Why I SOLD my Triumph TRIDENT after only 5 MONTHS (a new record)

  • After all the good things I said about the Triumph Trident, I've sold it! The reasons are quite rational, however, as I explain in this 10th and final chapter on my 2021 660 :)

Tbh, I’d probably go for the Hornet now. It’s the most modern and most fun to ride, and very good in terms of maintenance & reliability. If you can live with the uninspiring looks🤔 I like the idea if the Rebel 1100, but I’m not a fan of the engine or DCT gearbox.

Hello RocketMan. I am from India. Here the cb650r costs $14500 while the trident is $12000. I found both very easy bikes for heavy traffic use. Am 5’10” with short inseam but bulky body. Please advise which of these two is a better everyday bike with occasional long trips? I disliked the feel on z900. I dont believe the will really do it in production factory, but most likely this sounds like a cost free change at the dealer at day one. In portugal the wether may be close to ok for the Racetec, but consider, if you dont give those tires the full beans all the time, on just cosy riding around they wont reach optimal operating temperature.

I did actually re-test ride the Forza 350 last week, but realised it's too big and cumbersome for what we need from a scooter. The goldwing seems like a really steady two-wheeled couch for long distance touring with it's highly praised smooth engine and it would probably be the absolute favorite for Mrs. RocketLady to tag along; t I don't know if that's what you are going for - it is also a mammoth of a motorcycle for my modest proportions :)
Royal Enfield have been getting seemingly better in the last few years and are light both on the scale and bank account, so I'd go there, but none of their current offering covers your alleged need for 80/100+ bhp and the devaluation rate on these brands is typically more punishing.

They are very tempting now that they've jazzed up the front end a bit. Those ancient looking forks and rubber gaiter were terrible. Get one :)

Thumbs up for the video. But I can't help but think there must be an easier way to provide content. Having said that if you can do it that's great. And I look forward to seeing what's next.

Sad that you sold it but, I understand. If I had a motorcycle channel that was doing as well as yours, I would use the ad proceeds to keep the bike rotation going. I plan to keep my Trident for awhile. My wife is talking about getting a motorcycle license. If she does, she will get the trident and I will upgrade. If not, I may upgrade to something with a little more power in a few years. Cheers.

Interesting. I would definitely have kept the Trident if I didn't have this channel to maintain. I think/hope you will approve of the replacement, coming in 4 weeks :)

I’m thinking of selling my trident for the new speed twin. The old one was good but a bit lacking on the suspension , the new one should be better. As for what you are going to buy next, I think it will be something totally different. How about a zero!

I don’t like the black end caps at the end of the silencers at all. Wish Triumph had kept the entire exhaust with the same finish. Maybe there could be some solution to that. That and maybe a tail tidy to complete the look.
What is your view on this?
