"Seat material feels like a thick condom" 😂😂
I thought it was an accurate, if unfortunate description😬
The new aftermarket Featherlight cover gives an alternative. 😀
@@artb4700 The flavoured seats could be interesting.
Makes for a ‘safe ride’ 😁
Does that mean you don't "feel" anything when riding? hahaha
What a great, smooth and easy listening narrative. I watched it the whole way through! Now I want one!
Thank you. It is a great bike, even if I have now sold it :)
If only more CZcamsrs spoke in a calm manner as you do, the overly enthusiastic bike reviews are growing old quickly!
Currently looking into the Trident and found your reviews very informative. Thanks a lot and keep up the great work. PS, subscribed.
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement, Russ. FYI, I have now sold the Trident and bought a Speed Twin, but the Trident is the best option in its category, imo. I have just recommended my son buy one as his first bike :)
Waiting on my bike delivery here in Wisconsin and your videos have been really helpful. Tank bag and TEC levers are waiting for install. Great mature video coverage of the Trident!
Great to know you've found my videos useful. You won't be disappointed, it's a great bike. And good call on the bag & levers :)
The narration is so good. The best one in a bike review ive ever seen
Thank you for your kind words of encouragement :)
I rode my friend’s 2018 street triple R, where he adjusted the suspension for comfort. It was very compliant for the street. My point is that your comment for street triple being firm out of the box is true, but it is adjustable for your personal weight and conditions. Thanks, I enjoyed the review.
Thanks for that, Yakov. I am looking at alternative rear shocks for the Trident at the moment. The Nitron setup looks good.
I rode my Trident on the german Autobahn at about 180 for a couple of hundred meters and obviously the wind blows hard, but it is very manageable. Also, I really like the plate holder because it keeps the tails nice and slick but I agree on the indicators.
I agree the wind blast is manageable. I'm looking forward to seeing what ideas people come up with for the plate/indicators. Ride safe :)
Watched this again, too. 80 BHP is enough for me. It would be the perfect bike for Thailand. I like the red highlights. Ditto the swingarm-mounted registration plate. Nick
I went for a test-drive on a Trident yesterday here in Lisbon.
Such a step-up from the CB500X and now, my standards are polluted.
The only negative I was able to spot was the suspensions' stiffness which is probably there to enable a more sportive experience on twisty roads.
I got the impression it has a tad more power than I can currently handle.
Cheers
I can imagine that the Trident's suspension did feel very firm to you, but this is as much down to the very soft setup on the CB500X. The Trident is much more fun, but the CB is more of an all-rounder :)
Still running mine in and despite this it brings a smile to my face. Fitted a fender and hugger extender. Also a small rubber extender on the fender extender to stop crap being thrown into the radiator. Also a rear shock sock that keep it all clean. Handles well and break just fine for me.
Yep, it's a great bike. Dry roads and dust here, tbh, so I don't have to worry too much about protection :) Enjoy!
I have orderen the Trident, will arrive probably on april. I also listened to all your comments about this bike so far. and I would like to tell your information was right on the spot. I learned more then I needed about the bike. Thanks alot for the hard work you did for us. Now I know I did the right choice on buying this bike.
Thank you for that. You may have seen that I have now sold the Trident in favour of a Speed Twin, but the Trident was one of the best bikes I have owned. Excellent value for money and great fun. Enjoy :)
You lucky Sod. I got mine 4 weeks ago, rode it home in the pi**ing rain, and I've managed to cover 220 miles because the UK weather is pants! I'll not get to run it in for months at this rate. However, I love it and can see a long and enjoyable future with it.
Lol, sorry! I've been watching the weather in the UK - and hearing from my sister on the phone about how depressing it is. If it's any consolation, we had a pretty crappy winter down here and things only really began to brighten up at the beginning of May :)
Finally, after a long wait, getting mine tomorrow morning. Sad thing that I can't take the day off. Great review. My other bike is a 2014 Bonnie SE, so for the power side I will be fully satisfied I guess.
