    Good review, very articulate and thought out, I have ordered one of these to run into my Marshall's extension cab, the attenuator on the Clean sounds ideal for Home practice.

      Thanks! Let me know what you think of the amp once you spend a little time with it 🤘

    Thanks Colin. You know your video was useful when viewers go: "Shit. Perhaps I should get THAT one.."
    And that's just what I'm now thinking! I was almost sold on the Boutique.
    Thanks for doing a direct out recording.

      I appreciate that Matt! I also have the AC version and plan to shoot a video with that one as well. I don’t personally have experience with the boutique, but I have considered trying some of the other flavors because of how impressed I’ve been with both the AC and the clean. Thanks for watching man!

      Hey Colin. I think I'll try this clean model first. I say try.. In Europe we have Thomann music who will let you buy gear with an unconditional 30-day return policy, which is pretty amazing really. They even pay the cost of returning anything. You just have to open the boxes very carefully and keep everything in perfect condition.

      Awesome man! These little amps are solid, particularly for the price. Enjoy it! 🤘

    Mv50 has own cab-simulator for di recording Or need to set IR on daw?

    • @colinrich8456
      @colinrich8456  Před 3 lety +2

      It has a built in cab-simulator, which I used for this video.

    I’ve been interested in getting on of these for recording. Do you run in cab simulation, and if you did run a cabinet with it, what would you recommend? Thank you🙏🏻

      @colinrich8456  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey man! In this video I only ran it in cab simulation, which I think works excellent. I’ve used it live and in studio that way with absolutely no issues at all. I’ve run it with a cab several times and that’s great too, but I prefer the convenience of running it direct with the cab sim. I hope that helps!

    Man, i sold a Vox AC15c1, but i miss the way it took delays and modulations pedals so well. Now, i need an amp that have a good clean sound and accept delays and modulations so weLl like the AC15. Do you know if the MV 50 takes delays/modulations pedal well like the AC 15? (specially clean sounds)

    • @colinrich8456
      @colinrich8456  Před 3 lety +1

      Hey Stephan! Truthfully I think the MV50 takes delays, verbs, and modulation effects incredibly well. The MV50 has more clean headroom than the AC15c1, so it helps those effects shine through beautifully. In this video I’m playing the MV50 Clean model which is based more on a Fender blackface voicing. If you’re partial to your ac15 tones, the MV50 AC will have a similar voicing as it’s modeled after an AC30. I have both models and they’re both great, I run them in stereo as often as I can!

    I would be interested to know what and who's pedals you used for the recording?

    • @colinrich8456
      @colinrich8456  Před 3 lety

      Sure thing Ray! Lightest overdrive is the Paul Cochrane Tim, then I later stack the Benson Preamp after the Tim. Delay is a Boss DD500 on the vintage digital setting, reverb is a TC Electronic HOF mini with the “big room with a view” tone print, which is a modulated hall type verb.

    Same here. I have been going direct to the PA when no amp available.

    • @colinrich8456

      It’s certainly more viable now than ever. Loads of solid options these days! I still love my amps though.

    Really good video but the MV50 Clean is a different amp to the MV50 AC. There are five of them and the Clean and AC are two different amps.

      I know it man. Not sure why I kept saying it wrong, but didn’t notice it until I was editing. I added captions/titles to correct my ridiculous mistake. To be clear, this video is for the Clean version.

    Hello
    Can an active DI be used? Or do you necessarily need a passive di? Is the signal output level too low?
    Can I only use a mono di or do I have to use a stereo di?
    Have you tried ? Palmer PDI 09? If so what do you think?
    Thank you

    • @colinrich8456
      @colinrich8456  Před rokem

      You can use active or passive DIs with no issue. You can absolutely use a mono DI. This unit only has a single output anyway. It can be split into two using a TRS cable, but it’s just the same signal twice and not true stereo. I used that Palmer DI once and it worked well!

    I ordered one of these (MV50 clean) hoping that I don't have to carry an amp or cab anymore cause we don't have enough space in the car when we go for a gig... I am just hoping that it works well with my pedalboard in DI mode... (i am sure it sounds fantastic with OD pedals when connected to a speaker but unfortunately I won't always have that option...)

    • @colinrich8456
      @colinrich8456  Před 4 lety +1

      I recorded this without a cab, just through a DI straight into the interface. It handles OD exactly the way you would expect, regardless of whether you use a cab or a DI. I use this set up live and in studio with no issues, always through a DI. I believe you’ll be happy with the results! Let me know if you’ve got any questions, happy to help.

      @@colinrich8456 Thanks for the reply! I tried the AC one at the music store in DI mode in the store's studio and it sounded pretty descent (even the guy who owns the store was impressed). But I told him that I need the Clean one, so he ordered it for me. Nowadays we don't gig as much as we used to due to pandemic, so I left all my speaker cabs at the few venues we play. When that thing arrives, I will try it both in DI and Cabinet and see what works for me the best... hopefully the DI (with the pedals) will work just fine, so I will save a lot of space for next year...

    • @user-jt1ug2eu4w
      @user-jt1ug2eu4w Před 4 lety

      I used in on a gig, it sounds amazing with a 12inch speaker cabinet. I don't think I will be using it DI though... At least until i have enough time to adjust the EQ on the mixer til it sounds satisfying... But hell i never hoped it would sound so good in a 12 inch speaker cabinet... And i have been using exclusively tube amps for ten years...

    Hello, a friend can sell me the Palmer PDI 09 at a good price, do you remember if the speaker simulation integrated (and not disengageable) of the Palmer PDI 09 is better or worse than that integrated into the VOX MV 50? the signal output of the MV 50 is very very low !!!the output signal of the speaker simulation of the MV 50 is really very low. how did you proceed in Live situation? because it is in Live that I want to use it ! Have a good day

    • @colinrich8456
      @colinrich8456  Před rokem +1

      It was a long time ago, but the speaker sim on the Palmer felt pretty comparable to the MV50 honestly. I didn’t notice a very big difference.
      I never had any issues with the output of the MV50 at all. Maybe it was the model I had or the way I used it, but I never got any complaints from the sound engineer about it. I’ve used both the AC30 model and the Clean model with no issues at all.

    • @colinrich8456

      When this was recorded I was using a Radial Pro D2. I’ve since upgraded to the Pinstripe Pedals DISO+ with great results!
