My main problem with the game is the pacing of it, I wish we had more scenes of agent venom and more of venom too with him turning this world into a giant goob for celestial parasite and I wish the story of it was better too.

This game has far and wide one of the greatest traversal systems in all of gaming. Fine, recency bias is definitely a factor, but to act like this game isn't phenomenal is just stupid
Facts I give it a 6/10 its a ok game but the glitches ai and story and them taking out suit powers make its worst, but the swinging and combat was great also the boss fights..

The main issues that I have with the game that really pissed me off the most were the side content, lack of replayable content, and lack of quality of life features. There is so little to replay in this game that it's stupid. There's no combat challenges outside of the mysteriums, and even then, you can only play those as miles. There's no stealth challenges and no traversal challenges. Nothing. And the enemy bases are pathetic to say the least.
Spider-Man 1 had four kinds of enemy bases, Miles Morales add two kind of enemy bases yet this game only has one. And they aren't even replayable.
And the missing quality of life features really did tick me off. There's nowhere for you to change into miles or Peter after you beat the main story, you can't parry with your spider arms and can only parry with your anti-venom arms even if you're not wearing a symbiote suit, you can't switch the colors of the Symbiote Back to Black and you're just stuck with White Once you beat the main game
There's no podcast player, so if your podcast gets cut off because you go into combat or start of mission, you're just screwed.
There's no selfie option in photo mode, no social media feed, and there's not even a freaking character bios.
I want to give this game a 10 because I really really enjoyed it but the lack of pretty much anything to do and missing content that is stupidly left out just drops it to like an 7-8.

@@TrulyABI also forgot to add this to my comment but they completely downgraded the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man app. In miles morales, you could pick any side mission and choose specific crimes that you wanted to replay at any time. Now once you 100% the game, the only thing the FNSM app can do is to just let you switch between Peter and Miles.
Hopefully Insomniac add more updates to add more content. They are already planning on adding in Mission replay New Game Plus and the ability to change weather in a future update so hopefully they add an update to FNSM app.
And they also need to add more suits. There is not a single animated suit that is not a spider verse suit. Miles gets three suits yet Peter only gets one and it's not even his own suit. The suit selection is questionable sometimes. How the hell are they going to add the Strike Suit yet not the Winter suit?

I hated the fact that the final act of the game Peter becomes a Whiney constantly apologizing loser ON TOP of being nerfed and spending a whole 50 percent of the final act knocked out or wounded or needing assistance. It got so grating and got me so annoyed not befitting the OG and disrespectful AF
Keep in mind this is a 70$ game with no new game plus and downgraded version of the original game.

Just because someone liks the game, it doesn't mean they're biased. People have been vocal about their dislike for this game. The most toxic community is the Arkham community because you can't say anything bad about any of the games except Origins
I’m surprised you didn’t talk about how much insomniac nerfed peter in this game compared to the other games. He can’t do anything in this game he can’t dodge cause his spider-sense is useless for some reason, he can’t lift basically anything now. Like the brick wall, the train and having trouble with a fridge. A damn fridge is just ridiculous that fridge would weigh nothing compared to what he has lifted before in the first game like the crane, mister negative’s tank , the train tracks, the helicopter and so much more it is just terrible with how they portrayed peter this game. This does not feel like someone who has been Spider-Man for 10 years he feels like a joke in this game and they better fix him in the third game if he somehow loss the anti-venom he better be shown how he was in Spider-Man ps4 and not this garbage version that was shown in this game.

the main argument is that he beats the Sinister Six with battle damage
however it was mostly through strategy rather than raw power like in rhino and scorpion’s case
he only won that fight because of the environment and rhino and scorpion fighting each other the whole time
peter even admitted to rhino being stronger than him and that he had to use his speed and strategy to beat him
this is also backed up in miles’s game where he’s knocked unconscious by Rhino when he’s not in a shipyard
and in rhino’s character bio, peter states that he brought him to a near death state and it took him 2 weeks to recover despite his accelerated healing
scorpion is just as fast as Peter, nearing almost killing him
if the fight was fair and rhino and scorpion were working together, peter likely would’ve died
as scorpion is just as fast as him with rhino being straight up miles’s

no one complained how in the first game peter got trapped under the terminals by mister negative for far longer
anti-venom has all the powers of the symbiote with none of the drawbacks and peter goes relative to venom