That's great news, Michel. Yes, I think compared to your Bonnie you will certainly feel a difference. The Trident definitely isn't underpowered, but it would be nice, just on occasion, to have a boost button. Enjoy your bike tomorrow :)
I can confirm that Michelin's Road 5 works superbly in the rain. I have them fitted to both my Street Triple R and my Aprilia Caponord, and although there is a big weight difference between the bikes (STR 190 kg, AC 245 kg), both handle perfectly in both wet and dry conditions on the Road 5s.
Last year, I rode through torrential rain in France on my Aprilia and I never experienced any slipping or sliding. 👍
Good to hear. Thanks for confirming :)
You make such nice and simple videos, it's so refreshing. I pretty much agree with everything you say, except that I happen to like the red highlights. Well, beauty/beholder. There's only thing I would definately change, and they are the rear indicators. Since they're on the tire hugger, they seem to stick out to much. Discrete ones like the DENALI LED Micro Indicators may look better. That's definately on my list of mods when I get mine.
Thank you. I agree that, if they had at least put the indicators up under the seat, then maybe the rear hugger thing wouldn't have looked quite so ugly. I'm sure some better alternatives will be out soon :)
I think you can make an argument to buy this just for the exhaust. It may be one of the best sounding machines I've ever heard.
I agree… although the Speed Twin I have now is even better😊
@@RocketMan_Moto👌👌
I got mine yesterday, looking forward to getting a decent run, I see what you mean about the seat, after market cover maybe. Loving the views in Portugal!
Lol, I quite like the seat cover. I thought it would tear easily, but so far it has proven very resilient... except for the mysterious stains, lol :)
Get the DNK tune. It will open the motor up and it will be noticeable. And the Zard full exhaust is the way to go. And lastly the Nitron aftermarket suspension is highly recommended.
I'm not a fan of 'messing' with a bike (or car) engine, tbh. Immaterial now anyway, as I sold the Trident and now have a Speed Twin 1200. Ride safe :)
DNK tune are excellent!
Not a fan of the speed twin. Good luck with the new bike.
👍@@RocketMan_Moto
Again. Another good logic and common sense based vid 😀
Thank you, Chris :)
Thanks. For me these days it’s mostly down to the engine (triple or twin) and final drive (shaft or chain/belt). Also pillion/passenger capacity. I tend to be brand loyal, but sadly I have swapped from the Triumph brand as they no longer make the bike I want/need. Thanks for you reviews which i enjoy.
Thank you, Pete. I understand your gripes, hope you enjoy your new bike :)
I was really confused if I should take this over the street triple. Looks like I’ve finally made my decision, gonna book the trident in the coming week. Much thanks from India!
You're welcome. The Trident is a better all-round bike than the Street Triple, imo. Have you seen the comparison video I did?
czcams.com/video/MF9xixBVsk8/video.html
Passed 1300 miles on the odometer last weekend! Loving it more and more as I get comfortable with it.
Haven’t grabbed any accessories yet but already have a list 😂
The Trident has grown on me, too. Having a list of 'unnecessary stuff to buy' is one of life's pleasures :)
@RocketMan Accessorizing is every man's duty when it comes to his toys and must haves...right?! :D
I just found your channel and I am really enjoying it. I make vlogs on the several Triumphs I own as well. I appreciate that you include US conversions when listing specs. Thanks for that.
Thank you for that. I do try to include the various conversions, but sometimes I do forget :)
It's an unpopular opinion, but I'm a fan of the number plate position. Love it on the diavel and cb1000r
Fair enough👍😊
@RocketMan_Moto placed a deposite on a 2022 trident just today. White one
just wanna say I love your videos. they helped me decide to pull the trigger on the trident and it's been such a blast. not a single regret.
Phew, imagine if you'd said my videos were all nonsense and that you were really disappointed in the Trident, lol! Glad you agree with me, keep enjoying :)
Great video, exactly what I was looking for.
Glad you found it useful :)
Agree with the ugly dash screws, get a flyscreen looks nice 👌🏻
Have my trident for 2 months now. Dealer said the quick shifter was a needless gimmick. I got heated grips, tank sliders, pillion handles and am looking to get those nice round mirrors. Enjoy, drive safe!
