- Having my hallway modernized, and bought some ceiling mounted spotlights, really cheap,, so decided I wanted 11 spots in that small hallway.
And then decided I wanted smart bulbs in them,, so to keep the prices down I am going with IKEA TrådFri GU10 bulbs, instead of Philips hue,, ½ prices. Bu I want to control them with the hue App and connect them to the Philips hue HUB.

For 3$ a month, you get an extra weekly "What's UP" update video. Just for my Patrons. The Support I resave on patreon is all used on stuff to make interesting videos on CZcams.
My PlayHouse is a channel where i will show, what i am working on. I have this house, it is 168 Square Meters / 1808.3ft² and it is full, of half-finished projects.
I love working with heating, insulation, Servers, computers, Datacenter, green power, alternative energy, solar, wind and more. It all costs, but I'm trying to get the most out of my money, and my time.
Thank you!! I couldn't pair them for the life of me until this vid
Glad I could help!
I did also have my "fun" with it.
Thank you, it was very usefull info for me🙂
You’re welcome 😊
I love this channel so much.
Hi Hayley
Thank You very much! glad you liked/love the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
got 18 of these around the house, running on Apple HomeKit, works perfect! HK sees the bulbs once they are on the Ikea gateway
Hi Matthew Harris
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
@@BrownRA yeah the ikea gateway is the bridge, you pair them with the gateway/bridge and they get exposed to HK
You can actually take a knife and cut the tape for getting into the packaging. Highly recommended! I also recommend for your channel and channel viewers to get some knowledge on the Google Assistant. I know it’s probably not an appletastic opinion but both the Trådfri and the hue is applicable on the GA. Bonus info. IKEA is now on the board of Zigbee and in the future integration between different manufacturers is expected to better.
Hi Charisma Hornum-Fries
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)

Intstall Hassio in a VM an install deCONZ. You will need to get a dresden elektronik ConBee II. Using this you can control hue and Ikea light sensors etc(ton load of zigbee devices) form one device. And you can set it up with Apple homekit. Also a great community
Hi Morphius

So I have recently refurbished my house and went a little crazy. Some areas use "dumb" LED but others use lamps with hue bulbs, hue being.
I also purchased 2 whole boxes of the previous gu10 tradfri bulbs from IKEA. I had to pair with touch link. But their brightness was more. The 3rd gen version which you have are better for pairing now the software has been sorted. You can't update the IKEA bulbs without their hub
I also have gledopto gu10 RGB in lots of rooms and I purchased 3 rgbcwww led controllers for led strip.
I must say they were easier to pair than IKEA bulbs. All work fine with Alexa and the hue sensors I have.
For white gu10s I will always recommend IKEA ones. For RGB j recommend gledopto and for e27 or b22 it's hue bulbs.
Keep in mind i can only use hue entertainment with hue bulbs only. I have to use 3rd party software for other brands.
Personally I purchased the cheapest IKEA floor standing lamp and used e27 hue around the room with my Philips TV with amb light.
Hi Riyazatron
Thank You very much! I think I am like 70% on smart lights now :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
This video is doing very well because of the Jiggidee Winkidee Stinkitee thing you made :-D
This video is doing TO well,, and there is not the usual watch time, and audiences interaction... Not sure what is going on. I do not think it is the Jiggidee Winkidee Stinkitee thing I made :-D
Hi morton you have definitely got it right about that damn tape it is a pain in the arse !
And a huge 👍👍👍👍👍 on your house renovations i love it ! !

