- Editing multi-cam sequences can be overwhelming but fortunately Premiere Pro has a way where you can act as a switcher and edit multi-cam video fast and easy! It makes the process of editing different cameras a lot less tedious and acting as your own switcher is always fun!

Tyler gets into it via the timeline nesting approach, rather than making the multi-source clip 1st in a bin!
It's the sync, nest and then right click the nest to turn-on mulitcam-enable in the timeline technique.
Enabling basically makes the nest a mulitcam edit sequence.
For Editing Start Here:
02:25 -Editing Mulitcam the set-up for the program monitor starts @ 02:45.
05:40 -Rolling edit to tweaks!
06:13 -Cuting out a “mess-up” with blade Cut (and/or comd K). Chopp rip-delete.
06:19 -He also ripple trims out pauses here, using the Q and W keys, which I can go over.
Basically, it’s a ripple trim from the play head to the nearest cut.
Play head to cut < right to left with Q
Play head to cut > left to right with W
If you need to extract a long pause or dead space, without the blade Cut (and/or comd K), use In-Out marks instead and hit the Xtract button.

@TMBProductions First of all, beautiful tutorial. I see the problem with the muted audio in multi cam mode. Make sure you don't include audio inside of your nested sequence. Just nest the video. Now when you press the switcher, it won't mute the audio...

Very helpful! Also, curious why you created the multi-cam in this way... where you made a nested group first and then enabled Multicam. Wouldn't it be easier to select sources in your project and right click select make Multicam?
There are a couple ways to do multi-cam. I have heard of doing it that way, but I feel like you need to have all of your clips in the same bin and organized properly to be able to select the right ones to multi-cam. In my case, I always put my different cameras in their own bins so doing it through the project wouldn't work for me .

You can create a multicam sequence by simply going to the project panel and :
1. select or import all the clips and audio file you need
2. right click on the selected files, scroll down to create multicam sequence. this will sync up all the audio and video files in one go.
3. select the multicam sequence thats been create, right click and selcet new sequence from clip.
It's worth noting there's a toolbar button for multicam. you can find it in the button editor. the first 2 minutes of you video can be done in 30 seconds.

This is a good tutorial.
Just a thought. Although I get how having a ton of audio clips cluttering up the space can be a pain in the wazzoo, I simply mute the clips I'm not using. I can't tell you how many times something got shifted in some way that I didn't intend and I needed that camera's audio present to get myself back in sync.
Another technique if you really just want to get rid of all that clutter is to create markers in the individual clips themselves that line up with key lines of dialog or whatever. This can help keep you lined up and get you out of a jam as well.
Again, just a thought.

Is there à way to speed up my macbook it’s like my computer getting slower after a do the steps
Great video, I don't know why, but when I click 1-2-3-4 it writes in the playhead position and it doesn't change my main video. With the mouse, no problem, but it would be cooler to do it with the keyboard, strange
Do you potentially have your 1,2,3,4 keys mapped to something else for a hotkey? If so, then that could be the reason. If not, make sure you have your clip selected and also the video playing when hitting your keys. I believe it needs to be playing in order for the keys to work

Had some audio sync issues, then realized I was hitting B instead of N. This may be a common mistake and literally will mess you up. Just make sure your Rplling Edit tool is selected. When I get done i switch back to the Selection tool to be safe. I'm not sure if that's an extra step yet- but i'll test another time when I have play time!
That is a good point! They look similar within premiere but do different things for sure! I also always switch back to the selection tool to be safe lol. I appreciate the tips!
but if you have a long video, do you have to watch all in normal time to be cutting between the cameras?
You don't have to no! You can still speed through the clips with the J and L keys, you just can't pull the play head and make cuts
Thanks for the video. This has been standard procedure to cut multicam for many years. Is there an AI option available that does the cuts for you on the multicam timeline?
Not that I know of, but I am sure there is something out especially with all the AI features coming out.

Why, after nesting, there is only video, and no audio?
I have never experienced that. Are you sure you have your audio selected when nesting and also it isn't muted?
How come I cannot sync the two videos togetheer😢
Sometimes if the audio isn't clear in one of the tracks, the audio can't since. Then you have to do it manually. At that point, just look at similar moments in your audio wave lengths on your clips and put a marker on the clips with "M" and then line them up that way.
my main issue is podcasts can be hours long , is there a way to speed up playback while doing multi-cam switches ? (sorry if this is a stupid question im still learning)
Not a stupid question at all! I speed threw my clips all the time using the hot key L and the more you click it the faster it goes. J does the same thing but rewinds. And then K pauses it but I just use space anyways. Hope this helps!

Hi, is there an option to automatically add transitions when changing camera angles? This would avoid the need to manually add transitions at each cut point.
I don't believe there is an option to do that. Although, if you highlight all your clips and hit control D on the keyboard, it will add a default transition to everything!

What’s the rolling tools use for?
The rolling tool is helpful and is used in between two clips to move the cut. When you want to extend one clip but also shorten the other clip at the same time without changing the length of your sequence. While the ripple edit tool will still move the cut but it will shorten the one clip completely and shorten the timeline for you but won't increase the other clip like the rolling edit tool would.
An issue is doing multicam stresses my PC. I've been rendering the multi-cam sequence, and then adding it to a base sequence with my pre-roll, graphics, post-rolls etc, and re-rendering. Clearly this is reducing the resolution of the multi-cam clip. Any suggestion on how to better assemble this?
You could try to proxy your clips, it will lower the quality within premiere but speed up editing. And then you can just export it normally.
@@TMBProductions12 yes I do that. It's when I add normal (also proxy) clips before and after the multicam group that it get hard to edit.
I know multicam or other heavy editing like this can slow the computer down so changing the process in which you do it won't change anything especially if you are already nesting the multicam group. It comes down to the PC. Have you done any preference changes like clearing media cache or allocating more RAM to Premiere?

Will this work with 4 cameras with dozens of cuts in them?
Edit: So far I have been using Plural Eyes to edit multicam edits. But Plural Eyes support is more or less dead. Hence this question.
As long as you nest all the clips together, the cuts shouldn't matter. It may be a little jumpier but you can always stop and change the camera by clicking on the individual clips in between the cuts and either clicking on the window or hitting the keys.
@@TMBProductions12 Thanks for your reply. What I meant was that when I am putting multiple cuts from the cameras on the timeline, Premiere is refusing to sync giving an error message.
@@KrishnenduKes You may have to sync the multiple cuts individually or if that doesn't work you will have to do it manually if you are getting an error message. Try matching up the audio and putting markers on the clips to help sync them together.

Can you show how to upload the clips from two different cameras to Premiere Pro?
The easiest way is to create two separate folders, one named "Camera 1" and the other "Camera 2" and putting your footage in those and uploading it that way!
@@TMBProductions12 I see, so it doesnt matter if I click on the record button 10seconds to 30seconds apart from each other? It will sync both once I sync them with audio?
@@royaltykidstv That is correct! I rarely record both cameras at the same time. As long as you have clear audio on both, they should sync easily!
@@TMBProductions12 thank you. What about recording with a tripod at 24fps at 1/48? Am I safe if I leave it for 30mins-1hr? Asking because some people record at 30fps, but 24fps gives me more recording time.
@@royaltykidstv If you are looking for more record time then I would go for 24fps, and it should be fine! If you don't care for record time, then your fps shouldn't matter. Just make sure both cameras are set to the same
Can I set a rule to make it cut every min or so between different angles throughout the video? My videos are over an hr long, I don't want to rewatch those long videos.
I don't believe there is a way to do that but to make it quicker you can just speed through using the "L" key and if you need to go backwards use the "J" key.