Needless gimmick? First time I’ve heard that. A quick shifter is a must, imo😳
On the brakes: if you decide you want to keep this bike for a long time and want to sort the brakes out I belive there is now brake kit for the trident 660 from british legends in France that replaces the stock brakes some with twin 320mm disks in the front and a 255mm disk in the rear and brembo 4 pot calipers all around. It's about 1900 euros for the full kit or 1400 for the front kit only. Might be a bit overkill for the Trident, but it's always nice to have the option. Greetings from Aveiro!
Thanks for that, very interesting. It's expensive, though :(
At 7,000 RPM, you can downshift one gear for more acceleration as the redline is 10,250 RPM, more so as you have the quick-shifter option.
True, although I always prefer riding on torque rather than revs :)
@@RocketMan_Moto : For riding, I agree, but you mentioned the rare need for added passing acceleration.
Ah, I see what you mean - yes, now my Trident has been properly run in, I can begin to give it some more revs. I've also read that if you turn the traction control off, the bike 'comes alive' - need to try that! :)
Hey there from northern Portugal! Deciding between a Trident aand a street triple R 765... Perfect video
Obrigado, Rodrigo. Both are good bikes, but the ST R is definitely the sportier of the two :)
As always a review worth watching, and yes you still remind me of BBC childrens TV narrators such as Oliver Postgate. Anyway, though I love my Ninja 1000SX I know what you mean about thinking about the next bike and I still regret selling my STriple but dont miss the aching back and sore wrists. Keep the updates coming and yes do keep reminding us back home just how great the weather is there....
Haha, thanks Bob :)
If you get a Tune form DNK, the muted throttle goes away. 1 to 1 throttle response. it becomes a different beast~! I am def considering the quick shifter. SOunds lovely!
It’s a must have👍
Perfect road for such a fabulous bike!!
I have ridden that road on a scooter with my wife on the back and loved it.
Great review as usual and good for you that you have bonded so well with the Mighty T.
Ride safe and keep em coming.

Thanks, Steve. Wow, tackling the back roads of Monchique on a scooter must have been quite an adventure, especially 2 up. What size engine was it?

Ok, so on my 6th bike in a year and a half! Just ordered a Trident for Paris in lieu of my Fantic 500 Scrambler. I really enjoyed the test ride but found the lag on the acceleration a little annoying. One thing no one mentions is that Triumph seems to be the obnly manufactuer that puts the horn in a reachable place without removing your hands from the clutch. Looking forward to delivery in early May and hope to keep it for a little longer than the others😂
Haha, I know the feeling, Tony... The Trident is a great bike and should be a considerable step-up from the Fantic (which, admittedly, I have yet to try). Hope you enjoy it :)
Try covering the radiator cowl and the entire front mud guard with matte black vinyl wrap like u did to cover the red sticker, I think it would look more subtle and will suit the bike. The silver is looking a bit off and odd. Just a suggestion.
I tried wrapping the red cowls before I ordered the silver ones, but didn’t like them. Taste is a very personal thing😊
Done 1500 miles in wet and dry. Bike is absolutely brilliant. Quick shifter is a blast , makes you go up and down the box just for the hell of it. Road and Rain settings , that is a mystery. You can set Road mode and also accidentally change TC and Map to rain. These stay on until you remember to reset to default.🤔
Also fitted OE bar end mirrors and no problem filtering. They look a lot nicer than the big wing mirrors. Fitted a pyramid extends fenda on front , this has kept the rad clean. Also found the swing arm cover plate caps come off easily to enable an Abba Stand to be used. I also found the suspension has settled and the feeling back through the seat is not so violent🤣
Nice mods there. I agree the suspension does feel better over time, but maybe this is just us getting used to the firmness?? I agree the QS is awesome :)
I have watch some of yours vidéo 👍
I will probably buy a Trident soon...I have test one and love it😀 A lot more nimble than my beauty Thunderbird 900...I will probably leave her for the Trident...
