I love listening to him. But you can't forget the scenes between Olivier and Tony Curtis as well.

He's wrong about that scene. Its woody strode and kirk Douglas that are staring at each other as the two other gladiators are fighting. Not ireland. Ireland is in the arena fighting.

...The personal circumstances of my life came to such an edge, that expiring physically I would not welcome, but at the same time would not object... as I believe, there in Heavens the most Dear to me Person, my Mama is waiting for me... And there we can embrace each other and be together... And be in eternal harmony...

Gladiators heritage is the one of the despicable slavery... but I also sometimes think, that it might have been the path for freedom, if someone was too tired of the world around, of all the mundane hustle and bustle, of the useless existence...

It's Woody Strode sitting opposite Douglas in the Pen not John Ireland. And that is his favourite scene? Clueless

And what is the better way to make such an EXIT, than at the arena, with all that mean, detestable populace around... to ascend onto Heavens... I mean charging forth with blazing vigor and determination at this corrupt lascivious swamp and, probably, most likely not winning this battle... But, also not getting bogged down in all that morass...
