Norbreck Castle Hotel Overview
Norbreck Castle Hotel, located on Queens Promenade in Blackpool, is a large seafront hotel with 480 bedrooms and 22 conference suites, including the Norcalympia Conference Centre.
History
Built in 1869 as a private country house, it was acquired by J.H. Shorrocks around the late 19th century. Shorrocks expanded it into the Norbreck Hydro, adding amenities like a ballroom, swimming pool, and solarium by the 1930s. During WWII, it was commandeered by the government for civil servants until 1951.
Significance
The hotel hosted punk and rock concerts in the late 1970s, featuring bands like Iron Maiden and The Pretenders. It was also the venue for the Liberal Party and Social Democratic Party merger in 1988. Owned by Britannia Hotels, it remains a notable landmark in Blackpool.

Love a bit of the norbrek it's good place and spa but bad in some places

I used to work for a hotel booking service 25 years ago. Even back then we used to get so many complaints and refund requests from people booking stays here.
@@davidhall7811 Wow that’s crazy, I was speaking to a friend who stayed recently and she said her room smelt of urine so it’s a hit or miss, think I was lucky 🍀

Never trust a kettle in a hotel , boil it at least twice before use if you dare .

I was there for one week no issues 😮car park so cheap food ok and room was good for price ok I am going back soon

Lets be honest for what you have paid you can't complain Britannia Hotels is aimed at the bottom end of the market if you want perfection then stay at the Ritz on The Strand and it's around £1,000 a night for the basic rooms. I have stayed at dodgy Hotels before but I have just made the best of it and still had a good time and that's what it's all about Blackpool is not San Tropez so just enjoy what it has to offer plenty of people do.
@@mansfieldlad123 honestly I totally agree with you! There are some amazing hotels and lodges in Blackpool, personally I absolutely love the place, I wanted to review this place because of the reviews but it was not as bad as what people were making it out to be, £35 was an absolute bargain tbh 👍
WHY, do some hotels put the towels on the bed ?
Imagine going for a wash, shower or bath and then realising the towels are on the bed.
@@wolvoman1 😂 totally get you! Towels should be stacked on a shelf in the bathroom or at least a designated area that is easy reachable from the bathroom, madness but yea they are still doing it

Putting ice in NEVER the drink is ice cold doesn't need ice
Even if it’s ice cold which it wasn’t I always need ice 🧊 😊 everywhere I go no matter what the restaurant is they have ice this is the first time I have used a machine without ice, very poor from Burger King 👑
@@travelwithrussell never have ice. You may serve yourself there but when it's served to you, you get a large drink without ice, because of the space the ice takes up in the cup.

There should be a mattress protector on the mattress, that's bad for a chain hotel not having one, but it's Britannia so to be expected! Some of their hotels have been getting a lick of paint and a tiny bit of upgrading from the money they've taken in from housing asylum seekers / refugees for many many months (not meaning that in a bad way to be clear), so some reviews of the past where what was happening then.

@@travelwithrussell Agree on the encasing to keep bed bugs away, but it's rare to have but the basic protector is not!
