It's Here! IKEA Tradfri Color Changing Smart Bulb Review
Vložit
- čas přidán 8. 08. 2024
- It's your early holiday gift - the just-released full-color TRÅDFRI smart LED bulb from IKEA! Comes pre-paired with a cool remote to start having fun with colors immediately and works with the other IKEA products...and does work with Philips Hue, too.
UPDATE: IKEA has updated the TRADFRI app and decent palette of colors can be chosen from their app. No traditional color wheel or more in-between colors, but it's a start.
These full-color bulbs are now listed on the IKEA site - www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/pro...

I always wanted to go for the brothel look!
nobody will stop you. how is business running? :D
Do i need to buy the Philips hue bridge to use all the colours of the rainbow?
I'm Addicted to this channels
Great help, thank you so much
Top right corner in the TRÅDFRI app lets you change color
Very helpful, thanks
Hey which of the bulbs works with the Hektar Work Lamp??
Got these working with home assistant and looks like the whites are there, and so is red and blue but there is no green. So magenta, orange and a load of other stuff is possible but no cyan or green.
Nice that it works with philips hue!
I got 4 trådfri and its okay. Not as good as the philips hue colors but it is good enough.
Great videos keep it up :)
Thanks!
Is there a way you can make the lights change colour on their own ?
I managed to do it that once when i installed it without connecting it to the hub, i clicked on the arrows on my remote then it started.
But ever since i‘ve paired to the Hub, it does not work
how did he connect the philips app to the light?
How do you set it up for coulers
Dude, kindly explain things through. Are you saying if I. Buy an Ikea bulb and get the Philips Hue App, that I can then use that App with the Ikea product? Don’t imagine that’s true.
Do you know if Hue makes third party bulbs, like those from IKEA's trådfri line, to available to smart home platforms like Smartthings and others?
I know that the 3rd-party bulbs connected to the Hue Bridge definitely do not show up when connected to HomeKit. Haven't specifically tested with SmartThings or other systems but it's certainly possible.
Can you post a link to where you can buy these? Also, where did you say the link to the color handler? "and there's a link to it in the video description"
As mentioned in the video, these are not yet listed for sale on IKEA's website - they appear to only be available in their stores in the moment. Not sure if the "color handler" comment was in this video or the IKEA+Philips Hue video. Here is a link to the IKEA/Philips Hue video, and there is a link to the new SmartThings handler for this bulb in that video's description - czcams.com/video/lU9za1qlego/video.html
Do you know of a way to use alexa with the feit electric homebrite bulbs. I purchased four of them to use with my own setup and I am having buyers remorse as I am at least of of now unable to use them with amazon's alexa.
From what I recall, the HomeBrite line are Bluetooth-only, and there isn't a way for Alexa, or even Google Assistant, to control those. Sometime in the future, when there are devices that can bridge Bluetooth to Wi-Fi easily, then this will probably become possible.
Nice video!
Thank you!
Wait so does the singular bulb work with Alexa and can you change the colour from the app and does the just tradfri plain ld one change colour
The bulb itself only works with a Tradfri hub or other compatible smart light system - for voice control - or you can use it with their physical remotes to change colors, brightness, on/off, etc.
Do they have the RGB lights for GU10 fittings and do they come without the remote?
I don't think so. But, you could always purchase a E27 to GU10 adapter: amzn.to/2OnkyUr I think the RGB bulbs still come with the remote, according to their site.
@@SmarterHomeLife thx u
I am still only finding the ones with a kit...do they sell separately w/o kit yet? If not, that is not a good deal if you're wanting color lighting and none are available by themselves.
At last check, they aren't selling it without the included remote. IKEA thinks a bit differently than most. But maybe they'll change their mind eventually.
I will just go with the proven, albiet more expensive, hue lights. At least I can buy 1 light without the hub if I want. Just bought 4 pack with hub so Ikea just loses my business. Thanks for reply man!
What do you say to siri to go back to warm / normal / original color? White doesn't work and warm-white also doesn't work. Help please ;)
Sonja Taylor set it as a mood and then say the mood name
Would this bulb on its own at the highest brightness setting be ideal for lighting a bedroom?