Doc ock fights a heavily fatigued peter one who has 14 broken not to mention he broke more of Peters bones after he just got done fighting a bloodlusted Lee and he could barely stand up at feast the only reason he was able to still fight was because of his determination and the thought of losing aunt may.
When it comes to his durability he is very inconsistent in sm2 he can got from getting smacked around by a buliding sized sandman but then go flying backwards from a hit that mj a normal person took head on it makes no sense if that hit can send peter flying then mj should be dead but if doesn’t kill mj then it should not be able to do anything to Peter it would be like hitting a wall.
This is not me even mentioning him dying from a knife wound when he got worse wound form doc ock who implied him unlike kraven who just got him in the side it did not even go through him unless you can prove to me that this knife is poisoned which I hear a lot of people bring up despite being there being no proof of it this a nerf.
Plus if you actually read my comment there are plenty more examples just in that alone and that is still not all of them.

Peter was down for 11 seconds under that fridge which is embarrassing when he recovered faster from being hit by the crane which is much much heavier then the fridge plus it was also swinging so that adds even more force and he still got up quicker.
He may be fatigued but he is not nearly as fatigued as he was in ps4 having broken bones and barely being able to walk and he still performs better beating a stronger mister negative then the one in sm2 due to lee not hating Norman anymore which we know anger makes him stronger which miles almost lost to a weaker mister negative with new powers so yeah he got nerfed pretty hard in this game.

honestly i loved the shit out of most of this game, but hearing the director talk about how they deliberately doubled down on the biggest grievance from the first game really pissed me off. thinking you know better than pretty much everybody who shared their opinions on your studios debut superhero game is pure hubris. and not only did they double down on MJ's role in the story and gameplay, they also doubled down on her not being hot. they brought her down from a new york 6 to a new york 4. way to set the precedent for your fans that whenever they have a problem with something, you'll not only bring it back in full force, but make it even more egregious, so that you can farm ESG points on social media by calling people bigots for pointing it out. in SM3 she'll be a literal troglodyte, and if you have anything to say about it you'll be getting a knock on your door from the thought police

My main issue with the game is that the enemies are total hit sponges. Especially the venomized new yorkers. I swear, What feels like 200 fucking hits to take them down, and about 160 to take down a normal grunt, a grunt!!!
Spiderman 2 existence only reminds me that they couldn't even make a good story with real gore like prototype
actually fax, like spider-man 1 for me was a phenomenal experience yet the sequel which had 5 years to cook in the oven barely felt like it added much of anything, they couldve done much more with the mechanics and added way more features but instead we got a rushed game with a terribly paced story and boring side content

I was arguing with someone as to why MJ missions were pointless. I said "We have 2 Spider-Men. Miles could've gone to investigate Conners as well as infiltrate the nest to get the meteor. Everything MJ did in this game from a gameplay standpoint, Miles could've done. MJ was more pointless than anything ESPECIALLY in the final act of the game."

I want to say that the arc of the symbiotic suit from Insomniac is very cowardly and childish, because there are no serious consequences from the black suit, instead Parker did it, he was rude to his friends (and he was generally right and spoke the facts), strangled Kraven a little and beat Morales a little not at full strength (because Parker realizes that this is Miles, his friend, and he is subconsciously holding back)!

