Hola, Spain lovers! We're James and Yoly. James is a New Zealander, and Yoly is from Spain. And we both live in Madrid. This channel is all about giving you a local insight into life in Spain, and helping you experience this country like a local when you come to visit (or live!). If that sounds like your kind of thing, bienvenido!
*This description contains affiliate links which means we may earn a commission if you use them 🙏🏻
Hope you enjoyed the video guys! Have you stayed in an amazing Parador? Which ones should we add to the list to explore?
Hello!! Finding your channel was like finding a treasure. I continue to dream of moving to Spain and enjoying the rich history and culture that runs through my blood. I won't ever give up on that dream but until it is manifested, thank you for your wonderful videos that really get to the heart of it all. Great success to you and Yoly. P.S. Yoly your singing was fantastic!!! Me encanto!! Mucho amor!!
Stay in Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The parador is a former hospital that pilgrims stayed in on the Ruta de Santiago. The restaurant has great food and amazing wine. It's close to Bilbao, in the center of wine country (we did a day trip to Haro, amazing city and food) and a nice stop if you're on the way to San Sebastián.
No doubt about it. Chinchón, so close from Madrid, a tiro de piedra. Cuenca, Guadalupe, Siguenza and Oropesa. More sword and sorcery and gastronomy for your educated senses.
Nothing to suggest, just the perfect kind of video for your style, even the 30 minutes long I think that fits.
Thanks to Paradores for sponsoring you in these times, I think it is a great investment for them, and if I were Paradores' PR I would use your Cuenca, Cáceres and I hope some other more not only on youtube, but also on every English language TV station.
As I do like to suggest things ... If you add a sequel cooking some traditional dish /es from Cáceres once at your home, for your cooking at home videos - that is other kind of show - it would be nice to watch.

If Spain's tourism bureau isn't paying these two, it should. Every video I watch with them makes me want to visit Spain more than the one before.
There videos keep me in touch. I have had 2 trips to spain cancelled because of Covid but I am determined to get there once it is safe to travel again and restrictions have been lifted
So glad you enjoy them Daniel!
You nailed it, Daniel.

i miss womad fest.. :')
La ciudad más bonita del mundo 👍
I think Cáceres and the whole country, overall, deserve many great visits. In Spain there's everything, for everyone and for all tastes. There are countries, such as Spain, which have been at the center of the world for millennia and have shaped and written history for centuries and other countries that have only been dragged by it...
Gosh Spain 🇪🇸 is sooo majestic and absolutely 💯 gorgeous. Would love to visit when all of this is over!!!!! Much love !
Game of Thrones, 1492 Conquest of Paradise and lately the serie "Ines del Alma Mia" (first chapters) are just examples of filmings in Caceres. Thanks for letting the English speakers world know about this UNESCO wonder called Caceres.
I had never heard of Caceres before seeing this video as part of a depressed, wine-driven pity party on the sofa during lockdown. I dreamed of visiting Caceres, and re-watched this video repeatedly (and other Caceres videos). Three weeks ago I was able to stay in Caceres as part of a big birthday trip to Spain, and I wished I had stayed there for the entire vacation. What a wonderful, beautiful, magical, friendly city! Thank you!
Cáceres is one of my favorite cities. Portugal has the Estremadura, with an s and not an x. What I like about Cáceres is that you have the old preserved part of the city and the new modern part, with wide boulevards and palm trees. The entrance coming in from the Autovia is impressive. Since we are economical with our money and have no sponsors, we stay at the four star Extremadura Hotel, which is quite reasonable and has a good breakfast. Staying in Cáceres you can make day trips to Trujillo, birthplace of Francisco Pizarro, conqueror of the Incas, Malpartida de Cáceres where a lot of the scenes from Game of Thrones were filmed, and Montánchez, that castle and village looking down from a distance on the Autovia de la Plata. If you are a history buff, you also have to visit Medellín, near Mérida, birthplace of Hernán Cortès, conqueror or the Aztecs. There is so much history here you don't know where to begin. Extremadura has been the filming location of many Spanish movies and television series. Perhaps the most famous filmed in the city of Cáceres itself is 1492, Conquest of Paradise, with Gerard Depardieu and Sigourney Weaver.
Great tips Ray - thank you!
@@spainrevealed A great video. Congratulations.