Even if I know than you have change for another one 😉
Your videos are always clear and instructive and what a spot 🤩 Just want to put my wheels one day in southern Portugal 😀 Even if I have lovely roads at home, I m in France , at the feet of Pyrenees and near of Basque Country 😉
And in some vidéos you speek a very good french 👍
Thank's for your videos 👏
Thanks for your kind words, Cedric. The Trident is one of the best bikes I have owned, and certainly one of the best in its category, imo. You won't be disappointed :)
@@RocketMan_Moto , I go to the Triumph shop wednesday...perhaps I will see Santa Claus...😉
I've been looking at alot of naked sport type bikes and as far as looks imo this bike is the best looking I've seen. Like you my only concern is the low power ratings of the motor. This bike with the speed triple motor would be sweet.
Oh yes!👍
I'm right over 400 miles on mine and am quite pleased with it. I am glad the flashing tach has moved up to 5k (at 300 miles). I like that I can be down in the revs (3.5k or so) and it will pull nicely when you open the throttle without having to downshift when in town. I don't plan on modding it in any way. Tail bag is coming soon, but that's about it. And I like the rear plate mount/fender. In fact, I don't even notice it when I'm riding. An updated or optional throttle map to help with the tip-in muddiness would be good.
Sounds as though you're enjoying your Trident. Great bike and I agree it really doesn't need many modifications :)
I finally got mine! Got it last Friday. So far I'm really enjoying it. I'm amazed by how nimble the thing is.
I have 2 gripes.
1. I come from a cruiser background so this style of bike is new to me. I find when I brake, my weight gets shifted to my wrists. I have to constantly remind myself to really hug the tank with my legs. That seems to help.
2. I find the seat very uncomfortable. The ergonomics of the bike is very comfortable, but the seat feels like a wooden plank.
Then again, I have a really boney butt so I'm sure that doesn't help.
Haha, the seat isn't amazing, but I've known a lot worse. As for the riding position, if you're coming from a cruiser, I get the weight on the wrists problem. Hopefully, there will be some nice knee grips coming out from people like TechSpec soon :)
As rocketman said, def keep an eye out for some decent tank grips. Makes all the difference helping with your legs grabbing the tank.
Nice report. Hopefully getting mine earlier than anticipated - very much looking forward to it.
Thanks. Fingers crossed yours arrives sooner rather than later🤞😊
I just checked on Ebay. The kit for the trident is called - Fender eliminator side Triumph Trident 660. It is from a town called Ecully in France They don't mention the name of the company on Ebay. The price is 465.64 in Canadian Dollars. Free shipping included
Ooh, I'll check that out - thanks. Tbh, though, I still can't decide whether to do the tail tidy mod or not. Since I rode the Speed Triple last week and now that Triumph have announced the new binged-up Speed Twin, I may decide to part ex' the Trident in the autumn, good as it is :)
Just picked up mine this week. It is gorgeous and I feel so spoiled since it is my first motorcycle. Will keep it for a while
I agree, it's a keeper. Enjoy :)
Great video. Yes the seat is a little strange from a material and marking standpoint. But I find it comfortable.
Yes, it's comfortable enough, just a bit odd to the touch, lol :)
I have riding bikes for 35 years and wonder why they never get brakes who could STOP the bike faster than today without using only the front or rear brakes or mix it together. The most perfect brakes was the Dual Brake System on a Honda Blackbird. Worked just GREAT. My front Street Triple brakes are great but the rear brakes are just like they use to work, slooow, slooow we brake down in this world and by that i usually never use that rear brake.
I have never really understood why linked brakes aren't available on more bikes.
Thinking about replacing my KTM 390 Duke with one of these but in the all black which doesn't have the red bits and looks far better to me. Nice 3 month review.