I gotta agree here. I hated how much they dumbed down the game. The gadgets and powers are all just spammy aoe attacks and the traversal has become simplified. Its just flying now.
I can literally glide across the whole map without web swinging once which is crazy but I kinda like it lol.
I just finished the game I really enjoyed it. Just wish we had more content after revealing we’re going to get carnage! The only bug I had was my spider man turning into a white cube and swinging around
If we compare Peter from Spiderman and spiderman 2 , You can see that Peter from spiderman 2 CANT DO ANYTHING UNTIL MILES SHOWS UP TO HELP. WHEN IN FIRST GAME HE DID ALL THE PROBLEMS SOLO

Spider-Man PS4 I watched all the behind the scenes, all the interviews and thought Brian Intihar and the rest of the team are the man. But after hearing Brian say he doesn't give a shit I lost all respect for insomniac and won't be buying anything they make again.
Thr combat is not as smooth. Dodging and parry feel off. I miss the autonomy of the gadget wheel, too. The special attacks in this take away from the characters, just like Iron Mans Spidey suit undermined Peter in the MCU. The wings are a nice touch. The city is great. But the game holds your hand too much. Prompts for absolutely everything and the bugs keep breaking whatever immersion i feel.

I agree with everything you said, and another think I dislike about the game is the suits. Insomniac started giving us original suits that no one ever asked for as if they were doing a fashion show, all of their original designs look over designed and just bad in general. They should have given us all the Spider-Man 1 suits back plus new comic suits. Another thing I dislike is the gadgets being removed like the electric webs or the web traps (whatever the name was) and the web bomb. The gadgets in this game are basically just there for players to spam and gain no satisfaction from. The old gadget wheel had a variety of gadgets you could use and each one was unique. Spider-Man 2's release was a disappointment compared to Spider-Man PS4's in 2018.

Honestly, i understand wanting to make Mary Jane a hero, but if you want to do that, do it in a way that is consistent with the character. Having her beat up symbiotes and deadly hunters is just wrong.
If he believes you don't need superpowers to be a hero, then you should also know that you don't need to beat down bad guys to be a hero. Having a overpowered gun and the ability to sneak past hunter already puts her in the realm of superheroes like black panther (stealth) and Tony stark (weapons).
You could emphasize her impact by writing a greater story,
Say, everyone hates spiderman after he gets the black suit. His public perception is damaged beyond repair, even after he ditches the suit.
Mary jane goes through a lot of opposition trying to get public perceptions to change, especially because spiderman can't do his job properly and save lives, now that everyone is out to get him.
She pulls it off and changes public perception, even putting herself in harms way to get compelling evidence to back up her claim.
People praise her relentless effort and spiderman is forever indebted to her, now knowing how much the perception of people means to him, strengthening his resolve to forever be the friendly neighborhood spiderman.
Simple, not that hard to come by. It's a basic plot of a detective trying to clear his client of wrong doing. And even though its cliche, it works. Maybe even have Jay Jonah Jameson be the one to accuse Spiderman of being the same as venom, unintentionally mistaking the two as the same, given their similarities, but using it to push the propaganda that spiderman is a manace..🤦🤦i mean, all the ground work is already there.
Also you could use the opportunity to make spiderman beat up some cops😂, like make him commit a serious offense as a symbiote that makes the public turning against him really believable and make the player play it.
This way you can satisfy your angenda to defund the police by getting them beat them up instead of outrightly removing them from the game. And at the same time you can support the agenda to better equip the police, cause if they were, they'll be better prepared to handle crime of this scale.
That's how you appeal to both sides of the political space without leaning too much in one direction.

I have mixed feelings about your review, I will agree about some bugs spoiling the gameplay such as crime events, Quick time events without the ability to fail, with MJ I have mixed feelings and the new Miles outfit in my opinion is not the worst.
I will skip the topic of bugs because some are hopeless and I hope they will fix them.
For that I will bring up the topic of MJ. Don't get me wrong I also think she is too op but on the one hand I am somewhat able to understand Bryan Intihar.
First of all, people complained terribly about the MJ missions in the first game.... look from the gamedev side the developers had to work hard after all to make a section that has its own mechanics and in the end they were all spat with venom by fans.
Secondly, here we have a clash between the guy who cares more about the storyline versus people who care about the gameplay itself. You can't make everyone happy at once. I'm more on the storyline side than the gameplay itself so in my opinion it's good that Mary Jane had her role here.
In addition, I think it's a bit of revenge on the part of the devs for some toxic fans.

Besides, anyone can write a story about something that is the opposite of their nature. A hypocrite can write a story about how revenge is wrong. A good person can write a story about living as a murderer. Human traits have nothing to do with creating a story.