I use Hue in GH and Homekit side by side with over 30 lights, no issues.
Hi Holmes, Spencer Jacob

Thanks!! This really helped a lot!!
You are very welcome! :-)
Morten, you can spend a lot of money, when you install an Iobroker as a virtual machine and control the Tradfry-bulbs over the IoBroker Hue-Adapter together wit the IoBroker yahka-adapter (Homekit-Adapter).
All the devices they not work with Siri you can put in and control over a self-made HomeKit-bridge.
Also you tiny mini plugs (WR01W or OT06, if there have power monitor) can be controlled with IoBroker without any chinese cloud-solutions, also with Siri😉
Hi einarmiger0815
Thank You very much! The plugs has ben firmware hacked with Tasmota I think it is called and I connect to them via Mqtt and through home assistant :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Good morning, Morten, yessss, Tasmota rules!
If you put your Philips Hue hub into Home-Assistant, you can control all your lights and stuff with siri, its working great.
I have done that,, but not yet found out how to get Siri to do that.
My PlayHouse setup homekit in home-assistant and connect your iphone to the homekit hub.
For the price of two, you can typically get Hue whites GU10s for less, and the ambience white version for say 30% more... Given the pairing faff, I'd go with the Hue ones...
The Hue,, is about twices the prices.
@@MyPlayHouse Nope, not in UK... Hue white bulbs are cheaper than Ikea. Their white ambiance bulbs are about 30-40% more.
could exparement with regular LED bulbs and one smart light switch... would also be cheaper then a smart bulb
Yes,, You are right,, I could get a build in thingt to mount inside the on/off switch for about ½ the prices :-/ It would only be able to do on off,, because the bulbs that I took out was not dimmable,, If I wanted to do that. I would have to replace all the bulbs and then the prices would be the same.
Not I think I could make a light show with individual bulbes,, might be cool..
Great idea to make a simple wire so you can easy pair the bulbs. Nowadays IKEA does have a Tradfri COLOR GU10 bulb (part number 804.392.28) for a very good price. In your video you said something that the Tradfri bulbs on a Hue hub are not suitable for voice command. Is this still accurate? Why don't they work with Siri/Alexa/Google?
I have not testet is Siri has become more happy with Ikea through Hue :-/ yet..
Looking good, nice to see some house improvements! :)
A little here and a little there,, we are getting there. Thanx
Home-Assistant is an awesome open source smart hub, it can controll all your stuff in your house.
Hi DKAutomater
Thank You very much! glad you liked the video :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
Hey DKAutomater, check out the custom component Adaptive Lighting, makes it even better :)
Can you Please suggest me A HOLDER for it. 3:50. I don't find Anything like that...
This is just parts from a spot light.
@@MyPlayHouse Then what should I use. For the Holder I dint get anything like that...
nice video 1 question please. can you control the bulbs seperately aswell. Like if you wanted at night could you have only bulbs 8,9,10 and 11 come on? and i am going to get rgb ones so if i did could i make each bulb a different colour? like maybe bulbs on left room green and bulbs on right side of room red? thanks
Yes I can turn on one or five or teen,, as I please,, But at night you just want them to turn on 40% or something.
ok thanks thats what i wanted to know @@MyPlayHouse
Innr is slightly more expensive (10 DKK), but still way cheaper than Hue and it should just work with Hue :)
I think that better compatibility is comming,, the companies has agree on agreeing on a standart, and opening up.
Did the same. They are crap. After about 1 year the first bulb failed continuously blinking. Since then I have failing bulbs every (few) week(s). The first replacement just failed.
I have not replaced any yet!!
interesting, I just replaced all my G10's with LED's about a month ago, my old ones were Halogen :( very hot and expensive to run...
These are 5W,, and less if you dim them down :-) and the Philligs Hue it setup to not use full blast, at night when you take a little pii brake from sleeping :-)
Take a serious look at Homeassistant and go with sonoff tastmota, you will save a lot of money and time....
Hi Horst Zimmermann
Thank You very much! Those plugs I showed is running tasmota and in Home assistant :-)
Thank you for watching! :-)
It works with hue bridge, ang Google home
It does works with hue bridge, I do not know about Google home
Hello! Can you please tell me the ikea part number of those gu10 spots? There are the simple ones with only dimmable function with part number 604.200.41 and the white spectrum ones (you can change also color temperature) with part number 904.086.03.
these are the color temperature ones..
Hopefully they will last long
I am sure they will :-)
I mean, just put a Zigbee dimmer in and get the dimmable lights for like 5 bucks 3 lamps.
Why do you want 11 individually dimmable spots? That's a bit crazy :D
But I have lots of fun options.
@@MyPlayHouse yeah I mean I just buy the color changing ones. Because I want a wider ranges of color change than the color changing ones can deliver.
But I would consider myself addicted 🤗
hi, can you tell me please the dimension of the bulb, the ones written on the box, D and L please, the D is 50 mm I suppose and the L is 57 mm or 54 mm? I can't find this info nowhere, i think it's written only on the box. Thanks
Sorry I do not have any free ones,, they are all mounted.
Do the bulbs have their own WiFi connection or do you have the tradfri gateway device set up? Do you not need the gateway hub to set these up ?
To be really smart,, they need a hub,, they can use a switch without the HUB,, but that was not why you got these.
it should have worked fine, from what i'm told google does not have that problem
Well I have just gotten a google thingy,, so maybe I will find that out..