Thanks, Paul. Taste is a very personal thing. Personally, I'd worry about the decal on the matte black :)
Enjoyable and thorough review💯👍🏽 From across the pond, well done mate!🦾🔥🏍🇺🇸
Thank you, James :)
The most beautiful bike on the market... but I still have to decide what kind of riding I want/will do. In my opinion the trident is perfect for commuting and/or a weekend escape. For longer rides I don´t know. Waiting on Triumph for aftermarket options (saddlebags). At the moment I have a Honda CB500F and still enjoying it, learned to ride and did my License Test with this bike. Overtaking is the big question with this Honda... (I ride a lot on mountain roads). But if I keep watching your videos... I will probably buy the Trident... next year:))))
As you probably know, I had the CB500X a couple of years ago. Lovely bike, but not enough power for me. The Trident hits the sweet spot, imo😊
Nicely narrated and valuable informationen for casual riders
I try to make it real😊
After receiving from the dealer, at the house I noticed a small oil leak at the oil filter, but after tightening and decreasing everything is now dry. And the left mirror was not tightened normally. At the first gas station, I drove 245 km before the low fuel level warning. And I installed a radiator protection from evotech-performance.
These should have been picked up during the pre-delivery inspection :( I had a similar experience a couple of weeks ago when I took delivery of my Honda Grom - very poor.
I had also small leak from one of the screws. This was not a oil from engine it self but rather trapped oil from production line under the screw and released by the heat of the engine. After 3 drives it disappeared and never showed again. That was 2 months ago.
Disappointing. Enjoy your bike now that it seems to be working🤞😊
Great review. As someone who got back to motorcyling under a year ago and has already chaged twice (Ducati Scrambler - Triumph Tiger 900 GT PRO - BMW 1250GS) and am thinking of test driving a Street Triple or a Trident, I know exactly what you mean😂 I live in the Paris region and spend more time filtering than on those beautiful twisties so the GS isn't probably the wisest choice but I do love it in nearly every way. It would be nice to be back on a bike that is 100kg lighter! I Ride safe
Thanks, Tony. The GS is a great bike, but so big and so expensive. I like the Trident's 'back to basics' approach :)
@@RocketMan_Moto Funny story, I took the Street Triple RS for a test ride today and loved it. I might even end up trading😂 I guess it's the midlife crisis or ADHD. Take care and ride safe
Oh no, you sound like me. I tried the new Speed Triple earlier in the week, and now I can't stop thinking about it!
@@RocketMan_Moto The salesman wants me to test the Speed Triple tomorrow. 😂 I guess we are just perfectionists
Oh dear. Get your wallet out!
Great follow-up review !! I too traded in a BMW for this, a 2020 F750GS which sadly had no soul and was like a school bus and a space shuttle had sex. Yea was neat all the screens and gizmos and was roomy but I could have fallen asleep on the thing and it probably would have just rode itself... meh... BUT the Trident...yessir.... this is a bike that begs your engagement.
I wasn't lucky (quick) enough to secure a pre-order for the Matte Black so I had to settle for the white and found a parts distributor in Germany (Triumphworld) that gave me all the part numbers to change the front fender pieces, radiator ends, under tail panel and tank cover to which ever colors I wanted to mix and match.
Regarding mods: I second the black TEC adjustable levers.. Thanks for recommending, they are very good and excellent quality to the price. Puig is currently working on a very decent looking windscreen for the Trident you can see on their site. I too would like a little more "gription" on the tank sides for diving into turns since currently there is a lot of slick plastic, but I found R&G has some tank grip strips (part: EZRG824BL) cut for those areas beneath the Trident logo where your grip is needed. Lastly R&G also has a pillion blank plate kit to cover where the pillion peg mounts would go and are quite nice (part: BLP0047BK)
I'm still in my break-in period and one thing I'm noticing is the lack of that "induction whine" that I keep hearing on other vids. I'm hoping its an unlock thing one the RPMs are freed up. Regardless, this bike is a head turner and is an absolute blast to ride.
one year shy of 50, This is my 6th bike (cruisers and street) and I can say so far this one has ticked 90% of those (my perfect bike) boxes and got a feeling I'll be keeping this one in the stable for some time :)
Sounds as if you had a very similar experience to me: taken in by the BMW's good looks and premium reputation, only to be disappointed by the reality. Glad you're enjoying the Trident, it's a cracking bike :)
You gotta love the Portuguese landscape 💚
Indeed!
Would love to see reactions to the Soundbomb on the MSX.
Haha, I've already scared some little old ladies :)
After 18 months of research I just bought a Tiger 900 GT, and yet, I still relish every video you post.
