my b8.5 stage2 EPL,DP,METH. my cats were going bad but nonetheless. He didn’t have launch control yet . His time was 12.01 vs 12.3 . I went with EPL because I thought I can save money and bought it second hand. but I regret my decision. go with 034, or IE.
Thanks for the recommendation
But what tune was the 034 car running? What were your reaction times and trap speed? Not really fair to trash EPL when your cats were failing.
@@justin7080 I can get the trapspeed if you like. I didn’t badmouth EPL, I have had their tune for 3 years and its okay. it sure isn’t the fastest nor is it the most aggressive out there. My best time on DP setup on a 700DA, 40 degree weather A 1.6 0-60 was a 12.1 . Some s4 are breaking into 10s with a ported blower & throttle body. All I was saying is 034 is a very good option.
@@michaelf2671 gotcha, thanks for clarifying.
The T on the badge doesn't stand for turbo. It just means the car has forced induction.
If you had good service and experience with Unitronic for your RS3... Why not stick with them for the S4? They're Canadien too, eh!
Definitely would not do unitronic on this platform. They basically won’t support it. I tried working with them for over a year to get my car to run right. Wasted tons of money and time with them just to eventually spend it all over again swapping to 034 motorsports. I would highly recommend 034 or IE since they still work with this platform daily.
Thank you for the recommendation
Vancity Audi you bet! Funny because I have one of your stickers from a car show in Tacoma wa. I didn’t put two and two together until I saw your logo. Small world👍
It’s because you bought a damn B8! At the very least I’d have gone B8.5 since that facelift 1) fixed the Jetta look and 2) they fixed a lot of the issues that plagued that platform. I know, you said cost but u should’ve waited, fathered the extra funds and got the B8.5. Only way way that’ll be a cool car in today’s era is if it was lowered, fancy multi-piece wheels and a Vader S4 style exhaust (look up “Vader s4” if you don’t know that famous s4)
My interpretation of "cool" I see being MUCH different than yours. Different strokes for different folks. Plus, I couldn't have waited any longer. There is no way I am daily driving a race car with a roll cage 5 days a week with our HORRIFIC drivers in the Lower Mainland. It isn't worth it.
Vast performance 2.3L whipple kit and custom tuning. Less off the shelf, more custom
Thanks!
the whipple kit I believe is still in development. Expecting to run 9’s
So does the 2013 s4 consider a 8.5 ? And will it have the dsg issue trans issue ??? I’m trying to get one
That's an 8.5 and is less likely to have these issues. With that said, in general they say that 2014's and newer are much less likely to have that problem.
Is that full stock exhaust? .. oh and btw maybe all ur mech unit needs is the rebuild kit( harness)
Yes, the car is completely stock. The rebuild kit repairs the control board which was already replaced by Audi 😪
I think a good start would be to push it to 400-450 hp at first, something like revo would be a good choice I think. As for some cosmetics, I think a pair of HRE wheels would look good on it, perhaps P106's or P107's
Thank you very much for the suggestions!
I have a 2012 audi s4.. 88,000 miles on it.. Thought about selling it lol but one of the most amazing cars I've ever driven
You need to experience some newer cars then, lol. As much as I had fun in my B8, there are WAY better driving experiences out there.
Lol I have driven newer cars before but It isn't fun having no traction and all that power.. Everyone and there mother has camaro, charger and challenger.. But I believe with the right amount of power the audi with smoke those all day! I only lose when we hit about 5th or 6th gear but from jump those cars are dust.. But I can drive all weather compared to the rear wheelers gotta have sunshine.. And they have all that power with no control..but of course there are more vehicles out there that are fun but this is my first like owned sports car if that's what it is considered.. I'd like to try out an RS4
@@cameronwillis2985 I never said drive a shitty domestic, lol. I meant a newer Euro. There are a shit ton of newer cars that have more power, more traction, are more comfortable and more features than a B8 S4.
I plan to dabble more in them after this one.. What are some other euro options and did you after put in a screen for your B8?
@@cameronwillis2985 not sure what you mean by "putting after in a screen"? The new Audi B9 S4 is what I have now and is looking to be a vastly superior car. I've been in new M cars and they drive way nice than my B8 every did. The new Mercs with the 4.0 TT V8's are all nicer than the B8 S4's as well.
Coming from a Lexus IS I really want one of these but the maintenance/reliability is scaring the bajesus out of me lol! How much am in for?
So far I have replaced the battery for $150 and the mechatronic replacement will probably be 5k after all is said and done. Grab a 2013 or newer, or one with a mechatronic that has already been replaced.
My Pcv or head gasket just went on mine engine might be toast I will find out this week 😒 owned my b8 s4 for two years no problems I’m pissed
Sorry to hear that!
I thought about getting the s4, but it seems like it will be a money pit after a while.
Dual pulley and bigger throttle body / intercooler should give you 500 hp :) i will do dual pulley at least.
DEFINETELY dual pulleys and 034 is the better tune as a general opinion... APR is also very solid and a common trend but most guys who truly drive them all the time 034 seems to be much preffered.
Or IE
Is 100k mikes too much for a 2012 s4 they want 15k for it I have an a4 09 prestige in very good shape it just reached 100k miles I know if I put money into the a4 it would be soo clean but I want an s4 what mileage should I go for
I go by the rule of no more than 20,000km a year when buying a used car. My 2012 had 104,000km when I bought it so I was well within that number.
I’m looking to buy a b8 s4 2010 170000 kms, what problems should I look for and is 13000 overpaying
Sadly there are a laundry list of things to look for with B8 S4's. I personally wouldn't buy a 2010 because the early model 2010's didn't have launch control. They also pretty much all suffer from shitty mechatronic transmission issues. I have no idea if $13,000 is overpaying because I know no details on the car other than the year and the km's.
yeah older than 5 years audi forget it, i predict youll have a lot of issues especially if you mod.. hope im wrong. id like to see a full 034 handling build impressions
Thank you
Not true .. my 2013 S4 has been completely reliable.
