  • The courtroom climax, as it were. You're probably here for the part from 5:45. I'm sure someone else has uploaded it by now, but that won't stop me.
Wherein Sholmes is an absolute madman. It's so ridiculously over-the-top that I can't help but enjoy it.

I love the fact that Holmes is the one to finally take down "The Professor", as Stronghart is clearly supposed to play the role of this game's Professor Moriarty.

Wanna know what I love about this finale? Aside from how Iris and Sholmes outsmarted Stronghart, my favorite bit is Stronghart himself: When I played Ace Attorney Chronicles for the first time, the first thing tat came to mind upon meeting him was, "Oh, this must be Damon Gant's ancestor!" and when I saw he was the Judge for Episode 5, I had a feeling he'd be the "final boss" so-to-speak. And wouldn't you know? He manipulates those around him, including the Prosecutor's Office to do terrible things for his benefit, he makes those who oppose him "disappear", and he aims to *be* the law. Plus, that clapping animation pretty much solidified what I knew and when he truly breaks down via the flaming scales falling, you could say he got back up to...Rise From The Ashes!

I concede that this scene may not make entire sense and may take the focus away from Ryunosuke a bit, but I can’t deny it’s still a suitable EPIC finale and, if I were to change it in anyway, would probably lose its flare, so I’m happy just as it is

The continuity of The Great Ace Attorney is something that no other game in the series has replicated.
Stronghart has been there since the first game with his imposing presence, and it's only in the final case of the second wherein he becomes an actual threat in terms of his position. You see the sheer extent of his control and you even see just how unhinged he is with that one facial expression after the first breakdown.

Probably because TGAA was always designed as one big game that had to be split into two cause of 3ds's system limitations, which is why TGAA1 feels so incomplete whereas TGAA 2 is arguably top 3 in the series

This is what Sherlock Holmes would do Ryunosuke did not give up even after the tides were against him. Him pausing to catch a breathe is what kept his resolve. I don't have an issue with this like other people.

Sholmes had full trust in Ryuu's abilities, and he had proven beyond any reasonable doubt all of Stronghart's crimes. But Stronghart still had a lot more power and could just "Nuh uh" his way out of that situation. So I'm glad that the way they defeated him was by literally taking away all his power. Very fitting that the man who did everything to gain more power lost it all in a single day because of what he did to gain said power.

I love the entire The Great Ace Attorney series. It's kind of a let down that the finale is using "Deus Ex Machina" plot device in the finale.
But it is a game and it supposed to bring fun.
I simply wish to see more of Great Ace Attorney in the future that set in the past rather than the present timeline 🎉

Sherlock just pulled a Deus Ex Machina just to save the game. I mean, if the developers came with a more logical solution, then this wouldn't have ruined the ending.

@@ninjakidkat12 honestly yea, as much as I like the entire ending, mannnnn they couldve pulled it off way better.
Herlock basically taking all the glory just wasnt as appealing as the idea of Ryuu being the guy taking stronghart down, ESPECIALLY when the theme is called the Resolve of Ryuunosuke.
Doesnt help that Herlock fucking skipped through centuries of technology making a fucking hologram, I understand he technically has also made ridiculous inventions before (such as the blood thing and the hair color change), but holograms just breaks my sense of disbelief to such a large degree it made it hard to enjoy the finale as much as I could.
Even if they wanted herlock to take the glory, it couldve been soemthing more believable, like reveal he was actually there the entire time or something, and reveal he implanted audio recorders or something across the entire court, couldve led to some cool forshadowing by perhaps having sholmes in one of the episodes be in court with Ryuu constantly leaving the stand to touch a random wall and what not for comedic effect and then reveal that was him implanting the sound devices.

@@jitsauce522 I love it so much. Expected it to be Runo's decisive takedown, but instead we get Sholmes dropping the silly facade in the final case and hologramming in to literally end a man's career. He was promoted as a major character and is one of the main draws of these games, and it took til this point to finally have his major heroic moment.
I can get not liking the lack of proper build-up to the hologram, but the tech itself is fine considering this is a series with spirit channeling, mood detection robots, psychic bracelets, and flip phones post-2010.

@@jitsauce522 The thing is though, despite how much of the credit is given to sholmes, without ryuunosuke proving everything in court, sholmes couldn't have done anything, as the only reason he was able to do what he did, was because the queen saw everything that ryuunosuke was revealing in court, so I think it was more of a joint effort finale where thanks to everything ryuunosuke did, sholmes could deal the final blow

@@megabytegaming2175 That is true! At the same time though something about a track called the "resolve of ryunosuke" feels kind of odd when it only plays while sholmes does everything, taking up basically all the spotlight from everyone else in court, it feels thematically weird to me, even when naruhodo did everything else before so that sholmes could act, it feels like it overshadows naruhodo completely.
I feel like it would've felt so much cooler if Narahudo AND Sholmes both together dealt the final blow by talking one after another.

I'm sorry, but the final case was a huge letdown to me and this scene was just an even bigger middle finger. It already destroyed all the intrigue and solid writing from the prior episodes with constant filler dialogue and repetitious nonsense that couldn't get to the damn point. Then they come in with this, the biggest ass-pull in AA history and that is saying something.
The breakdown was hot fire though.

The asspull works best if you'd already realized that the radio that they introduced in that case would be used for the finale. The juror hints at radio tech, and then they pull it out on you mid-trial, and heavily set up things for you to expect it at the very end, only for the game to go 20 steps further than expected and create a giant spectacle out of the whole thing. It also brought everyone into the court room, which was nice. For me, it wasn't so much an asspull as taking the expected solution and cranking the ridiculous meters up past max, with holograms AND the Queen being thrown into the mix.

You mean,,,, Sherlock predicting that Stronghart would abuse his power to force the case to close, you know, like every other corrupt politician and legal-man, so he recorded the thing for the Queen to watch? Literally there is no better action Sherlock would take in this situation, especially when he had schemed this thing for a whole year, and even knew secrets about the original professor case 10 years ago? Recordings were still a thing back then, but they decided to use fancy technology to make the court case more exciting.

I'm 1 year late to this discussion but I totally agree. Interesting enough story, didn't feel like I was solving anything though because everything was already laid out in front of me. A good ace attorney case sits in the Goldilocks zone between "so hard that you start save-scumming" and "so easy that the game tells you the answer."
I think the first trial, 2-4, was more interesting than 2-5. Probably because it had investigation.
Also, the bit when the judiciary starts cheering for stronghart because he says "I did it all to preserve law and order" is cringe and unrealistic, and probably the only reason they needed to do the hologram asspull.
Sholmes should've snuck into court with a disguise again, much more consistent than inventing a hologram system overnight.