I appreciate that. I haven't ridden the Tiger yet, but have read lots of good things about it. Enjoy :)
I saw an add on ebay by a company in Europe who has a kit for the trident where the signal lights are mounted up under the seat along the sides. The tail tidy was removed leaving the whole tire exposed and the plates was monted on an arm on the left side where the arm for the tail tidy was very similar to the Indian. The price was around 5 or 6 hundred dollars. I can't remember the name of the company I think they were either from Italy or France
Yes, there are a few interesting options beginning to emerge.
Great updated color scheme!
Thanks! I just need to do the under-seat cowl now. I'll probably wrap it :)
Thanks for another great video! The season is just starting here in Norway and you are already 3 months in.... I am a bit jealous I must admit :-)
Yes, it's a great region for motorcycling here with all the long, dry days and pretty mountains. Mind you, in Norway you'd probably call them hills, lol :)
Good to see you're still enjoying the Trident, I agree with you that in many situations it's a better option than the Street triple, in fact about 70% of my riding would be city and suburban riding which is were the Trident's in its element but that other 30% when I get a chance to cane it is were I'd miss my Street triple.
That's it in a nutshell: the Trident is perfect if you want to stay legal ;)
Amazing shots on the coast
Yes, I am lucky to live in such a pretty region :)
I've got the same paint scheme on my bike, and thinking of changing the red aswell but doing the under seat aswell.
The red under the seat is slightly less visible, at least to me as a tall guy, so I haven't done it yet. I imagine the part is expensive, so wrapping might be a good idea :)
The most informative review I've seen yet
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it :)
Mine arrived last week, and I think you are right in terms of this being a good bike for me - someone who is getting back into riding after 30 years! I am less picky about many of the things you mentioned as grievances, but that goes to my lack of experience. I love the bike, and have ordered the tec levers on your recommendation and as my hand was very sore trying to reach the indicators in particular. Other than that the bike is very forgiving for novices like me, but the 660 engine will allow for long term ownership, as opposed to me having bought a 500 or even smaller bike. I was right at home on it on the second day. Thank you for your info!
Great to hear you're enjoying your Trident. No surprise, though, because it's one of the best bikes in the last 10 years. Enjoy! :)
I'd buy a Street Triple tomorrow if they offered it in an interesting color. At least the Trident gets white. Triumph must have a huge reservoir of silver and black paint.
Haha, I agree. I was thinking that about the Speed Triple I rode a few days ago: such a loopy bike should be available in canary yellow, or purple... :)
As usual thank you for the calming and informative videos.
I did test drove the T660 in Lisbon and loved it. It was my first triple engine and really liked it.
But, as expected, it is not for me. I need more upright riding position and more wind protection.
( I asked when was the 660 based sport touring going to be released but they had no information yet )
I am looking at a used 1200GS or the new Yamaha Tracer 9 GT.
And I really miss Algarve.. few days ago I remembered buying schrimp in the " Mercado de Olhão " Nhom..
The Tracer 9GT looks very nice. The BMW is sooo expensive :(
Thank you, excellent review with all the important stuff
Thank you, Mark :)
My street triple s broke, to the point of getting rid of it, after 2 weeks. Triumph took no responsibility.
Glad yours is going strong.
Your bike is 2 weeks old and Triumph don't want to know? Sounds strange, hope you get it sorted.
@@RocketMan_Moto they said nothing wrong though it was dramatically over filled with oil, Shut off while riding , over heats to the point of burning me, and ticks endlessly.
Maybe a bad dealer, but I emailed triumph uk 2 times and got nothing. So back to Japanese bikes for me.
But I'm truly Happy your bike and other triumph owners are having a great time. It "was" an amazing bike but I sold it back for ... 60%. Not safe to keep
Wow, that's very poor service you had :(
That sounded really weird.🤔
Love your honest reviews. Thanks 👍🏼
Thanks you, Ashish :)
Great description of the seat. It's cheap crap and as you say marks easily, it is comfy though.