Reliability issues come with every heavily used and abused sports car regardless of make
Shit my b7 s4 avant is a runner.. tut he 4.2 v8 with mods loves to rev.
Awe track exhaust
034 or IE tune
Thanks!
You should definitely return the rs3 to stock and make this your race car. Custom carbon fiber moon roof delete, gut the interior, sell everything, take the car down to 3000pds, than go stage 3 dual pulley ie tune + dsg tune using that money. Perfectly financially responsible fun.
That would be the dumbest thing ever, lmao. This S4 will NEVER be as fast as my RS3 is or will be
@@VancityAudi Yeah, maintaining a $50,000 investment is definitely stupid. Lol, way more important to go faster. Got it. Meanwhile, here in reality, you can build a 9 second 1/4 mile car for $20k if you're thrifty. And an s4 completely gutted and tuned would almost certainly be as fast as your rs3, but you're in too deep to justify the decisions. I think its smarter (and cheaper) to race car out the cheap car, and maintain the nice expensive car (so it maintains its value) and is therefore cheaper long term, and you can justify more projects for yt and that additional revenue stream. Im no stranger to bad financial decisions btw. I spent something like 10k modifying my 29k brz only to run high 14s and trade it in for $14k worth of value for the baby safe car. You know full well every penny spent on a modified car is a loss if for any reason you ever decide to sell it. The only project I've 'almost' broken even on was a 97 civic k20a swap selling for $9500, and even than I lost like 3k considering suspension, interior, wheels/tires, niceties like ac & ps. Lost 4k on a 08 gsxr 600 too. And my 16 Sierra was a financial trainwreck im queasy even mentioning. As someone who openly fucks up financially with this hobby just as you described yourself doing, I know what I suggested you do.. is the correct move. Do you though.
@@Bytrl LMFAO. You might want to educate yourself on how fast B8 S4's are compared to RS3's before you spout off more stupidity that makes ZERO sense LOL
@@VancityAudi jeeze dude. You act as if I'm shitting on your rs3, or even debating whats faster in practice or theory. Im merely stating facts in regards to what is, and isn't financially responsible assuming you're not filthy rich. If you build cars because you love the projects themselves (which I've given you the benefit of the doubt in assuming), than NOTHING is more fun, or financially responsible, than building a beast of a 'budget' car for race days, and not burn excessive money by starting with an expensive platform. Maybe you don't do you're own work though, so it wouldn't matter. Don't know, and it doesn't matter in regards to anything I said. Moving on, how the fuck do you know what is or isnt possible on the s4 platform when virtually noone has stripped one down to bare bones, installed lexan, built the motor, and tried? Hate to break it to you, but the s4 has an extra cylinder, and all that matters when you're racing is power to weight. You have zero reason to assume the s4 (or any car for that matter) couldn't be as fast as your rs3 other than the refusal to admit you started with the wrong car if money matters to you at all. Literally nothing about the rs3 that you paid extra for.. is even there anymore. And noones judging you. The car is sick, but the facts remain. Either you have fuck you money, or you care more about what people think, than actually enjoying the hobby. Your defensiveness tells me it's probably something that bothers you when the camera is off. Do you man, noone cares.
@@Bytrl First off, I don't think you're shitting on my RS3 at all. Let's be real though. Modifying a car into a racecar is financially irresponsible any way you look at it, lol. You are just depreciating your asset more and more as you dump in more and more money. It is just a financially irresponsible hobby unless you are ballin' out of control... which I am not. So any way you look at it, what I'm doing with either one of my cars is stupid of me, lol
As for your thoughts that no one has stripped an S4 and gone all out. You seriously need to do your research like I have already mentioned. You appear to have no idea what you're talking about. The WORLD'S FASTEST B8.5 S4 runs a 10.2. Stripped out, full mods, drag prepped. The world's fastest RS3 runs an 8.0, LMFAO. There is no comparison and no logical reason to change my S4 into a racecar and put my RS3 back to my daily driver. My RS3 is already gutted, has a rollcage and running 9.3's. My S4 has a full interior and cruises on the freeway like a Caddy, LOL. I'm good.
Thanks for watching my video and commenting but I strongly disagree with your viewpoint. Cheers
Adam: I'm buying a new daily driver!
Also Adam: SO WE'RE TAKING IT TO THE TRACK WITH LOTS OF MODS
You're the best dude.
Daily driver's should be driven on the track too. Ya know, for research and reliability purposes...
Thanks for the additional input!
So his s4 is a 2012 s4 ? That comes with a b8 . Does the 2013+ have the b8.5? Are those dsg better .. I really want this one 54k miles 2013 around 18k but trying 16k worth it ? Or look for a manual
The 2013's are significantly less prone to having issues with their transmissions vs a 2010-2012. If you can get into an even newer one though like a 2014 and newer you'd be even more better off. Manuals are amazing to drive, but are slower.
@@VancityAudi I’ll keep looking and wait for a 2014+ thank you , would pcv, water pump , thermostat , valve gaskets still all fail ?
@@jketphanh22 not necessarily, but certainly items to keep an eye on
I'd say first thing fix all bodywork and fresh paint with ceramic coating.... after is all pretty start the MODS
lol, you and I are complete opposites. I will be adding power before I fix the cosmetic stuff, lol. Can't stand driving a slow car, but I can handle driving an ugly one.

I’m in the market for one in Vancouver how much did you get it for?
Keep in mind, mine is busted up and broken. I got mine for 12k. The average when I was looking was between 15k to 20k though.
