      Yeah, i drove a diesel car for 19 yrs. Now bought a petrol car an i have to learn to step a little on the gas before releasing the clutch. Now, after about 2 months of practice its getting a lot better. However i still have to concentrate when driving away.

    Yeah it's inevitable for new drivers to make mistakes, but sometimes it gives unavoidable pressure when the driver behind you is getting impatient by continuously blowing horns, despite your "Caution: New Driver" sign at the back. As a new driver myself, I experience that a lot, almost every time. And I kept stalling because of that.
    Very inconsiderate. Forgetting they were once a novice.

    To anyone who needs to hear this - you will overcome that feeling of stress. But don't stop driving a stick. It is great fun after 1-2 years of driving. And also if any stressful drivers are waving hand or smth, just wave him back with a smile on your face. Stick is more mature and safer to drive than automatic transmission. Never forget it. Much Love to all you learning to drive. ❤

      arguably modern automatics are miles ahead of manual transmissions, dual clutch transmissions change gears faster and smoother than any manual could, obviously manual transmissions have certain advantages but for people who just use their cars to get from point a to point b automatics will 99% of the time be safer and more comfortable

      Yeah you can say that again when I driver my instructors diesel I'm chill and drive well never have a problem but when I practice in my mums petrol mini which as she says you have to be very aggressive with the clutch I stall all the time because I'm just not used to the amount of revs you have to put in and that u lift the cluth to quickly when setting off

    • @yungface4572
      @yungface4572 Před rokem +3

      @@afriendlycadian9857 I guess your main issue is that youre used to taking off from first gear with just the clutch in a diesel. You need to add a bit of gas in a petrol car before lifting the clutch, you can do this even when the clutch is all the way down. You absolutely do not have to lift the clutch quickly, just make sure to rev it up sufficiently before you lift it. Do it this way and you will never stall again :)

      Now, let's talk about that nerve-racking pre-driving lesson anxiety. Trust us, most people start off feeling nervous behind the wheel.
      But fear not! 💪 With each lesson, you'll gain more confidence. Remember, even the most seasoned drivers had their fair share of nerves back in the day. The secret sauce is perseverance and a dash of patience.
      So, soak in all the knowledge these videos offer, embrace the thrill of learning, and keep reminding yourself that this fear is just a temporary pit stop on your journey to becoming a brilliant, safe driver! 🛡️🔥
      Keep watching, keep learning, and most importantly, keep believing in yourself.

    Thank you very much for the informational, and calming video. I've been driving automatic transmittion for over 4 years now, and started learning how to drive manual. It's rough, especially that im used to not worry about driving and it being a casual thing. This video really helped me realize its fine, and eventually ill learn and this will also become natural.

    • @worlddriving
      @worlddriving  Před rokem +1

      It's great to hear that you're taking the leap from automatic to manual transmission!
      Changing gears can be difficult at first, especially when you're used to the ease of automatic driving. But guess what? You've already conquered four years of auto magic, so I have no doubt that you'll rock the manual world too!
      Remember, learning something new is all about embracing the challenges. It's totally normal to feel a bit out of your comfort zone. But with persistence, practice, and a sprinkle of patience, you'll soon find yourself smoothly sailing through those gear changes and using the clutch like a pro.
      So keep that positive mindset, and trust the process. Before you know it, driving a manual will be as effortless as driving an automatic. You've got this!

      This is why I prefer Diesel cos they are easier to drive. I’ve passed my driving test and my car is petrol and it’s a 2.0. A lot of people say. It’s your right foot is the problem. But actually it’s your left foot is the problem because the clutch drives the car not the accelerator but not enough revs. When I’m learning to drive with my dad and it’s the Skoda Fabia 1.4. I keep revving so high to move off up to about 4500 rpm on the flat road or uphill but that’s way too much as I keep stalling it. In mine which is a VW Golf, I hardly give any revs but I stall sometimes in mine and my frustration level builds up and knocks my momentum down.

    I have my license for about 7 months and got my first car for 4 months, and obviously as you mentioned - I did the school on diesel, and my car is an old petrol, without hill assist or stuff like that! Hill starts, up or down, always make me anxious and afraid I won't make it (as I had some traumatizing experiences with this situation :)) ), and on the most steep ones, I always rev the car way too much (i guess over 3000 rpm) out of fear and stress, also the gas pedal is very sensitive compared to other cars I drove so even if I think I press gently, the revs just go crazy. Now I am worried I might damage the car, not only stall or roll back...ughh

    I learned in a diesel and was literally taught to move off using damn clutch, now i'm confused about petrol cars, but perhaps someone can clarify?
    So when pulling off in 1st, I need to apply and hold the gas to around 1500RPM (For flats, more for hills), and with the accelerator lightly pressed, I then need to release the clutch to the bite point and we have a go? maintain the bite point for a few seconds to not stall and apply more gas for moving is it that simple or am I missing a step, what about the footbrake in this? or should I be using the handbrake whenever possible when needed

    @dny_zexion3302 Před 10 měsíci +1

    i did in fact get an older petrol car, when i move off on a hill, i can do it without a hand break but for whatever reason i need to have my clutch way past the biting point and very slowly, if i do that i can move off on a hill without the handbrake but its just really slow. here in belgium however, they want you to move off without a handbreak during your exam, so im a bit scared to do that when i drive with my car

    I have been driving for over 24 years, although you would not have thought so, had you witnessed my driving these past two weeks. I have had an old Corsa 1.4 for many years but 2 weeks ago, I bought a Aygo that has a small engine. I have stalled the car at every traffic light and even when driving to the end of a road. I am jerky and rev up too much. I just cant seem to drive this little car. Once again, yesterday, I stalled as the lights turned green and everyone was tooting which made me feel ten times worse. I cant stop stalling and the clutch on this Aygo seems much higher up. I now have left car at home today and got a bus as i just dont want to get in the car..

  • @zenabraithwaite1934

    Hmm, i am struggling with intermittent stalling. Its the stalling that is affecting my confidence not the busy roads. Its a vicious circle and i want to sort it out. It doesn't help that the car i am learning in seems to hate first gear- if you pull away in first it revs like mad until you get into 2nd , which you have to as soon as possible and that in the back of your mind is off putting too. I really want to drive consistently well.

    • @kristofferrydquist8384
      @kristofferrydquist8384 Před 3 měsíci +1

      You usually do not need to accelerate that much in first gear. It is a start gear and a slow maneuvering gear. Just use it to get moving. If you have the engine at 1200- 1500 rpm you can do the shift to second gear the instant the clutch is synchronized (no slip). This takes only about 3-4 car lengths.

      @worlddriving  Před 11 měsíci

      Hey! It’s totally normal to experience new driver nerves, but don’t worry too much! 😊 Driving a new car can feel different, and it’s common to have some ups and downs as you get used to it. Stalling happens to many drivers, even experienced ones, from time to time.
      Try not to be too hard on yourself! Take breaks when needed, and remember that practice makes perfect. The more you drive your new car, the more comfortable you’ll become with it. Stay positive, trust in your abilities, and those nerves will gradually fade away. You’ve already driven your new car fine before, so you’ve got the skills! Keep at it, and soon enough, driving will feel like second nature. Safe travels! 🚗

On roundabout we have to look up for a quick chance if we stay behind the crossing we may lose a quick change as heavy traffic flow. I had to stop car on zebra crossing coz I had no other option to drive out my car quickly. What should we do if we come across this?