I don't know if it's cheap, tbh. It certainly feels a bit latexy, but it seems to be withstanding the wear & tear... Time will tell, I suppose :)
I was looking at one of these, but ultimately chose a 2021 Street Triple 765R. Id have one as a 2nd bike though
It's a close call. The ST R is definitely the one to go with, though. The RS is too peaky.
If you want a softer suspension, drain and replace your fork oil with one grade lighter.
I've been thinking about doing that, and changing the rear shock.
Can confirm the road pilot 5's are a peach in the rain had them on my sv and not once I felt it slip
Good to hear, although I'm not surprised :)
Congrats to your small changes you did on the bike, makes it look even better. I really like the Trident but it came too late for my 2020 buy. As good as it is, specially for the price, today I would trade in my 2020 Street R - which for me offers the best balance of price and performance (vs RS and Trident).
I agree the ST R is the one to go for. Only one detail puts me off, though: the clocks make it look like a 10 year old bike😐
That Trident is dead sexy though. That’s got to be part of owning a motorcycle. Best looking naked middleweight
Agreed
Southern Portugal. A wise man. But I'm going to keep my Triumph Street Triple.
Loved my Street but don't regret selling it, tbh. Too peaky for me :)
@@RocketMan_Moto I agree. I almost bought the ST R instead of the RS for the broader torque curve. But the handling and braking are superb. Aprilia is also supposed to make some nice bikes.
I get that - I love massive Brembos, too, and that's why I went with the RS. Also, the dash on the R looks ancient, but the engine does offer a bit more low-down torque.
Good update video on theTrident
Thanks, Lyn :)
I think when they do any sort of update on the trident we will see a few HP and better brakes.
A Trident R would be awesome, but it would probably steal too much of the Street Triple's sales??
Its a great bike for me. I would like a rear mudguard or hugger to keep the bike and me cleaner!
I agree the mudguards are a bit on the small side, although it never rains in the Algarve, so not a big issue for me :)
There are already options from Pyramid Plastic UK. I'm also thinking about it.
@@RocketMan_Moto We're usually pretty dry here in Australia too, however, since I've owned this bike...
@@ivobax9438 Thanks Ivo, I'll check them out on the webnets. Cheers
I thought the same loved the Trident but the power was not there, settled for the Honda CB1000r
Yep, I'm getting bored of only having 80hp ;)
Hi RocketMan your review is great i love it.
I got one question. Is the QuickShifter from Trident both up and down or just up?
Thanks! The Trident's QS is up and down, and it works really well. One of the best I've tried on any bike.
The black one with white logo was better looking in my opinion
I slowly went off the red/silver as the weeks went by, and now prefer the white or matte black :)
PS I like the sound of the Trident but I strongly disagree that it sounds indistinguishable the same as the 766 Streety 2020+ (R and RS). Not only does the exhaust in the streeties look better,, it also sounds 10-20% better, just a little more base and you can kind of hear the 100 CBMs extra.
Yes, I agree the ST does have the edge, but not by much😊
Great review
Thank you, Brian :)
Still going to keep my street triple R
The R is the best of all Street Triples
BHP - This is why I prefer the CB650R over the Triumph.
The Honda might have 95hp, but it's harder to get to than the Triumph's 80
Honda is brilliant on reliability and the Cb650R also looks good. The 2021 small update to the fork is nice, but.... it's still too heavy with almost 210kg and too few torque, you need to shift al lot. Yes the CB650R runs smoothly even down low 1.500 RPM, but has no power below 8.000 rpm
RM, was that an onlins sticker on your front fork? I paired my android phone with the bike in less than a minute and can now enjoy tunes on the go. I fitted the pillion grab rails myself using the excellent Triumph technical instructions. And whilst the red tail pan was removed took the opportunity to cut to shape some clear vinyl and stick it to the underside to offer some protection against abrasion and stone chips.
Yep, a genuine Öhlins sticker, lol. In my attempt to reduce the red bits, I took the Showa sticker off, but it looked a bit bare, so I put a black & grey Öhlins sticker on. I will probably be covering the rear cowl when I do the tail tidy swap :)
I wonder if the Trident's top end is neutered the way the Tiger 850 and 900 are... by limiting the butterflies at open throttle at higher RPMs. If so, you could just edit the tables once your warranty is up. I think the Tiger 900 is limited to 83% throttle at high rpm.
