  • Thru hiking the continental divide trail is every backpackers wet dream. So because of that I've made a hiking video about What To Expect Your 1st Day on the CDT. Don't be fooled. CDT is pretty extreme trail and first day sums it up pretty well. It is dry, hot and the terrain is unhospitable.

    Question for you: Would you dare to walk in these parts?

      reminds you somehow on some parts of Meseta. But seems like Meseta parts are just childrens play against these hard paths...well done for your brief prep talk, I think it gives a great knowledge for future thru hikers!
      its hard, but I guess its all what it makes it great, right? all good things dont come easy...some smart ass man said ones :)
      Tesla, you are a true lunatic, positively "brain damaged" for this kind of adventures, and I hope some day your advices will help me in my crazy adventures, wherever it may be!

    Excitement overwhelms all the facts you pointed out. That first 50 miles is tough and is almost anticlimactic when you reach Lordsburg. Then you realize "What did i just do?!"

    If you're properly prepared it's not that bad. You definitely want to be sure you fill up with at least 5 liters in between water caches. I started early my first day (7 a.m.?). I logged 28 miles by the end of the day. I didn't feel like I was hiking fast because many others were going faster. However, it felt so good to lay horizontal in my tent. I just laid there and moaned it felt so good. I felt satisfied with my progress since I was 63 yrs old. If I was to do it again, I would slow down. There's no rush on such a long journey.

    Hi, Nikola!
    Do you have plans to climb K2 and Matterhorn? If not, why?

    • @NHTesla
      @NHTesla  Před rokem +2

      Hi. No, I don't have that in my plans. Thats mountaineering and I am more into hiking. It is simply not my cup of tea.

    Hay brother!
    Why you dnt use full sleeves,they r more protective,plus summer hoodie kind of thing do miracle in these dry climate...

    • @NHTesla

      I am pretty resistant. I don't like long sleeves and I find bandana better solution than summer hoodie. Thanks for advice.

      Hahaha well that's a bummer. I did puncture it later in New Mexico in 20 spots in one night.😂
