Glyphosate - A Global Health Threat, with Stephanie Seneff | The Empowering Neurologist EP. 127

  • In our ever-increasingly polarized world, there’s one topic of interest in health and wellness that really seems to call out clear differences in opinion. Glyphosate, the herbicide and active ingredient in products like Roundup, has been touted by some as being a wonderful and safe way to rid crops and even homes of pesky weeds. And clearly, those who feel positively about this chemical are being heard as nearly 150,000 tons of glyphosate are sprayed onto American crops every year. That translates to about one pound of glyphosate for every person in our country. And this chemical makes its way into the water we drink, the agricultural products we consume, and even the air we breathe.
On the other side of this debate are those who feel that glyphosate represents a significant threat to our health. Researchers, like our guest today, look at the available science and have concluded that, by a multitude of mechanisms, glyphosate may well be responsible or at least contributory for a vast array of human ailments, from autism to dementia to autoimmune disease, and so many more.
This debate extends to the confusion surrounding the safety of GMO food. For the most part, the genetic modification of plant seeds is undertaken so that the newly developed plant is not damaged by the weed targeting action of glyphosate. This allows farmers to spray GMO crops with glyphosate, kill the weeds, and still harvest the undamaged plant. But while there may or may not be concern about the specific genetic modification of the plant, this whole scenario sets the stage for glyphosate to appear in our foods and throughout our environment.
That said, this is a fundamental nuance to the GMO debate that absolutely must enter the discussion.

Loved this! I was buying meat and raw milk from a man in Ohio. My first question to him was whether or not his products were organic. He told me that getting the certification was very expensive, but other than grass fed there was no GMO or chemicals in the feed. He then proceeded to tell me about an experiment he did when GMO corn first came on the market. He fed it to his pigs. After telling me that pigs are the closest to man in the animal world he then told me that within 3 months the breeding cycle in his pigs changed. At that moment he stopped, and never used, again, any GMO products. He said if it changed his pigs that fast he wasn't giving it to his animals, his family, or his customers. Isn't the reason that GMO plants can tolerate glyphosate is because the seeds already have it in them? I have been eating as much organic as possible for more than a decade, made my daughter eat organic when she was pregnant with my grandson and his first years were organic formula and other organic foods. He is scary smart and has a great sense of humor. I believe part of that is giving him food that is as clean of chemicals as possible. For at least 12 years I've been telling everyone that will listen how dangerous the GMO and roundup foods are. When they would tell me it was too expensive my response was that their illnesses as a result of these poisons would be far more expensive. Then I would tell them that the more of us that eat organic the more organic options we would have and the prices would come down. It has been so wonderful to see that this is exactly what has been happening. I wish everyone perfect, vibrant health! Thank you for this wonderful segment.

Perlmutter screwed the pooch with his conspiratard content about glyphosate, the least toxic herbicide ever formulated. Seneff was a notorious FRAUD of epic proportions, for her entire lifetime.
Encyclopedia of American Loons lists Seneff as a classic case. "Stephanie Seneff is a real senior research scientist at the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) at MIT, specializing in human-computer interaction and algorithms for language understanding and speech recognition. She is also a crackpot, pseudoscientist and conspiracy theorist trying to write about issues in biology and medicine, fields she demonstrably doesn’t understand. She has also managed to become something of an authority in the antivaccine and anti-GMO movements since people in these movements don’t notice or care that she has no competence in those fields as long as her credentials in completely unrelated fields give her crackpot rantings a sheen of authority. Not that Seneff herself would recognize the limits of her competence: “So basically what I do is I read papers and I process them with the computer to help me understand them and interpret them and generalize and build a story […]. Mostly what I do now is study, and then write. Trying to understand biology. I have an undergraduate degree from MIT in biology, and I also spent one year in graduate school in biology before switching over to computer science. And my PhD was on an auditory model for the human processing of speech. So that also involved biology, neurology. I’m not a complete ignoramus in the field of biology.” Actually, she is worse than an ignoramus; her description brilliantly illustrates a serious case of Dunning-Kruger and someone who is confidently scaling mount stupid.

"Back in 2014, Stephanie Seneff, a Senior Research Scientist at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, when speaking at a panel discussing GMOs (she’s against them, of course), made the following statement:
'At today’s rate, by 2025, one in two children will be autistic.'
OK, anyone with even one working neuron knows that such a claim is nonsense. One-half of children having autism in eight years? Please. But you may not understand the basis of the claim, or why it is nonsense. Let’s take a look. There are a few dead giveaways. Had Stephanie Seneff looked hard enough she may have uncovered other “causes” of autism. Perhaps the number of yellow Volkswagens on the road, the daily humidity in Boise, or maybe even the number of paisley ties worn by guys named Steve. Which should you believe? None of them. In fact, one prevailing theory about the rise in autism is due to more diagnoses, not more cases. And, David Warmflash, writing for the Genetic Literacy Project, argues that autism is genetic." geneticliteracyproject.org/2017/06/13/dissecting-mit-computer-scientist-stephanie-seneffs-claim-glyphosate-herbicide-causes-autism/

My brother in law died from colon cancer and his father died from lymphoma. The people in the FDA and other government agencies who refuse to ban this, are accomplices to murder as far as I'm concerned. They know this poison is killing people, but refuse to ban it. Caterpillars(Black Eastern Swallowtail) that I had fed with dill from the grocery store, washed it before feeding them, I found them dying the next day, laying in their green body juices and spasmic, they did not recover. Great and informative video. It’s such a shame that our governments did not learn from Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring which I read in my teens when it was released. It seems DDT’s history has repeated itself. I try to eat organic but it’s not always possible/affordable - buying from WholeFoods is unaffordable for most so we are doomed to all these down stream illnesses. Maybe we should be looking for the right messaging from politicians on these issues at the next elections to get things done.

I was exposed to glyphosate by my neighbor. This went on for over 5 years. My skin was eaten up by the intentional exposure.my evidence is solid. My assailant admitted he applied it on my property in civil court. He has never been held accountable for the terror he caused me. LE would not issue a trespass against him. I could not stop him. The civil court judge cited my right to use my property as I wished. This guy was above the law in every criminal action he committed against me. I only recently found out that Iowa is a State which requires Drs. to report anyone exposed to chemicals. I saw multiple Drs. and I am not aware that any of them reported that I was exposed. Someone needs to be accountable for allowing this to happen. He took my home, business and private property by applying glyphoaste on my property. I have recently been diagnosed with severe scoliosis. I found a link between scoliosis and glyphosate. The stuff nearly killed me. I was suffer so severely I wanted to die. My condition is chronic. I wish I had died than live as I am now.

Kathy: Glyphosate is designed for eradicating BOTH monocots and dicots, (grass, AND broadleaf plants). As a many-years, licensed landscape contractor in the USA- "Southeast", I used "Round-up" to effectively eradicate invasive Japanese "Kuzu" vine, (locally called: "Kudzu"), and Poison Ivy (Rhus). I discontinued use of then- Monsanto's product when doubts of its "safety" arose, and the World Health Organization held it firmly as a suspect carcinogen. It would have been interesting if she discovered the gene in those that are probably more , sensitive to glyphosate. If just the glyphosate that contributes to autism and many other problems, then every baby would born autistic. There are autistic adults born in the 40's even earlier than that, even though the pesticide used back then was considered many times more toxic the glyphosate. It was discontinued the use because was affecting reproductive organs. It Would be interesting to discover the ONE thing in glyphosate causing autism in same kids and not in all of them. What gene in those kids are being turned off that they can't detoxify correctly? Is it just the glyphosate the cause of leaky gut in kids with autism and its blocking nutrients absorption?