I wondered that too, just so the Street Triple keeps its power advantage. There's certainly a sharp(ish) drop-off in power as you climb the revs...
@@RocketMan_Moto Check this out: advrider.com/f/threads/removing-15-tiger-95hp-eu-regulatory-limit.1490921/
Think you would have enjoyed an F900r instead of the XR.
The Trident is good value and I like everything except for the weak brakes and terrible sidearm mounted license plate and turn signals.
I agree about the brakes on the Trident, although the Stylemas on the Tiger 900 I rode yesterday weren't brilliant, either :)
I've heard that swapping for more aggressive pads that you can make a soft feeling break have that initial bite you seem to want I haven't swapped the pads on my trident yet but I've been considering it
That's a good idea, any links?
@@RocketMan_Moto www.britishlegends.fr/en/brake-pads-trident.html
thoes are the pads the site also had a kit to swap brembo calipers but that was 1300 so I think I'll just try the pads
Thanks, Dillon. I'll take a look :)
I've just ordered a pair. Quite a cheap mod, so fingers crossed they improve the bite of the front brakes a bit. Thanks again for your help :)
@@RocketMan_Moto yeah hopefully they work out for you. Now I just need to find a site in the US that actually has them in stock 😅
different colored front wheel fender&radiator looks much better than the original!
I think so, too. Transforms the bike. Thanks :)
Very nice looking bike but I still cant get interested in trading my Daytona in on something with less power and no protection even though I'm sure the handling is great.
I get that. The Daytona was/is a fabulous bike. If I had one, I wouldn’t sell it either😊
Great review as always :)
Do you have any plans of testing a tuono 660?
I am very curious about this comparison in your perspective..
Thank you. The Tuono is on my list :)
Great, thanks
Thank you😊
Beautiful review. Your voice is very pleasant and you speak very clear, no bullshit.
Thank you, Mike :)
You KNOW you hit the riding experience jackpot when you decide to choose it over the Street Triple... 😎
Yes... but I rode the new Speed Triple a couple of days ago and can't stop thinking about it. Uh oh... :)
@@RocketMan_Moto look at this way, a Speed Triple is a like a 2 day weekend thrill on the twisties, but a Trident is the true home you come to.. hehehe
Well said. But I still want one, lol :)
Hi, great video, I did saw a svartpilen 401 in the video, and I wanted to ask what do u think between the svart and trident for 1st bike. I do like the huski a lot,and is more in my budget, but I am 33 years old and 110kg and a lot of people are saying that it will be too small for me, and maybe not enough powerfull. Can you give me any advice, thanks :)))
The Trident is a bigger bike physically, so I think you would be better with that. Your choice will depend on other things, though, like dealer support, etc.
Hi RocketMan, thanks for sharing the experience. I am wondering what the tank bag is at 12:02? Is it from Triumph or what brand and model it is?
It's this one. Fits the Trident very well.

Hi, great review! Do you mind sharing the beautful location overlooking the sea at 0:45 mins please?
Praia dos Arrifes, Albufeira :)
I have the flyscreen and it looks cool but offers almost zero protection at all. I wear a full face helmet and on the highway at 70 mph I get totally blasted. One to two hours max at that speed. Aftermaket windshield for anything longer than 2 hours on a duel carriageway. Bloody hell. Appears some companies are now offering windscreens so that will be my option for long rides above 65 mph.
Hmm, ok so the fly screen is no good... Thanks for the heads-up :(
Well, go tell that to MCN and the like that always say that the suspensions way too soft on japanese bikes and Europeans bikes are the only ones that know how to make suspensions.
Maybe even though they normal body's they weight a lot more, because physics are different to them.
Either that or they are always racing on the street and so need to be those 5 seconds faster...
Anyway, good review.
Anyway, if you feel like come to Vizela and see the place where the first treaty between country's, Portugal and United Kingdom was signed.
Thanks, Nelson. I must say all the Japanese bikes I’ve ridden have been more comfortable than European bikes, although the new Grom I bought recently is TOO soft🙄
