Laughing at the person casually strolling across the bridge and the person on the opposite side running like hell.I am the person who runs like hell.

Single-leaf bascule bridges like this one were originally designed for railroad use. But, some do carry motor vehicles.

Why do Americans LOVE noise pollution? Absolutely no reason for a bridge opening to generate so much noise by way of sirens, bells, and horns?

There's somewhat a purpose with bridges meaning "loud noise get out of here" sort of message. Then again, I'm the same guy who named his channel after a type of train horn that has 2 to 5 separate horns on one manifold.
I guess this country prides itself on a lot of noise and not a lot of progress.
