Ipad Air VS Ipad Pro Student Review (iPad Air 4 vs iPad Pro 2021)
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 12. 06. 2024
- This year, Apple released the new iPad Pro equipped with the new M1 chip. It looks awfully similar to the new iPad Air that was also released a few months prior, but underneath there are many differences. As students, we don't have a ton of extra change lying around, so what we spend our money on really matters. Is the new iPad Pro an absolute no-brainer or is the iPad Air still good enough for students? We bought and tested both so that you don't have to.

I had a 10th gen iPad czcams.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price thatâs about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.
This was the EXACT review I needed on these devices. You got straight to the point and addressed everything us students thought and care about. Subscribed.
Never realized how useless the pro is for the average student đ Appreciate your honesty in this consumerist society
Yea and if u want to get an iPad Pro I would go with the iPad Pro 2020 cuz the 2021 update they have on the iPad Pro is rlly useless for a student.

@@oyinolubayo7079 this^^ unless you want to keep your iPad Pro for 8 years (which you probs wonât letâs be honest) get the slightly older iPad Pro. itâs wayyyy better compared to the iPad Air
@@mohammedb4ig wait can u elaborate more. When u say âolder iPad Proâ do u mean the latest one orâŠ? I mean I have the iPad Pro 2020 and I am planing on keeping it for a while, I donât think itâs necessary to change to the 2021 one as I do not rlly see a difference.
@@oyinolubayo7079 iPad Pro M1 is gonna last a very long time. I give it 8-10 years of software updates. The 2019 iPad Pro that came out before it will probably have another 5 years of updates before going out of support. 2019 iPad Pro is better imo cause you can find it for a lot cheaper than the new iPad Air.

I think something major being overlooked is the extreme screen real-estate opened up by the 12.9 in iPad Pro. I had an older iPad before I upgraded this year. Looking at the 11in bs the 12.9in at best buy, the 12.9in just made so much more sense. The availability of having more space to fit notes on my PowerPoints, on top of being able to run a second note for any questions I have during lecture has been an absolute game changer for my studying and grades.
Is there a major difference between 12.9 inches 4th and 5th generation ? And which one do you have? Does it take a lot of space having your textbooks as pdfs on your ipad?â„ïž
@@hammoudehhafez7993 I would buy the 5. generation because of the M1 chip. This will be better to keep it fast for the next years
A 12.9 inch ipad air would be a game changer. Its closer to the feeling of writing on an A4 paper
I am writing notes on iPad since 9,7 iPad Pro. 12,9 iPad is USELESS for notes writing - too bit to write on it (paper notebooks for writing are A5, not A4), too clunky to carry around, impossible to hold with one hand. Probably good for artists, but useless for lecture notes.
@@antonsrandomstuff not useless at all.. significantly better, you have a lot more space to write down notes.. itâs way better for watching content. not only that, it only makes it slightly less portable and just adds a bit of weight.. when you are writing digital notes a4 or a5 doesnât matter.. the bigger the better
Guys, well done on being usefully critical. I've watched a ton of reviews and they are really glorified advertisements. this has been refreshing and informative to watch.
Finally! such an honest review! I got the iPad Air 4 64 GB and it is more than enough for my PhD classes and creating digital artwork with procreate!
Do you have photos on your ipad?
hey i have the almost same review, alot of book pdfs, note taking and procreate. how is 64gb going for you?
@@nandinii4259 you could get the air with 64gb and also get mini portable ssd that has 256gb for 40$ or 128gb for even less, and then overall spend less
I would go for more than 64GB if you plan on keeping it for 5 years. Apple makes lots of upgrades and you want to account for that. But it sucks air doesnât make a 128GB one :(
do you think the 128 GB is enough for someone who wants to have a lot of games, digital arts, and other apps?
Just bought the iPad Air 4, 64gb version yesterday and Iâm more than satisfied. I use GoodNotes 5 for note taking and I know that the storage on this iPad is more than sufficient for my university work.

I know heaps of people have been saying this already but hands down! This is the best and realest review I have ever watched. Everything that I am concerned about was clearly addressed in this video. Cheers to your channel! You helped me decide on what iPad I should get for uni! Thank you so much! Stay safe âșïž
The intro made me subscribe. Immediately. I love the energy and way you talk, so capturing and intelligent!
This was genuinely a phenomenal review. Thank you.
Thank-you for such an honest and open review! It's so hard to find in this day and age, and I appreciate that you haven't littered it with hard-to-spot advertising. I brought myself the iPad Air, 64gb, cellular and I'll be using either an external ssd or icloud storage for anything further, though I doubt I'll take up more storage than what's available.
While this video is very useful for some people, I believe you missed a key demographic. Engineering students. I am an engineering student and the LiDAR sensor has completely changed how I use my iPad. If you do anything with cad modeling the LiDAR sensor allows you to take a pre-existing object and make an accurate cad file in seconds. The AR capabilities also cannot be understated since you can project you cad models into the real world for scale. The iPad Pro 11 inch is pretty much required for an engineering student in my eyes, and the 12.9 inch for a mechanical, civil, or engineering design student. Other than that, this video was very informative!
Good to know, because I obviously donât know the plight of the engineer student, I hope they all see this comment :)

Thanks for the review, I got the iPad Pro 256gb because I do a lot of art with photo bashing and that extra storage is really nice! It replaced my old MacBook and itâs way lighter and more portable. So itâs a good substitute for people who do work on the side too!

