  • Here is a recent new member of the family, a late 1939/early 1940 5ft 4in Chickering Ampico B. The piano itself is original and still plays wonderfully. The player was rebuilt in the mid-80s, and although showing it's age, still plays quite well. I think it's time for a voicing or possibly some new hammers in the future!
Here is the Chickering playing a nice line of tunes on Ampico Jumbo Roll 100825.
1.) Shuffle Off To Buffalo (Victor Arden)
2.) Falling Star (Bob Edgeworth (Milne))
    3.) I Can't Remember You (Vee Lawnhurst)
4.) You're Mine, You! (Robert Farquhar (Milne))
5.) Pretending You Care (Adam Carroll)
If you enjoy my channel performances and would like to help support my own piano playing or the maintenance and preservation of these pianos, donations are always accepted and very much appreciated.

What is the title of that piece? I don’t recognize it but it’s lovely!

This piano was local, previously residing in Syracuse, NY for several years. Prior to that it lived in California.

Wait a minute, this isn't the artcase Knabe, I can't read, did you really get ANOTHER grand??? xD Chickerings are my favorite when it comes to American pianos except for maybe Mason & Hamlins which really are one of the best, I think, in the world.

Yes, I did! I couldn't say no to such a late Ampico. So late it even says "Aeolian" on the lower left of the fallboard and "The Ampico" on the other end. This is about the largest sounding 5ft 4in grand I've had the pleasure of playing. Chickerings are wonderful instruments!

@@Yalie06405 Oh wow! Man you're lucky, I recently found a duplicate of my piano, the Francis Bacon which is now in Poland, here in New York, in Lake George actually but I don't have anywhere to put it :(
