J.S.Bach - TRIO SONATA #1 in Eb Major (BWV 525)

- In this video I play the first Trio Sonata in Eb major (BWV 525) by J.S.Bach on my Hauptwerk organ. The sample set is Rotterdam by Sonus Paradisi.
Bach wrote 6 trio sonatas for the organ. They were made as pieces to strengthen the organ technique of his eldest son, Wilhelm Friedemann. The sonatas were written when Bach was well established. The didactic purpose is clear but as regular music pieces they are stunning. They sound easy to play but are definitely not. The delicacy is tricky and requires a good overview on the 3 independant parts that intertwine constantly.
The collection was put together in Leipzig in the late 1720s and contained reworkings of prior compositions by Bach from earlier cantatas, organ works and chamber music as well as some newly composed movements. The sixth sonata, BWV 530, is the only one for which all three movements were specially composed for the collection.

03:37 2 - Adagio
11:22 3 - Allegro

All the best,
PHILIP - Hudba
Good to hear a non-rushed performance of this beautiful Trio Sonata! Some people just try to play these as fast as possible…
Thank you so very much Richard. The first movement is often played in quite a fast tempo but I have always had trouble to feel at home in that rushed feeling (as least to me)
Totally agree! The moderate tempo makes it really more enjoyable and relaxing to hear it.
Sublime interprétation !!! Immense BRAVO. Philippe 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏
Des sonorités toujours très belles. Merci infiniment 🎵💫🎶🎶💫🎵💫🎶♥️♥️♥️
Je suis toujours très heureux de lire vos mots d’encouragement. J’essaie de faire de mon mieux et je suis très reconnaissant pour votre soutien!

That is great to hear Linda. So glad you liked it!
Fantastic dear Pilip, Bach is the greatest composer of all time!
He sure is!!
Thank you Philip - a beautiful interpretation
Thank you so very much Michael. How nice of you to write that!
Lovely Philip the sound seems like it is being played in a huge church with a great reverberation -your postings are always delightful.
Michael! I am so grateful of your support! I hope you know that!
@@philipaggesen I do dear man anything I can do to help you is from my heart - God's peace and blessing be upon you Philip.
Sublime and beautifully played. I wish I could play it but it is beyond me. Still I may try to learn the 3rd movement. In NZ we have an organists development program coming up and much to my amazement I have been selected. Thank you for a wonderful rendition
That is awesome to hear Stuart. If you just practice slowly and try to approach music from different angles you'll develop immensely. Very grateful to read your encouraging comment. Thank you 🙏🏻
Perfection!!! Your performance on this is probably one of my favorites, right up there with the Bach passacaglia and fugue. Thank you.
YAY!! Thank you for taking the time to write such kind words! It made me quite happy!
Beautiful Music !!! Bravo Maestro !!! 🎧🎼🥰👌🌹 Thank you Philip !!! 💜🙏😘✨👍
Thank you Irina!!
I love the Diapason timbre in the first movement. I always tend to lean towards 8 and 4, 8 and 2 and moderate use of the mutations, but you approached it quite differently and it works rather well, thanks for that.
I have always found that a mild Principal 8,4 sound fits the 1. movement in a nice way. Then when I get to the 3. movement I tend to add a bit more Principals as well as get 2' stops.
@@philipaggesen You really make it work, well done!
Really a great recording, Philip. Full of vitality. I find the quite broad and fundamental registrations of the outer movements exciting. Quite unusual for my ear, but very convincing.
Thank you so much Nils-Ole. Always great hearing from you!
Prachtig.
Thank you so much!!
Was für eine wundervolle Musik! Vielen Dank dafür, lieber Philip❤️
Lieber Ramon. Danke danke danke sehr!!
@@philipaggesen sehr gerne mein lieber Freund❤️
Extraordinary interpretation! your virtuosity, dear Master, is absolutely outstanding!
Very grateful to read your encouraging comment Carlo. Thank you 🙏🏻
Some of the very best music ever written and beautifully executed. I’m in awe!
It truly is great music by the master! So kind of you to write that! 😌
Nydelig!
Tusind tak Magnus!
This is just amazing. Must be the best and cleanest I heard so far. I basically play this piece, but that last section is so hard to get perfect I never dare perform it, any tips on that front? Anyway: the playing here leaves me speechless: it is very hard to keep well controlled while playing this piece!
Hi Tim. Wow, so great to get such kinds words from you. My best tip would be to play the parts that are tricky in a slow tempo. After that, then play the sections with a "freeze" on different beats in the tricky bar. That's what I do!
@@philipaggesen Thanks so much for the tips! I really need to get the courage to play it at a recital soon (I always chicken out when sending in my program): its just such a great piece, is it not! Are you going to record all six?
💜💜💜
Thanks! ☺️