I'd recommend two of them.
Will the old smartthings handler still work??
Not for this particular bulb, as it's unique from the other bulbs. But someone, however, just created a new handler and there's a link to it in the video description. It's so new that info about it couldn't be included in the video itself.
Where's that link?
Do you know if the ikea Tempe has any?
They had many of them earlier this week. It's not on their site yet so no way to check stock online. Try calling them if it's a far from you - look for the blue light in the Tradfri lighting section :-)
Smarter Home Life ok good to know. I live in Tempe so not too far to get over there.
Do you need the gateway or can I use a Zigbee Adapter?
Nope, not necessarily. The gateway is needed to update firmware but otherwise the bulbs are Zigbee and can -generally- talk to any Zigbee device / controller.
It cannot be updated with the philips hue gateway (once they are working with it)? Thanks!
Hi, I didn’t get the gate way I just use echo plus.
Peter Braisby can you change the colors on the echo plus
I own two of these and use them with Philips Hue bridge. The fact is, they are buggy. They flicker hourly, and if you have a color set for that bulb, it will be reset to the neutral warm white. One of the Ikea Trådfri developers is on Reddit and has said that they've yet to identify the culprit for the flickering, but it's a known issue. There isn't a firmware fix for it currently. The flicker means that the bulb powers off and switches on rapidly, and loses its color setting while doing this.
Had I known about this issue, I would've bought the original Philips bulbs. Frustrating, expected better from Ikea.
Thanks for the feedback.
You just click on the triangle made up of 3 circles and it brings up a selection of colours. No spectrum though.
Correct. They updated the app a few days after the video was made with this new capability.
No, the three circles were in the upper right corner of the app in your video so it was *before* you made the video. I was screaming at my laptop for you to click the circles, lol.
Okay cool I bought a $20 light bulb that I can’t even change the color on without buying a whole kit 😑
I can’t find the color bulbs. Anyone have link?
They've just been added to the IKEA site, here's the link: www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/20353289/
Smarter Home Life thanks
My remote control can't change color settings (the < > buttons).... Is that normal? My lights are paired already, but nothing happens with the < > buttons.
gwent cardx there are 1 color only bulbs
Do you think 2 of these will light up my basic-size room?
What is your basic size room
Aaahahhaha same^
No green?
Green doesn't come thru really "saturated" on the IKEA color bulb.
600 lm..bit low.
Sure. Although relatively bright in-person, from a subjective point of view. Their other smart bulbs without the color feature go up to 1000 lumens.
Yeah. I have several of their bulbs, works nicely. Did not see the RBG ones in the store here yet.
Yeah, they seem to be rolling out somewhat randomly, or they're selling out quickly ;-) What part of the world are you located?
Scandinavia (thus the nickname..) hehe :D The color changing seems pretty quick on the trådfri. I have some OSRAM lightify RBG as well, and it lags pretty quickly when doing the same. Btw, color is supported on Android....
Trådfri is pronounced Troadfree :P
nope, thats the way he pronounce it in the video :)
@D238034 Wow, you're a dick. Overrun by guys like him? Look at your own country, I bet you're American. People are dying due to the lack of healthcare while the rich insurance companies keep racking it in. But your xenophobic self is spreading hate on a smart bulb review. Go get a life you prejudice troll!
I believe it is pronounced: "TRRROAD-free"
looks like he's been keeping a eye on the lights
Acosta Visuals it’s not cool to make fun of someone because of the way look. He’s obviously cross-eyed just remember it can happen to you too
Im not exited enough to give 1 dollar
$35 for 1 bulb with switch.
Sak __ ...thats aible to have multiple colors, can connect to your phone or for example alexa so you can control it with your voice. This tech is still new so don't hate on the price. Its far cheaper than other options like philips hue where you pay about 80$ per bulb.
Please help, what eye do i look at....
Those eyes bug me
Hmm, sorry about that. Would you like to help out with the quite expensive surgery costs to fix them? ;-)
Dude what happened to your face