Enjoy, thanks for visiting Spain
Vejer de la Frontera looks to be a wonderful place too I want to visit your town too.
I've been to all of those places and I've to tell you, that is such a clever itinerary.
Cáceres was on the list as a potential location to visit next trip to España. Now it's a definite must visit. Thanks for another great video. Hasta luego.
My wife and I had the pleasure of a three day visit to Caceres earlier this year during Carnival. We absolutely loved it. We started our Spanish holiday with 10 days in Malaga before heading to Cadiz, Caceres, Toledo, Los Alcazares, Nerja and then back to Malaga. Spain has become a regular destination for us, there is so much history, amazing food and wine.
Saludos 😊
Yolly’s cheerful countenance is the highlight of these vids. Mas Yolly, por favor!
Love extremadura and especially Caceres, we have visited so many times and discover new aspects of the City every time,
I was in Caceres a few years ago doing the camino de a plata,
and I really loved this city, super pretty
Good for bicycle.
My wife and I are going to spend three nights. Can you tell us the best restaurant?? Gracias
This video was visually overwhelming. I would be enthralled in observing one structure and then you would cut to another equally impressive site. My visual senses couldn't keep up with all the beauty and intricacies of this medieval city. I was very pleased that the weather on the days of this video was so beautiful which allowed you to see every detail and appreciate the panoramic view of the city. The courtyard that Yoly found is so beautiful and I daydreamed of sitting there, enjoying its tranquility. Your hotel bathroom WAS definitely impressive! All the food that you presented looked amazing and I was envious of your experience (including the local wines that you had). Thank you for taking us on this superb tour with you.
Thanks Gina!
The weather is almost always like that at the city, it's a very sunny area
Haven’t been in Spain since Feb and I’m having withdrawal symptoms - so thanks soooo much for keeping me in touch. I love the Paradores.
Cáceres is such a good filming location (Including Game Of Thrones) because the electric cables are not exposed on the external walls in the old city.
Thanks for promoting my homeland!
I didn’t think I could fall in love with yet another city of Spain but oh my Caceres! Didn’t even know it existed until this wonderful video. Yoly me encanto escucharte cantar. Que Chevere Ole’! James you and Stuart of Spain speaks keep me very well informed on the current happenings in Spain. I loved the crossover video you two collaborated on last week. Keep filming and sharing because this pandemic will be over and when that happens, I’ll be on the next plane God willing. Stay safe and God bless. 💞
I just discovered your CZcams channel and I have been binge watching your episodes. I must say it is quite refreshing to watch each adventure that you post. I partially lived in La Coruna, Galicia when I was 2-5 years old (back in the 1970s). I remember the rich Spanish culture and the amazing food. My parents divorced and I came to Toronto, Canada when I was five years old with my mother. A big part of me misses that rich Spanish culture. Thank you for creating this CZcams channel. Fantastic content. A little piece of home in my heart.
I was supposed to go to Spain yesterday but my country won't allow it. When Joly started sang I started to cry. I SO wanted to go. ...
saskiapanter I’m sorry :( one day it will happen !
Same here
I am so sorry for you man, I hope you can come some day! We will welcome you with open arms!
I felt your sentiment when you said you cried. I wanted to return this year, 2020, and our covid infections spiked that we are not allowed in Europe. I cried for more than a week, and have been sad for months, but I keep watching these videos and they sustain me because they give me the will and hope to continue to dream and make my future visit a reality. I WILL RETURN TO SPAIN.
@@Emy53 same here, I WILL go back again. Spain is my second motherland. I've been coming to Spain since I was 2 years old so for 46 years now. My home away from home ❤❤❤❤❤❤

Gracias por el paseo. Muy hermoso. Y el arranque flamenco de Yoli... jajaja..
I stayed at El Hostal De Los Reyes Católicos en Santiago De Compostela. It was a beautiful experience. Can’t wait to go visit more Paradores. They are just amazing and enriching with history. Nice video.
Ioli singing...well can't tell a passionate person not to exercise her passion 😁 another lovely video guys 👍🏾

I visited Cáceres two years ago. I do love the city.
I must say, your videos gets more and more professional. That is ment as a compliment. I wouldn't be surprised if some big TV channel wants to hire you both any minute. Thanks for another lovely trip.
I appreciate that James a Yoli are themselves. If they were picked up by a studio, they would change their spontaneity, and free style. I love James and Yoli as they are.