You can propoly do that,,if all the lights are going in the same room,, but naming them becomes hard.
Thank you for watching! :-)
Will it work with colour LEDs to change colour?
Yes on the Philips Hue App,, you can change color on IKEA color bulbs as well,, I did that in a previous video..
Hello! Can you tell me please, the ikea smart bulbs gu10 can be paired to hue smart app directly, or do I need a hue bridge or ikea Bridge? Thx
The bulbs are controlled using a radio signal,, your phone does not do this,, so a Bridge is used,, to bring the comments from the "internet/network" over to radio signals.
Some of the new Philips hue bulbs, also does bluetooth,, then you can (they are expensive)
You can pass the Trådfri Bulbs through to HomeKit using "HomeBridge" and the Plugin called "homebridge-hue". You can run HomeBridge in your Sonology Nas in Docker. github.com/nfarina/homebridge and github.com/ebaauw/homebridge-hue
Thank You,, there are so many options..
So if I want more than 10 bulbs, cheap IKEA ones, I dont need Tradfri Gate, just Hue Bridge, reset them all and add to Hue...? Is that right? Is this working on all types ikea smart bulbs?
It will also work with just one IKEA bulbs,, and all of there other bulbs,, spots was just what I needed :-)
My PlayHouse what about apple homekit? Is that working with ikea bulb connect to hue? I just found actual info about ikea gate- there is no 10 bulb, but “newly” 50 bulb connect at once to the gate... it muxh better then 10 :)
Those smart devices (non K type style) shouldn't be used with your happy Danish socket outlets. The earth isn't connected so if a fault occurs any metal objects see you as a path to ground.
These plugs are becoming more and more normal here.
I think the Danish sockets have lost the battle already better to switch those out and keep the plug
Hello! I did it and it works sooo good. But i have a question, how do you do to use it with homekit when the tradfri lights are on a hue bridge? Thanks
I did not get that working :-(
Well if you use Home Assistant as Hub you can pair them to a USB-Stick which does Zigbee and export any device you like via an emulated Apple Home Kit :)
@@MyPlayHouse have a look at my answer if you still want that :)
Are they work locally ? for example if I lost internet can I still control them ?
Yes,, no internet is needed.
@@MyPlayHouse great thanks 👍
Can you adjust the colour temperature for those?
No,, only britnes,, I got some other IKEA ones for the kitchen,, that can do colour temperature.
Hey Morten. If you need to pair more IKEA bulbs to hue, use "Touchlink" in the app called Hue Essentials. Will work every time.
Regards, a fellow Dane.

Gracias!

Hi, this idiot here
Well both might do the job,, and it is not as if it can not be undone or redone :-) I do not know what is best.
We have 11 ikea fuga kits in our household, about 40 gu10 bulbs. You are not alone in being an idiot 😀

why do you call everything stupid?
To save you from more colorful language :-)
