- The crew of Mordheim 2022 sat down and chatted with Mordheim creator Tuomas Pirinen. He spoke to us about the game's conception, and answered some questions regarding it's legacy over the past twenty three years.

What a great presentation. Toumas is such a cool guy, even over 20 years later he's still so enthusiastic about Mordheim. It's awesome.
Had the privilege of working on Lustria and meeting Tuomas and the design team. That got my start in games design. He's an absolute legend.

I love this video, as a designer, it really encourages me in different directions than I would normally think. What an absolute wizard Pirinen is! the concept of all getting together for a big tournament just to have a quick break to talk to the guy who MADE THE GAME is ridiculous, I want to do that! That's my new plan next time I get a big group of friends together for a party, invite a celebrity to give a presentation + Q&A, then continue gaming
I also work on games on the side, and this interview was really groundbreaking for me in terms of the craft. Tuomas really does a great job of boiling down the fundamentals to what helps a game stand the test of time.
Such a fantastic interview, it's nice to hear Tuomas' thoughts and insights behind the creation of Mordheim.
The energy and love and creativity of the community around the game have rippled out for decades and rather than peter out have only grown stronger with time, it truly is incredible.
The game was just such a wildcard right from the get go, it wasn't just "Fantasy Necromunda", it had strengths all of it's own off the back of the art and creative force that went into it.
The atmosphere was dark but absurd. The British humour can still be read under the grimness of the setting, I've always found there to be many parallels with Terry Gilliam's works in Warhammer in general.
And as a Yorkshireman the remark on Dwarfs sharing our accent not a Scots one gave me a chuckle :D

Never been so interested by a CZcams Video ! I learned lot of stuff, enchanted to see the face of the créator(omg this guy Rocks !) Thanks à million ! (Playing Mordheim for 20 year in Belgium). PS: What was the result of the tournement ?
We were playing a narrative campaign to find the lost count steinhardt. Ultimately, an undead warband with a vampire found and murdered him.

Back from the days when a 20 man box set, a blister pack, and stuff out of your bits box would give you plenty of options for warbands...
This is why I prefer skirmish-style games in general. Low model count is more accessible to everyone. Not everybody has $400 to drop on an army. Money should never be the barrier of entry for a game.