Any chance you guys could do a video like this one of Segovia? I was there in 1991 and would love to see you two walk the streets there and talk about all the amazing history of the city. Riding the train there from Torrejon de Arroz and spending the entire day there was amazing. It was one of greatest moments of my life. Next year, in February, it will be 30 years since I was there. I had planned on going back to celebrate, but due to Covid, it won't happen. So, seeing you two there would be amazing! Thanks again for sharing with us. Really, really love your vlogs!
I've viewed about a dozen or so of your videos by now. Nice couple ... But now hearing Yoly sing flamenco won me over! I see - and hear - why James is enchanted. ¡Brava, Yoly! Well done, sir.
Excellent video, as usual. You guys are wonderful promoters of these charming cities and now that my husband and I are living in Oviedo, we are taking notes on places to see. I actually got chills thinking about the age and history of your tower retreat. We are both working on our Spanish so that we show the proper deference to our beloved host country. We feel so privileged to live here now. BTW, I liked your collaboration with Stuart of Spain Speaks. You are both great bridges between the Anglo and Latin cultures. Saludos y abrazos desde Asturias.
Are you living in the city itself or in a village nearby? Oviedo is a beautiful place and the location is marvelous.
@@rayvogensen2983, we live in Oviedo in the city center. We are retired and my mother's family came from Asturias. We came here ten years ago and fell in love with the city and its people and decided that we wanted to live here. The Spanish are so kind. I don't think I have ever felt so happy. It is, indeed, a marvelous place.
My husband and I have spent the last 27 days touring historic Croatia, as well as their nature. We UNDERSTAND needing a siesta! Haha

A great video! Kudos to you two and the editing too. Caceres has been on my list of places to go for years. Now, I can't imagine NOT going there. What a fantastic city, great food, stunning vistas, and room 201 doesn't look like a rough gig! I enjoyed Yoly's singing too! Ole! (silly chromebook won't do accents,)
Thanks Tim! Carlos did a great job with the editing.
Thanks for bringing us the next best thing to being back in Spain. We stayed in room 201...it’s the best!

A great place in Caceres!!! Thank you for sharing, wow Joli really sings very good!!! Keep the great videos coming!!! Un abrazo amigos
I’m loving your videos! My family was from Spain, I’ve been there a couple of times and it’s where my heart is❤️
Extremadura.
This is one of your most beautiful videos you’ve created to date! I enjoyed learning about the lovely Caceres. Yoli was especially charming in this one and I especially appreciated her singing, especially her carefully navigating the complex microtonal embellishments.
My wife has been wanting me to mention to you how much we have been enjoying the videos on Spain Revealed. We discovered (through algorithmic suggestion) near the beginning of our “quarantine” and have been binge-watching like a Netflix true-crime series. Your videos have been a great comfort in these anxiety-inducing times. My wife and I met and then lived in Palma de Mallorca for about 8 years in the 90s when we were in our 20s. My wife lived in Madrid on her own while she worked at La Scala. I have many regrets about not visiting more of la peninsula, but I certainly explored every nook and cranny of my beloved Mallorca, even finding gems in the ugliest tourist zones (A good fish and chip shop or German restaurant). Your videos often trigger memories of our times there, even sometimes just the way the setting sun looks against medieval buildings or a landscape view from a tower. Anyway, thanks again, your videos, we find them fun, informative and often beautiful.
James and Yoly your video is awesome, my wife and I saw your video about 3 times. We always visit Madrid in March for about month of every year but this time we plan to visit in September 2021 because of the virus. We will visit Parador Hotel in September and will request room 201. 👍😷
Great sound editing! Loved the transition between the guy playing the guitar and the intimate piano (?)

G-damn it, you two! When will us Americans be allowed to go back to Spain? Now, I have to return to Toledo AND visit Cuenca and Caceres. C'mon, a bucket list can only be so long!
I think anyone can fly here anyway... I think.
Don't miss Ávila and Segovia if you visit that area, and Granada if you visit the south, and Gerona if you visit the northeast, and Santiago de Compostela if you visit the northwest... and many other smaller and beautiful towns all around Spain...
And don't forget Mérida, one of the most important cities in roman Hispania. Also visit Tierra de Campos, land of solitary plains of castles, where the visigoth people settled during the last years of the Roman empire
@Jeff Zucker, I had covid in 2020, so Spain was not an option that year. Then 2021, the restrictions were still in place and 2022 was a recovery year. Looking for to 2023 as the year. Long overdue. I was in southern Spain in early October 2019.
Really loved the video on the whole as well. So cool to see the views of the city. Medieval is the perfect adjective, it seems. I look forward to visiting Cáceres at some point. In truth, I haven't been to Extremadura at all, and I feel like it's a region that deserves more attention, both from me and just in general. You don't hear as much about Extremadura as you do about many of the other regions of Spain, but every time I see photos or videos, it looks so beautiful. Thanks for the video! It's always a pleasure!
It certainly is a place you should visit Matt. So much to explore.