nice review! I like how calm you are while talking and yet funny and entertaining at the same time. It's just straight to the point and nice explanation as well!
This helped me so much! Thank you I have been going back and forth with my decision and you help me make it!
Amazing review! So glad I stumbled across this channel as an incoming grad student in the health professions. I intend on using the iPad primarily for school use (while I'm in school) but also am interested in venturing into a personal creative space with it and continuing to use it for work/self-study years after I graduate. I'm on the fence between iPad Pro 128GB and 256GB.....I'll be getting the apple pencil and free air pods (student deal) but I'll still have an old MacBook Pro as my "primary device" I guess. I also think using Microsoft office to upload documents and stuff will help with storage, but I'm still unsure which way to go.
THANK YOU! I've been binging these videos trying to make a decision and this is the first one that was actually helpful. Even though I'm just graduating and not planning on going back to school, this helped me to really assess my needs and make a more informed decision.
You answered absolutely all my questions dude. Great job!!
thank you mike and marty. you two saved my life đ sooooo helpful đđđđ
LMAOOO the way he keeps saying useless is just too funny to me since in reality it is useless and more money unless you want to splurge or have the money then go for it
I fit the first category the most, but I really wanted the 12.9 display. Also jump to M1 is huge, so ended it going with the latest ipad 12.9 instead of an older version. It is so much more expensive compared to 11 inch pro for no reason, but I am sucker for big displays.
Just an amazing video. Loved the conclusion and your thoughts on this matter. Such a good sound on the video and your voice, and make it easy to follow
Bro! Best review video. Never seen someone talk about useless features. Good stuff man!
I've been debating for a while now but I've decided to go with an Air as i will only use it for note taking, procreate and occassional media consumption. They're both amazing Ipads but the price did it for me. I do plan on long term use but i don't think the storage will be a problem :) while i might start a small business or use it for work i still doubt it will be a problem as I do a lot of management for that on my computer. This is an amazing video and helped me make my final decision of getting an Air :)
In the video, because debating on which one, he said the colors are useless. But since I'm sure I'm going to buy an ipad air 4, i don't know which color to take, I'm between the space grey (very grey) and light blue, which one did you buy?
HOWS IT GOING :O iâm gonna buy one in 3 weeks for the exact same reasons!!
Great review. Planning to get my son one for school and have no clue what would be enough. I knew 64 was probably a no so was going to get the 256 Air. Never considered that the 128 Pro was practically the same price so that was valuable info from this video. Now I do hope the 128 is enough lol. He's in 2nd year engineering.
Iâve been looking for this kind of review. Thanks alot
thank you, this has got to be one of the most helpful videos I've come across
This review was great! Totally agreed with your opinion on the "useless" features. I chose the iPad air 256 because I want that extra wiggle room but I want my device to be light weight. I'm going digital for grad school so having an iPad that can store my digital textbooks and notes is perfect.
I was able to snag an iPad Pro 2nd Gen 128GB Wifi + Cellular barely used from a nice old russian man for 700$, came with a high quality case, another case+keyboard, and great glass screen protector. and your video perfectly explains what students are looking for in an ipad. I chose to look for the pro model since I still wanted that option for creativity and flare lol.
THANK YOU! Ive watched quite a few comparison videos but this was definitely the most useful video. I know exactly what to get now.

am mostly using my ipad for uni but found the 10.5 ipad pro 2017âs screen I had was too small and not enjoyable to use for note taking, given that I often split screen my note taking app with google or even with the live online lectures. Iâm a current M2, and although I could get away with the iPad Air at 64GB, it would be too close for my comfort. The benefits of the Pro (I use the 2021 12.9) are much better display with promotion and XDR, better speakers, FaceID because when I use it Iâm sitting down and donât have a mask on, extra RAM (8GB on mine as a 256GB model) makes a big difference in app refresh rates, and the significantly more powerful M1 for longevity. If youâre already spending $700 on an iPad, you may as weâll spend as much as you can to maximize your purchase. I imagine Iâll have this in to residency. The other deciding factor for me was the extra screen size makes such a difference if I am watching a lecture while having Notability open at the same time. To each their own, but the Pro models have so many extra little features that really start adding up.
thank you! The first solid pro/con assessment on the choice between these two

Most of the things you said is also what I felt like as a 2nd year college student. Most of this features is something I won't really need as I only ever used my Macbook or Ipad for school related purposes. I used my phone for everything else. So why would I need this extra features anyway. My main concern like you said have always been storage & power plus battery life as well. I was also pissed that in Ipad Air only have 64gb & 256gb because I think 128gb should be what's perfect. But actually I was wrong too because 64gb is actually just enough. I store most of my projects & presentation in my Macbook anyway and only have my modules, notes & other simple homework in my Ipad so 64gb is actually more than enough. I'm glad I went for the smaller storage & save money to used to buy different accessories for this gadgets.

Excellent video. Very useful information by simply focusing on essential facts. And a fun personality. đđŸđ
imo, 64 isn't enough for anybody, let alone students with lots of notes. 128 is the best option, but it might be pushing it a little, depending on your usage. for me, 256 is the sweet spot. you'll never have to ration or worry about storage, but it's not an obscene amount, you know?
yeah HAHAHA same 256 for me is safe, I like comfort and flexibility I got the 256 gig air
64gb is enough if u consider paying for icloud/google drive and saving all your stuff there, and i can access my notes on my phone too which is a bonus
something I'm gonna do since I only have 64 gb is just uploading all my notes to google drive when I'm probably not gonna go back to them and then deleting them locally if that helps anyone who doesn't have a lot of storage.
@@ardinisf that's true! however i'm just a lazy student hahah đ and my ipad is my primary school device for notes, which is why i don't need that all the time! my notes are kept either on goodnotes or notion, and my files on google drive, so it works out for me and my study methods :3
