This was back when developers could take chances with games. I miss the ps2 era where you really had no idea what a game would be like and was often pleasantly surprised by how good a game was that only you and a few hundred people have played.

I've been saying it for years: This is a legitimately solid PS2 game, even without the benefit of the franchise attached to it. For fans of GitS, it's got a great voice cast and a neat little story, as well. A lot of people are still sleeping on this one, which should keep the prices from becoming too insane... for now, anyway!

Buffy's increased strength and combat ability only put her at a level with her supernatural foes and its one of those combat systems where basically everything you can do to the enemy, they can also do to you - if anyone plays it I definitely recommend playing it on the hard difficulty. I bought and played this during lockdown and I loved it.
It's up there as one of my favourite PS2 games.
As a DnB and sanodg fan the soundtrack is music to my ears and it's the main reason why I decided to check the game out in the first place.

I was also going to recommend taking a look at Bungie's forgotten GitS-inspired game, Oni, but now I see you noticed someone else asking for the same review... I'm glad you took notice, I think that game'll be right up your alley 🙂.

With you enjoying this game I fully recommend Peripeteia on steam. There's a demo out right now and it feels massive. Feels a lot like GitS, from music to aethestics. Its super free in how you play and you really can do absolutely whatever you want with traversal

Maaaaaaaaaaaaan I found this game back in Jan in a Forgotten PS2 games video and my mind was damn blown that there was a Ghost in the Shell PS2 game. Not only was it a Ghost game it had depth mechanics that gave me ONI vibes. I looked for the ISO online to play and played through to the bridge or dam with the giant helicopter firing on you with the two cannons also firing on you boss fight. I love the mechanics and wish they made more. Gunplay is real nice. It's nearly that perfect 3rd person adrenaline action game I wanted at the time, but it was indeed a good fix. Very sad that the multiplayer game was killed because i played so much of that beta and it had some great polish. Heartbroken. Hopefully someone will be up to the task to make a Ghost in the Shell game that's not some spin off or online multiplayer game or whatever. Just a quality anime cel shaded 90s 3rd person action single player Ghost in the Shell game that is a remake of Stand Alone Complex. Linear open levels. Don't have to be open world at all. A AAA quality focused Japanese game.
I'm gonna go finish this game later. I'm playing Tales Arise and Star Wars The Old Republic, yet PS2, PSP, and old PC games grab my attention. Heavy Metal: F.A.K.K.2. anyone? up on Abandonware and it's that top tier 90s fantasy action adventure PC game. So much fun. So much mechanic depth for a booba brand. Turn your volume down on the menu screen though 😂

Absolutely love this, I made an absolute shit let's play of it years ago, but as a massive fan of the stand alone complex subseries, it was such a treat to play, the entire english dub cast reprising their roles was awesome. I had only heard about it years and years after I'd initially seen stand alone complex. I've been waiting for pcsx2's emulation of the game to hit 100% before replaying it.
