    When assessing any dive watch, comparisons to the iconic Rolex Submariner are inevitably going to pop up. But the other day in the Time+Tide office, Andrew happened to be wearing his brand new Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Bronze while Matt's trusty Rolex Submariner 114060 was dangling from his wrist. So they decided to put their two watches head to head.
    It’s easy to cry “apples and oranges”, with one being a thick-lugged steel watch that epitomised modern-day Rolex up until its latest 2020 evolution, and the other being a solid hunk of bronze nostalgia built by the crown’s younger brother. But there are actually a lot of things to learn by analysing these two dive watches.
    In this video, Andrew takes us deeper into these two respective watches than you’d expect. From the way the case material feels against your skin, to the story behind Tudor’s twin logos, to the level of shivers that get sent down his spine every time he spins the rotating bezels. Considering the price difference between the two watches, it’s interesting to note that there’s not really any perceivable disparity in quality.
    As for the age-old debate of Tudor vs Rolex, it’s clear that Tudor are no longer “just a cheaper Rolex". The vintage style cues remain, but they have evolved a signature appeal of their own - one that compels you to wear the watch for entirely different reasons. If you were actually tossing up between these two watches to purchase, this video should help you make up your mind

    Great comparison @ Time+Tide Watches. Just one small correction there: Tudor BB 58 comes with COSC certified enhanced with +4/-2 secs per day accuracy, whilst Rolex's superlative precision is +2/-2 secs per day. Rolex only has 2 secs per day advantage.

    • @pensforgts
      @pensforgts Před 3 lety

      @@Timeandtidewatches its all about giving the alloy its final shape and grain size. grain size determines the characteristics of the alloy. the smaller and tighter the grain size better quality and stronger final product. this can be obtained by forging. on the other side its a time and energy consuming process. extrusion are easier to produce and they dont have the fine grain sizes, this makes the alloy more prone to break. we prefer forged bronze and later machined by a good quality cnc. i am sure tudor got a very good cnc but i am not sure about the alloy. i need to see the specs. do they provide you with alloy specs with the watch? Bronze is a living alloy unlike steel, we all love some character on our watches. bronze is the chracter and fits dive watches as we all know all ships propelled with huge bronze propellers :)

      Uh, it's a pretty fantastic spec for the money regardless of hype.

      You have a point. But Rolex is a bigger culprit pricing their watches way above what it was 5 to 8 years back. A decade ago, a no date pre owned sub BnP all in could be purchased for maybe 5 to 6k USD.
      Now it’s nearly impossible to get one at that price. You’d have to be Ethan Hunt from Mission Impossible to get one from the AD itself 😂

    Shield and rose explanation?…. Who told you that bollocks? 🤣🤣🤣….. let’s forget the fact he called it Tudor, had a love for England and English history, lived in England and first formed Rolex as an English limited company, as well being an Anglophile…. Don’t let your Aussie prejudices over bare your history mate….. petty minded muppet

    You compared the OLD Rolex vs the NEW Tudor …which you put your own money into! . Dreadful video for that reason alone.
    Like comparing an old Rolls Royce with a new (BMW engine) Bentley. You cant. They’re not “sisters”. One is a man the other is a child wanting to be a man.

    I have worn my bronze 58 24/7 for 3 weeks and my wrist is now grey on the inside of the wrist. Not the outside. The caseback is not bronze, I believe it’s pvc Coated steel, however, I have left the sticker on the case back just in case.
    Here’s an iCloud link to a photo of my grey wrist
