Meet THE BEST VALUE Wheel in Sim Racing! - Simagic GT NEO Review

  • Simagic is making a habit of releasing exciting Sim Racing products that tick a lot of boxes for a good price. They have continued this trend with the Simagic GT Neo Sim Racing Wheel: a 300mm diameter GT-Style wheel with a plethora of features, and sturdy construction, for a very aggressive price of US$289.
    Not only is this a very attractive wheel for existing Simagic users, but the clever Maglink system (additional US$29) allows the use of this wheel with pretty much any wheel base, making it a very interesting proposition for anyone after a GT or Formula-style wheel.
    We took a close look at the Simagic GT NEO and took it for a drive to see if it’s all too good to be true, or if the GT Neo could take the title of Best Value Sim Racing Wheel in 2024.

    Quick note: The Neo isn’t compatible with Fanatec’s ClubSport Universal Hub as the hub is too wide to fit between the shifters. Podium Hub or SRM Emulator is fine.

      what would you need to get from SRM to use with a dd1?

    • @thatsnotme2
      @thatsnotme2 Před 3 měsíci

      Just a shame that shipping costs to Australia for the SRM stuff is so expensive. Over 50 pounds shipping for such a small item is pretty prohibitive - the tiny emulator plus shipping ends up being around AUD$160, the Podium hub's AUD$230 shipped. A more affordable shipping option would be nice, even if it is a lot slower.

    The FX-C wheel does have shift light, but it’s built into the simagic simray light in the wheel. It’s actually very effective and once I got it set up correctly I really like it. To one thing I wish simagic would do with the fx-c wheel is allow you the dim the lights around the rotory switch’s because they are much brighter than the buttons once you install stickers on the buttons

    @thomasv301 Před 3 měsíci +1

    Hi Will, I have the simagic Gt4 wheel and that has 4 connection pins to the base, so yes they increased the amount of pins a lot. For the connection issues, you probably have to change the wireless channel the wheel is communicating on with the base. You can do that in the Simpro Software. I think it is a proprietary wireless channel it communicates on. I changed to channel 60 after I bought the GT4 years ago, and haven't had any connection issues since.

    • @adambuzzeo
      @adambuzzeo Před 3 měsíci

      @@MPurs09 There's nothing "wrong" with using a round wheel but there are definite advantages to using a proper GT wheel for road racing/endurance racing. My oval wheel is large in diameter, which means my hands are further apart and my shoulders are doing more work. On an oval track you are doing way less movement at a much lower frequency. The smaller diameter GT style wheels take those problems and minimize them, making it easier to manager for long stints. Then there is of course the button options and button layout. Oval wheels aren't typically designed with on the fly programming in mind. The different rotary and funky switches on the gt style wheels gives you more options as well as making those options easier and faster to use. At the end of the day you can totally use an oval style wheel (round wheel) I have for a while, but if you can afford to have an extra GT style wheel it's well worth it it I think.

Standard stuff but people these days like to take something amazing and pick one little thing and run with it to justify the current culture of hating almost everything and being miserable = being cool.

    I've had my Simagic Alpha Mini and GT4 (non-clutch) for about 2 years now, within a year I started to experience connection loss from my GT4 wheel to the wheelbase, at first intermittently but eventually it just refused to connect to the wheelbase forcing me to use the wheel wired direct to my PC. Hopefully when I get my GT Neo that won't be a problem cause I've broken at least 3 cables in the span of a year of both sprint and endurance racing.

    I am locked into the Fanatec ecosystem and have a 8nm csl dd. I find now I want more fidelity in the FFB I am receiving from the base and I am looking for some advice on open ecosystems for direct drive bases that will be hopefully my last time spending money on a direct drive base. I have also liked your video regarding the HRS quick release from 3 years ago and from forums etc it’s still classed as the best QR for sim racing. I would love to be able to have freedom of movement because Fanatec at the moment just doesn’t cut it when coming to handbrakes shifters etc. I am going to be going the PC route as I have been using my current setup on PS5 for past 2 years and paying extra for PS compatibility is just crippling for the new csl dd + extra 300 euros on website compared to the PC variant. I also have heard that drive hub and the simex Cortez for Simagic adaptors take away feeling from the FFB so no point really especially when a software update could render these devices unusable in future if stuck with PS5. Any advice would be appreciated. Software for direct drive base as well as support from a company is crucial as well for me before I drop money on new system just so much conflicting information out there and if you have any of your videos to watch please link in response for help, and things to consider before buying a new base.

    Something important to consider with the F-Core is that the shifters aren't very good (I get a miss shift or two in most races). Cube Controls didn't cut a lot of corners, but the corners they did cut were kind of important. I ended up ordering the upgraded shifters, and adding clutches. You also need the hub in order to mount the F-Core to a 70mm QR. After all that, I have over $800 invested in it. Not exactly entry level or earth shattering value!
